Beef cows sold to 339.5p/kg for a Stabiliser x from A Dixon & Son, Selside on 2 occasions with other better end beef cows regularly 290-325p/kg with top grossing being a Hereford from J & J Whalley, Hawes selling at £2466 with another at £2440 from DJ Dickinson, Haverthwaite.
Dairy cows sold to 304.5p/kg for Holstein Friesian from Jenkin Crag Farms, Kendal with others heavy and well fleshed cows 285-300p/kg with straight parlour cows 250270p/kg. Top grossing being a heavy weight Holstein Friesian from WH Kitching & Son, Heslington totally £2293.
OTM beef heifers sold to 289.5p/kg and £2634 for a Hereford x from JD EM JA Atkinson, Kendal with dairy heifers to 324p/kg and £1571 from JM Barton & Son, Lupton. Steers sold to 339p/kg from JE D JER Wightman, Carnforth and £2141 from JW Robinson & Son, Farleton.
Cull bulls sold to 279p/kg and £3219 for Aberdeen Angus from Kirkby & Longworth, Dunnerdale.

Bull calves sold to £890 for a Limousin cross from Hannah Kent, who enjoyed her days trading at Lancaster selling other Limousins to £860 and Aberdeen Angus to £820. British Blues sold to £830 for regular vendor J&G Thornley, Kirkham. A nice run of Herefords from WN&D Smith, Cockerham achieved £800. GJ&G Billington, Garstang showed as pen of three week old Charolais selling to £680 and £670, with British Blues from Barber Farm, Brock to £660 at the same age.
Heifer calves sold to £910 x2 for British Blues from AJ Metcalfe, Out Rawcli e with the rest of the entry today being younger month old sorts. These selling to £560 for Charolais from GJ&G Billington, Garstang or £490 for Aberdeen Angus from J&G Thornley, Kirkham.

STORE CATTLE
The weekly sale of store cattle saw 210 through the main ring. A few plainer cattle were forward than in previous weeks, with this just taking the edge o trade. With that being said, well meated cattle were just as good, selling to a top of £2600 from JM Haddow, Milnthorpe for a terrific Charolais steer, who also had a pair of Simmental steers at £2500.


A pair of Angus steers at 20 months old saw a final bid of £2400 from L Parson & Sons, Levens with other Angus steers at £2350 from JS Clark & Sons for a trio. A pen of five British Blue steers from regular consigner SH&LE Birkett, Nether Kettle sold to £2380. J&H Bland & Son, Levens saw his consignment of cattle top at £2320 also for British Blues, whist their Charolais steers sold to £2380. Also making £2380 was MG&J Parker for a pen of four Limousin steers. Dairy bred steers saw a top of £2200 from EW&RM Towers, Hornby and J&H Bland & Son, Levens for Fleckviehs. All steers today saw a very respectable average of £2063. Store heifers saw an average of £1970, with a top of £2400 for a cracking pair of British Blues from JD&GM Bracken, Garstang. Well meated 22 month old Simmental heifers from Barlow Bros, Preston sold to £2350. Other Simmental heifers sold to £2250 from AT Burrow & Son, Gressingham. A sharp pair of Limousin heifers from TE JS SA Curruthers sold to £2320. Other Limousin sold to £2220 from J&H Bland & Son, Levens. Native bred heifers sold to £2120 for both Herefords and Aberdeen Angus. Plenty of

Cast and OTM cattle a stand on trade, selling to 329.5p/kg on two occasions, firstly for a Black and White heifer from GA&G Atkinson, Cantsfield with Black and White steers at the same money from WS Burrow Ltd, Silverdale. Cows sold to 309.5p/kg twice, both for Limousins from A&J Knowles, Clitheroe and from J Bargh, Heaton. Black and White cows sold to 184.5p/kg from GR Park & Son, Kendal with these regularly 235p/kg plus. Top grossing was a Simmental cast bull from AVA Thornton, Cockerham achieving £2655.25, with cows selling to £2333.63 from A&J Knowles, Clitheroe. Black and White heifers to £2178 from GA&A Atkinson, Cantsfield with black and white cows sold to £2101.84 from GR Park & Son, Kendal.
