olunteering Matters features only a small selection of the current volunteering opportunities available in the Eastleigh area. It is a widely distributed monthly publication featuring organisations who want to be noticed—they are all just waiting for you! If you’ve ever thought about volunteering and were worrying about what you could do, how much time it would take and how you would get involved, then that’s what we are here for, to advise, inform and help you find the right volunteering for you. In September our thoughts tend to turn to the latter part of the year, a time that can be very trying for the older generation in particular. The activities and services provided by voluntary groups are vital to the wellbeing of many people. Just think, you could be the one person a lonely older person gets to speak to all week! Contact the Volunteer Centre team to find out what a difference you could make. Give us a call and arrange to meet us in the office, or go along to one of our drop-in sessions listed below. We will also have a stand at the Eastleigh Carnival on Saturday 17 September (Leigh Road Recreation Ground), and the Pumpkin Festival at Royal Victoria County Park on Saturday 8 October. Contact the Volunteer Centre Team on 023 8090 2458 or volunteer@1community.org.uk or see all our opportunities online: www.do-it.org
