Trustee for CAB Eastleigh CAB needs a trustee to join the board and help provide leadership. You should be able to give time and commitment to bureau affairs, keep yourself informed about CAB issues and think strategically. Eastleigh Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent local charity, which is a member of the national Citizens Advice network. CAB helps people solve their legal, financial and other problems by providing information and advice, and by influencing policy makers. Trustees are supported by an induction programme, information documents, web based guidance and a strong team. The post is voluntary but reasonable expenses are paid. Applications are welcomed from all sections of the community.

Volunteer Finance Director We have focused on Trustee roles as 2-8 November 2015 is Trustees’ Week. Trustees are the people in charge of a charity. They play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to make important decisions about the charity's work. Trustees' Week is an annual event to showcase the great work that trustees do and highlight opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference.

4Youth is looking for someone with Financial Management experience and expertise to advise and support their Board of Directors. Their role would be to:  ensure the proper financial administration of the charity 

guide the organisation in financial planning and decision making

Help in forward planning and managing a wide range of activities at the Age Concern centre is required by Age Concern Eastleigh. Age Concern is a small charity based at Romsey Road, Eastleigh, which promotes the well-being of all older people by organising social, cultural and physical activities at the centre. Volunteers required: 1) Trustee 2) Chair/Vice Chair. Hours to suit, but would appreciate about one morning a week, plus three short meetings a year and AGM attendance.

4Youth is a local charity working across Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton to support young people and those individuals and organisations working with young people.

Volunteer Safeguarding Director 4Youth is looking for someone with indepth current knowledge of safeguarding good practice to support and advise the organisation, helping them to ensure that young people’s safety and wellbeing is at the heart of all they do.

You will have responsibility for overseeing the Child Protection and Safeguarding policies, procedures and practices of the organisation in partnership with the Chief Executive.

4Youth (formerly Youth Clubs Hampshire and Isle of Wight) is a local charity working across Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton to support young people and those individuals and organisations working with young people.

Trustee for EBS

As a Trustee of EBS, you would be required to attend monthly meetings held on the 3rd Monday of the month. Trustees meetings last approximately 2 hours. The Trustees are responsible for the policies and decision making of the organisation. EBS is a charitable organisation that receives no regular funding. Trustees seek to secure the future of the organisation by applying for funding and seeking to promote the good name and reputation of the EBS. The Trustees are a small dedicated group of individuals who work well as a team and are looking for people to come along and help them with their goal of providing a confidential counselling and support service to all those suffering a bereavement.

Management Committee Trustee for Pilands Wood Community Association Any person living in the Pilands Wood area (Bursledon or Old Netley) is welcome to join the Community Association Management Committee as a Trustee. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to the lives of local people by directing and managing the activities of the Community association which is responsible for Volunteering Matters Page 2

the ongoing success of the Community Centre. The time commitment is flexible, but trustees are required to meet monthly.

Trustees are responsible for the management of the Community Association, which is a Registered Charity. The main skills and qualifications relate to their ability to provide a lead in future planning, ensure that all the rules of the governing document are adhered to and that any financial risk to the charity is minimised.

Trustees are also responsible for correct business practice and overseeing the effective day to day running of the Community Centre and its staff. Business and planning experience would be an advantage as well as a keen interest in local affairs. Full training is available.

iTalk Evening Volunteer In this volunteer role, based in iTalk’s Eastleigh office, your main focus will be to call patients to complete a Patient Experience Questionnaire and record this on the Patient Management System. This is an important role as iTalk values the feedback from patients to help them improve their service. It is essential to have a good telephone manner and effective IT skills. Training will be provided as required and as relevant to the role.

A regular weekly commitment of 2-3 hours is required, this could be 4-7pm, 5-8pm or 6-8pm.

Admin Support for Eastleigh Friends of People with a Learning Disability This local charity, organising social events for people with a learning disability, is looking for more volunteers and especially someone to take notes and create minutes for their bi-monthly meetings, which take place on either a Wednesday or Thursday morning every other month. They are a friendly group of Trustees and volunteers and would warmly welcome someone interested in joining them. More information available on request. Out of pocket expenses refunded.

MAPPA Lay Advisor

Are you interested in people?

Non-judgemental? Good at learning and retaining information? Then perhaps you might think about joining the Citizens Advice Bureau.

CAB volunteers assist people on a whole variety of issues, including benefits, housing, debt, the law and employment. Eastleigh CAB has two offices but all training takes place in Eastleigh:  The CAB office in Eastleigh is open to the public Mondays to Thursdays 10am to 4pm  The CAB outreach centre in Bursledon Community Centre is open to the public on Tuesdays (drop in mornings, by appointment afternoons)  The CAB outreach centre in Hedge End Salvation Army Church and Community Centre is open by appointment on Thursday mornings and as drop in on Friday mornings

Hampshire MAPPA Strategic Management Board is looking to appoint an additional MAPPA Lay Advisor. Are you looking to give something back to your community? Could you spare the time to help make your area a better, safer place to live?

Lay advisors are members of the public who will help multi-agency partners by providing a public voice to help manage the risk posed by MAPPA Offenders. This is done by attending multi-agency meetings and public forums. The Lay advisor helps these agencies work together to manage the risks posed by violent and sexual offenders.

The appointment lasts between 2-5 years and is subject to an enhanced DBS Check.

First Wessex Digital Champion Volunteer Volunteers are needed to encourage, inspire and support First Wessex residents in getting online and learning basic computer skills. Your role as a volunteer will be to:

4Youth Fund Raising Events Intern As a volunteer Fund Raising Events Intern you’ll have fantastic opportunity to get involved with 4Youth, which is based in Eastleigh, by working on projects and events throughout the year. You could be a student, a graduate, considering a career change or looking for something worthwhile that fits around your other commitments. This could be the right opportunity for you to build on your existing skills and gain new ones. As a Fund Raising Events Intern you will play a vital role in 4Youth’s community fundraising events across wider Hampshire.

You will be creative, innovative and enthusiastic in your approach to fundraising.

You’ll have a flair for bright ideas and a passion for your work. You’ll be well organised, thorough and methodical and will ideally have previous experience in events organisation and fundraising.

4Youth will reimburse pre-agreed expenses and are flexible about days and times so the role can be fitted around other commitments.



Volunteer at Eastleigh Museum Join a friendly team at Eastleigh Museum as a welcome volunteer, providing information, assisting visitors and serving in the shop and café. We are currently looking for a volunteer for alternate Saturdays, when the museum is open 10am till 2pm. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 9.45am for the setting up routine. The role provides good customer service, retail and catering experience.

Bursledon Windmill Volunteer Tour Guides, Millers, Assistant Millers, Museum Engagement Assistants and Gardeners are all needed at Bursledon Windmill. By volunteering you’ll be playing a part in the mill’s history, keeping this very special site open. You’ll be part of a friendly and dedicated team with the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills and pass on your own experience.

Volunteers also receive two free admission tickets for every three month period worked and are eligible for special concessionary rates to events.

Friends of Fleming Park More volunteers are needed for the Friends of Fleming Park group, to join the practical conservation sessions on the former golf course in Eastleigh. The Friends are working to improve Fleming Park for visitors and wildlife. So far they have been responsible for a new walking trail, improved existing paths, new seats, benches and interpretation boards, animal and bird shelters and educational leaflets.

Eastleigh Countryside Volunteers Are you the sort of person who is fascinated by fungi, bowled over by butterflies, partial to plants or longs to be messy in the mud? If so then volunteering in the countryside could be for you.

There are so many benefits from becoming a countryside volunteer at Itchen Valley Country Park or Lakeside Country Park. It's great exercise - why go to the gym when you could be burning off calories by working hard in the fresh air?

A wide range of people become countryside volunteers, so it can be an excellent way to make new friends, plus there’s the opportunity to learn new skills, such as hedge-laying, fencing or coppicing, and above all, it's great fun!

Lakeside Country Park A practical task is organised by a Countryside Ranger every Wednesday morning at Lakeside Country Park in Eastleigh and runs from 10am till 12 noon. Please book your place in advance.
