Best holiday activities in SF?
Let’s Glow SF is an only-in-San-Francisco experience, where local artists light up our downtown buildings with mesmerizing projection art. Speaking of light, this year also marks the debut of Lightscape at the San Francisco Botanical Garden, an after-dark trail of illuminated art in Golden Gate Park. Pair either one of these adventures with a legendary cable car ride that stops at Ghirardelli Square for a hot chocolate.
Best family-friendly activities in the city?
Union Square’s Holiday Ice Rink is a family favorite that stays open well into January. The Exploratorium on the Embarcadero is another great winter activity perfect for all ages, including its annual Glow exhibit taking place until late January.
Any new or under-the-radar spots that shouldn’t be missed?
A stroll through historic Jackson Square — a downtown neighborhood filled with art galleries, quiet charm and some of the city’s most stylish shops and restaurants. Just a short walk away, Transamerica Redwood Park is a hidden gem.
Best place to get a seasonal or iconic drink?
Check out The Bauble Bar, our holiday pop-up at Four Seasons San Francisco which is back for its second installation. It’s a cozy, glittering lounge where you can enjoy playful seasonal cocktails in a space that feels straight out of a holiday movie.
Best spots for seasonal dining in SF?
Sotto Mare in North Beach is an iconic favorite for classic San Francisco seafood, especially its rich, steaming cioppino. Lately, I’ve also been loving Lunette in the Ferry Building. Featured on Netflix’s Chef’s Table, the restaurant’s Cambodian noodle soups are deeply flavorful and perfect for warming up on a chilly day by the Bay.
Your suggestions for a romantic spot?
With its glowing Belle Époque interiors and sweeping Bay Bridge views, Boulevard is perfect for a special night out.
Timothy Quintana is also a proud member of Les Clefs d’Or USA. With nearly 25 years of hospitality experience, he brings deep knowledge, thoughtful service and a true passion for sharing San Francisco’s most memorable experiences.

Wines rooted in legendary craftsmanship, inspiring art installations, and the perfect spot to unwind — there’s so much more to wine tasting at Louis M. Martini Winery.

Best winter activities in Wine Country?
Stanly Ranch kicks off the season with a tree lighting ceremony and festive holiday market open to the public. There’s shopping, live music, tractor rides and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus. And a personal favorite of mine is Paradise Drive in the town of Napa. It's a small street filled with the most beautiful holiday light displays assembled by the local community.
Best family-friendly activities in the area?
There’s ice skating at the Meritage Resort until early January, and in downtown Napa, the Lighted Art Festival runs from mid-January to mid-February. The festival illuminates the town with projection light displays and lighted art sculptures by professional artists.
Any new or under-the-radar spots?
Some hidden gems that I love include Adamvs Winery, Azur Wines and Brion. The experience at Adamvs offers an amazing architectural setting, stunning views and delicious wines. Azur’s winemaking philosophy translates into elegant wines, including one of the most delicious rosés I have tried in Napa Valley. Brion is situated in a historic barn in Napa, reflective of the richness of its single vineyard varietals.
Best place to get a seasonal or iconic drink?
Auberge du Soleil, for its festive drinks and gorgeous views of the valley. It offers traditional holiday cocktails such as spiked eggnog and hot toddies. But if you prefer the vibrancy of downtown Napa, the ArBARetum cocktail lounge, especially for its crowd favorite, Insta-worthy “Tinseltown” cocktail.
Best spots for seasonal or holiday dining?
Breakfast with Santa at Silverado Resort is a Napa Valley tradition and certainly a memorable experience for the whole family.
Ideas for solo travelers?
The bar at Auberge du Soleil and Bear at Stanly Ranch, provide a great ambiance along with menu selections to indulge in the holiday season.
Citlalli Aviles was raised in Sonoma and was immersed in the hospitality industry from a young age. Aviles began her hotel career at Rosewood Sand Hill. Upon graduating from San Jose State, she returned to her roots in wine country, joining Stanly Ranch, Auberge Collection, one of Napa’s most luxurious resort properties.

Wine tastings aren’t the only point of appeal — the region itself has plenty of additional visit-worthy opportunities.
You won’t really find this experience often, so take advantage of panoramic vista views and sights of the majestic Napa and Sonoma Valleys that embody much of Wine Country.
With origins dating to the mid-19th century, this grassy plaza has it all — a great picnicking atmosphere and weekly farmers’ market, plus plentiful shops, restaurants and tasting rooms.
This geyser in Calistoga is powered by natural geothermal pressure from a subterranean volcano just two miles from downtown Calistoga. You can expect it to erupt every 15–30 minutes and for the eruptions to reach up to 60 feet tall.
For a bit of a hybrid between outdoor and indoor adventures, explore the walkable Downtown Napa and discover the many shopping, dining and wine tasting experiences it has to offer.
Don’t forget to stop by Oxbow Public Market, a hub for many popular local food and wine purveyors, all conveniently under one roof.
