Council Holds 40th Anniversary Tea Party

We’ve been celebrating our 40th anniversary throughout 2018 with a series of events, celebrations and challenges, which will culminate with a celebratory AGM on Tuesday 18 September at The Point and an exhibition at Eastleigh Museum, 15 September-10 November, called One Community – The First 40 Years. On Friday 27 July Eastleigh Borough Council held a 40th anniversary tea party for One Community senior staff, trustees and long serving volunteers at The Point in Eastleigh. Chair of One Community’s Board of Trustees, Professor Sri Kandiah, said: “We have worked in partnership with Eastleigh Borough Council over the years because our strategic aims fit well together. We both want Eastleigh to be a place where people can thrive and live together in a vibrant community.” Jean Roberts-Jones, Chief Executive of One Community, said: “40 years ago, when One Community started as Eastleigh Council of Community Services, it was with the full support of Eastleigh Borough Council. I am proud that we have been able to maintain such a close working relationship over the years, and look forward to the next 40!” Pictured above are Professor Sri Kandiah (Chair) and Jean Roberts-Jones (CEO) of One Community, cutting the cake at the party.
