A visual narrative of a dark future in the stars.
Fifteen years ago, the skies above Uhlen burned. What fragmented nation pushed the button first - why they plunged the world into a sea of nuclear fire… That stopped mattering a long time ago. Yet the truly remarkable thing from all of it is that the end-times came and went. Nations, politics, who did what - none of that mattered. Men walked out among the fires and built cities from the ashes. The living, breathing heart of our new world became the very atomic power
that decimated it - fusion. We now face a second extinction. The blood flowing in the veins of our reactors - the life coursing through our cities - the mineral that powers fusion, it all finally ran dry. On the brink of annihilation, we are preparing our first expedition to another world, another solar system. If we fail, an entire species will be gone. If we succeed… I fear what we’ll find out there. All I know now is that our future lies far afield.

I’ve been walking around the city, camera tucked under my jacket. The trash, the daily toil, the heavy infrastructure draped over the East River - all of it buoys the city’s morale just above water level, collective mouth gasping for the New York hidden in yesteryear, the promise of postpandemic normalcy within a fingertip’s reach. Dust in the air. My pictures frame and thematize this voyeurism, Being Monty Rush after John Malkovich - an invitation to slip into my boots.
The grain of 35-millimeter film, shared between picture and eye, is easy to take comfort in. A leaning trust falls into the physical mechanisms of film, letting it reflect back to me how I already see the world - that buffering of definition, crisp lines fuzzed-out beyond their margins.
Shaken up, jittering - a distance only that of a glass barrier. Snowglobe, New York.

Simple Accordion Artist Book made for Art of the Book I taught by Robbin Silverberg. David Lynch is notoriously known to not speak about his work; he believes once you give someone a description, it changes the way you perceive it. He created an art piece titled Rickey Board that comments on how names change objects. He took flies, pinned them in different positions, and gave them each a name. The flies “transform” before your eyes and garner personalities from the name alone. In my interpretation, I used the Spotted Lanternfly, an invasive species that news sources were encouraging people to kill. These flies have been demonized; however, giving them names changes the way they’re perceived. This book is a square accordion allowing for it to be stretched out and stood up, making each “rickey” read as a card. “It isn’t tricky just name each ricky. Even though they’re all the same, the change comes from the name.”

An EV charger station is located in Tennessee, between the border of North Carolina and Tennessee. It is located in the mountains of Tennessee. Specifically, the great smoky mountains within Newfound Gap road. The road receives a high volume of traffic during different seasons as it is a sought-after scenic route that people tend to drive from North Carolina to Tennessee and vice versa.
The EV charger station deploys an art exhibit as its program. An art exhibit that is created for unwinding. The idea is to examine the notion of resting stop and how that could correspond to a resting mind.
The project explores different aspects and qualities that reinforce the idea of unwinding. Not only does the project engage the occupant spatially, but also through the senses.
The art exhibit utilizes one of Tennessee’s rich qualities, which is the landscape, and introduces it to the architecture. Furthermore, it takes a stance on architecture that is defined by 3 fundamentals, spatial, durational, and sensory qualities.

With three towers and two gaps, the apartment building responds to the scale of the city block by separating into parts, while retaining its whole. The flatness and transparency of the plane contrast with the sculptural quality and solidity of everything beyond the plane, creating a mysterious feeling within the surprising depths of the gaps. Each curve in plan guides the circulation of occupants, while certain windows frame specific views of the architecture.

As a part of the introductory digital photography class at Pratt, many students and I explored and experimented with fundamental photo concepts such as depth of field, color, natural, and architectural lighting, and much more. Throughout learning about the camera and different editing programs/ capabilities, I began to become extremely engaged with lighting, motion, and the ways manipulating these two ideas can create different types of images. Tied to my interest in architectural photography, motion, and lighting only skim the surface of this relationship. While the images I submitted

Proposing the acquisition of unused office buildings for public space, this project proposes the creation of a hike through these offices. The hike offers an exploration of the vertical, something already inherent in the dense skyscrapers of Manhattan, in contrast to many existing parks. Walking up the path will take users through a variety of small spaces
that selectively expose views of the city. Hiking can also be seen as an escapist activity, leaving the city and venturing into nature. Combining these two seemingly disparate conditions reorient users’ perceptions of the city.

Using robotic fabrications, we focused on critiquing the post-modern application of the sticker brick. Through studies of the Alleghany Woodrat, we looked to design a brick that allowed for movement in every direction. Using the directionality provided by minimal surface, we worked to create continuous voids through the bricks for animal and plant life. We focused on using the tool-path of the machine to provide a level of porosity to allow a plants to grow through the brick.

Acknowledging the Gowanus Canal’s history as a tidal marsh, Constructed Ground is a habitable sculpture, an earthwork, placed on the graves of rivers. It re-consumes the industrial, through the ecological transformation of the unproductive territory, and utilizes the structure of empty buildings as a sculptural skeleton to merge with and define the interiority of Constructed Ground. Sculpture (“pure negativity: the combination of exclusions”, Rosalind Krauss’s 1979 Sculpture in the Expanded Field) is historically-bounded, speaking in symbological tongue about the death of the Gowanus Creek and its optimistic hopes for a cleaner future on its tomb, mediating between the shade of what was the Creek and former tidal marsh, and the re-consumption of the industrial.

It is a discussion from beyond Higgins; to be brought back into Higgins.
“25 FEET Off Higgins” is a truly student organized zine publication that aims to showcase student work on an accessible and personal scale. We are unofficial, unpolished, nonbureaucratic, and off Higgins. The book’s title acknowledges that Higgins is where we emerged and where we were originally from. However, we must stay away from its jurisdiction. 25 feet from Higgins is where students are allowed to smoke. “25 FEET Off Higgins” is where students are allowed to express themselves freely while having proximity to their base. It is a discussion from beyond Higgins; to be brought back into Higgins.
