Southampton Twins and Supertwins Club Southampton Twins and Supertwins Club is a registered charity committed to providing support to the parents, families and carers of twins and higher multiple births during pregnancy, birth and beyond. They are supported entirely by volunteers and their committee members are all parents of twins or multiples. They hold an annual Christmas party and they are looking for volunteers to assist them at this year’s event.

The party is to be held on 6 December 2015 at The Hilt, Chandlers Ford. They would be so grateful for volunteers to assist them in the basic set up and clearing of tables, helping run Santa’s Grotto and running a craft table etc. They would need no more than a few hours of the volunteers’ time between 1pm - 5pm.

Friends of Chandlers Ford Care Home – Befriending & Activities Co-ordinator Friends of Chandlers Ford Care Home are looking for volunteers to visit and interact with residents through a range of activities. Volunteers should be helpful and understanding and have a friendly approachable manner. Training and induction are provided.

Landscape Watch Hampshire – Monitoring Landscape Change Hampshire Landscape Watch is an innovative new project, supported by Innovate UK, to map landscape changes in Hampshire over a period of eight years. The objective is to characterise the county’s landscape on two dates, by analysing pairs of aerial photos held by Hampshire County Council, and thereby identify the changes that have taken place in the landscape between these dates. The project will produce the first detailed maps of landscape in the county, together with associated statistics. Results are to be used by Hampshire County Council in a variety of ways, including updating the habitat map of the county and improving flood risk assessment, and will be made available as open data via the Hampshire Hub.

Event Organiser for Hilldene Community Centre

Trustees Needed Southampton Rape Crisis (SRC) is an award winning, innovative and evolving Charity with over 30 years’ experience of delivering prevention and response services to children, young people, adults and families at risk of or affected by sexual/ domestic abuse. SRC works across Southampton, Western Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies providing education, training, advocacy, criminal justice support and a portfolio of therapeutic services.

Exciting recent developments include a new contract with Southampton City Council for Prevention and Early Intervention Domestic and Sexual Abuse Community Services. In order to support this expansion whilst maintaining quality, sound financial management and their reputation as a good employer, SRC is seeking to recruit new Trustees to strengthen their Management Committee.

They are looking for Trustees with energy, commitment and an interest in this or related fields but who also have skills and experience in the following areas:  Business Development  Diversity & Inclusion  Mental Health  Children, Young People, Families  Criminal Justice System  Legal / Contract law  Marketing & PR  Accounting, Financial Management and Fundraising This is not an exhaustive list and they very much welcome interest in the Trustee role from any individual who thinks they can contribute. As part of their induction, new Trustees will be given full information about the role, their responsibilities and the organisation.

Management Committee meetings are currently held monthly with occasional ad hoc smaller meetings and task groups looking at specific items such as Finances, HR and Policy and Planning.

Hilldene Community Association is looking for a volunteer willing to organise fundraising events for the Community Centre. The Community Centre provides a meeting place for various organisations in the locality and is run by a committee, which manages the Centre and organises fundraising initiatives throughout the year. The Event Organiser would be expected to attend management committee meetings, which are usually held on the second Monday in the month at 7.30pm at the Community Centre.

Expenses will be reimbursed for pre-agreed purchases made on behalf of the association for fundraising events.

Code Club Programmer Volunteer – Chandlers Ford Library Chandlers Ford Library is looking for a computer programmer to lead their Code Club, which is aimed at children aged 9-11 for one hour a month, after school, on weekdays or Saturdays. You will need to have computer coding skills and preferably experience working with children. Library staff can provide some support with running and organising the club. Equipment provided. Coding resources available online. This role is subject to a DBS check.

Once a Year Open Sight Street Collection Organiser Open Sight is looking for a street collection organiser to organise a street and a house to house street collection to raise funds to support visually-impaired people in the Eastleigh area. The charity applies for a street and house-to-house collection once a year. The organiser would contact volunteers who would collect, then count the proceeds and fill in the appropriate paperwork.

Secretary for the QEII Activity Centre The QE2 Activities Centre Committee needs someone to take minutes at 8 to 10 meetings per year (Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings), and to liaise with the committee to arrange the meetings. Computer skills essential. The QE2 Centre, at Manor Farm Country Park, Bursledon, provides Day Services, holidays and activity sessions for people of all ages with additional needs including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and sensory impairment.

Case Workers for SSAFA Volunteers are needed to be trained to visit potential clients (those who have served in the Armed Forces/Merchant Navy, or their widows/dependants) and complete a report including their financial circumstances and a recommendation of help needed. Volunteers will also offer assistance to the client if an obvious claim for state help is suggested.

Volunteers will attend a two and a half day course in London covering interviewing skills, state benefits and eligibility. (Expenses paid)

SCA Volunteer Advocates SCA Volunteer Advocates give a voice to those who are unable to make themselves heard. They support vulnerable people with issues that affect their everyday lives, including family and relationships, debt, housing, employment, benefits, child protection, adult protection, rights, access to services, disputes and appeals amongst others. Volunteers need to be available to meet clients in either Southampton, Portsmouth or Bournemouth. SCA’s work focuses on supporting those without or with limited capacity, eg learning disabilities, dementia etc, and also those leaving custody. Training will be provided and expenses paid.

New Forest Volunteer Fair Saturday 30 January 2016 10.30am-4pm Lyndhurst Community Centre Make a change and volunteer for wildlife projects, heritage surveys, ranger services and outdoor activities within the stunning landscapes of the New Forest National Park.

People looking for new challenges and new friends are invited to the annual New Forest Volunteer Fair.

Organised by the New Forest National Park Authority, the fair showcases a variety of stands and talks from local volunteer organisations on projects running in 2016.

Come to the fair to meet over 40 different organisations such as the Forestry Commission, Hampshire Ornithological Society, The National Trust, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, RSPB, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, the New Forest Centre, Furzey Garden and Sir Harold Hillier Gardens.

Hampshire Fire & Rescue – Vehicle Maintenance Support Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) is looking for volunteers to assist in ensuring that their Training Centre vehicles and associated equipment are presented to a professional standard. What will volunteers do?

• Carry out vehicle checks • Report vehicle defects to Control • Clean HFRS Training Centre vehicles regularly • Maintain inventories for vehicle equipment • Assist with the regular standards testing of appropriate equipment • Report damaged/missing equipment and maintain vehicle kit to required standards • Bring any issues with vehicles to the attention of a Line Manager

Eastleigh Borough Food Banks If you would like to spread a bit of festive cheer, how about donating to your local food bank for those in need. You can donate to the following centres in the borough of Eastleigh: Eastleigh Basics Bank Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of local schools, churches and many individual supporters during the Harvest festival, Eastleigh Basics Bank now has enough stock to support their requirements for most basic foods until the New Year. However, they would still really appreciate donations that they can give to their clients at Christmas, including items like: advent calendars, biscuits, Christmas cakes, Christmas puddings, confectionery, snacks, toiletries, toys and other gifts for children. Any gifts along these lines would make a real difference to those who have little at Christmas.
