Ethel Bunch is the President and CEO of Sustain SC, a 501(c)3 bringing together a diverse group of business, economic development, academic, conservation and state agency leaders with the mission to connect the sustainability goals of business in South Carolina with local solutions that benefit the economy, environment and people.

Prior to founding Sustain SC, Ethel co-founded Wittering Advisors, a consulting group working with clients to raise the standard for informed decision making that maximizes South Carolina’s economic growth and strong natural resource based infrastructure. Serving organizations such as the Palmetto Conservation Foundation, Lowcountry Land Trust and Congaree Land Trust she helped match corporate environmental and social commitments with South Carolina’s needs.
She has 20+ years of fundraising and communications experience bridging the nonprofit and private sectors operating in healthcare, environment and education. She has served as Director of Development and Marketing for EdVenture Children’s Museum, Prevent Child Abuse South Carolina and Heathwood Hall Episcopal School.
Born and raised in South Carolina, Ethel earned a B.A. in English and Masters in Mass Communication from the University of South Carolina. She is married to Bill Bunch and has two daughters, Caroline and Claiborne who keep her motivated and humble.

Professional background
• Jessica serves as EY’s Office Managing Partner for Greenville, South Carolina where she develops and maintains relationships on behalf of EY across the entire state of South Carolina.
• As a Financial Accounting and Advisory Partner Jessica supports her clients in monitoring and disclosing financial and nonfinancial insights for her client’s stakeholders. In this role she addresses the CFO’s agenda and provides them, their company’s controllers, treasurers, and audit committees with insight and services to support compliance with the ever-evolving financial requirements as well as helping to provide transparency and trust in reporting to support better decision-making.
• During her public accounting career, which has extended over 23 years, she has served as the coordinating partner for public, private, and private-equity-backed companies across multiple sectors, including advance manufacturing and mobility (automotive & transportation), telecommunications, media and technology (hardware & software), and health care. Her clients have included Fortune 500, 1000, and Russell 3000 companies

• She has experience in a variety of transactions including initial public offerings, acquisitions and divestitures, debt offerings, and private equity offerings. She has a strong working knowledge of Regulation S-X and has gained extensive knowledge in a variety of accounting areas such as revenue recognition, leases, inventory, and restructuring. Most recently, her efforts have been focused on Sustainability and is assisting companies to identify process improvements, systems, and controls specific to ESG reporting
• As the EY US-Central Region Mobility Sector Assurance Leader, she is responsible for growing and developing EY’s transportation industry client base for the region, which encompasses 20 states plus the Caribbean.
• She is engaged in the South Carolina community through her work on the Clemson University’s Advisory Board for the School of Accountancy, the Racial Equity and Economic Mobility Coalition of Greenville, United Way Board of Directors and the ChairElect for the Greenville Chamber of Commerce Board.
