Hickam Historical Tour Every Wed 9 a.m.–2:30 p.m. An exclusive tour to relive history and understand the important role Hickam AFB played in World War II. See the original buildings where the airmen, nurses and officers lived on the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. Tours include lunch at the Officers’ Club and a souvenir. The buffet lunch offers a wide variety of great entrées, salads and soup as well as dessert and beverages. J.R. Rockers features a sports bar/pub atmosphere with a large menu available for lunch and dinner. Starters, salads, sandwiches and delicious entrées are available. Officers’ Club The Officers’ Club is situated on the historic Pearl Harbor Channel and provides a variety of food and beverage options. The daily lunch features a different special along with a delicious soup and salad bar. A traditional Mongolian BBQ is offered Tuesday and Thursday evenings on the lanai. Spinning Instructor Certification 1 Nov 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. $295 This orientation will give you all the tools you need to become a certified spinning instructor. Once you sign up you will receive a spinning instructor manual to use as a reference during the orientation. Learn the ins and outs of sailing. This course is taught by one of our certified sailing instructors. Once you are certified, you will have the opportunity to use three of Hickam Harbor’s sailboats; the Laser 12, the Catalina 14 and the Rhodes 19. This class consists of four hours of classroom theory and 11 hours of on-the-water group instruction and semi-private sailing instruction. Cost includes textbook, class materials, boat rental and instruction.

American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month November is National American Indian & Alaska Native heritage month. It recognizes the contributions the first Americans made to the growth and establishment of the United States. The library will be celebrating with special displays and book sections.

Our Heroes’ Tree 9 Nov The Our Heroes’ Tree program recognizes personal heros who serve in the military. Through this program, the library is able to honor the contributions of past and present service members. The Hickam Library will display a tree for you to hang ornaments. Stories about individual service members can also be submitted and displayed near the tree.

Hero Ornaments Workshop 10 Nov 3 p.m. Patrons are invited to create their own handmade hero ornaments to add to the Our Heroes’ Tree. Those wishing to make an ornament will need to bring in a picture of

their military hero. All other crafting supplies will be provided. The Our Heroes’ Tree will be on display at the Hickam Library throughout the holiday season.

Hickam Family Child Care A home away from home. Family Child Care offers developmentally appropriate child care in licensed homes on Hickam AFB for children ages two weeks through 12 years. A variety of care is available including drop-in, shift work, TDY care, special needs, nights and weekends, in addition to hourly and monthly care. The Hickam Family Child Care office is currently recruiting new providers. Prospective providers are trained, screened and approved by applicable agencies. Persons who are interested in becoming licensed providers should call the Hickam Family Child Care office at 448-1988 or 448-1959. FCC office at a new location! Body By Baby Every Thu from 9–9:45 a.m. Designed for parents (any age) and infants (under 9 mos). Bonding is encouraged through the use of base pilates movements that parents do with their infants. Boot Scootin’ Boogie Every Fri from 10–10:45 a.m. Perfect for children ages 3–5. Parents can join if they wish. No boots, but line dancing is fun for little people too. Play Ball! Every Tue from 3:15–4:15 p.m. Children ages 4–6 can get their introduction to ball handling. This class is not for the experienced athlete. Each month a new type of ball will be used. Running and coordination skills reinforced.

Examples of these techniques include painting, sketching and print-making. Artworks may be entered in the Boys & Girls Club of America Fine Arts contest.

Photography Club Tue 5–6 p.m. Pre-Teen/Teen Center Ages 10–18 (Youth Program members only) The Photography Club teaches the basics behind great photography. Youth will learn how to properly clean and use a professional camera and how to take outstanding photos. Participants will also learn how to put together a portfolio and build their own photo shoot. Photos may be entered for the BGCA and 4-H photography contests.

Torch Club Wed 3–4 p.m. Pre-Teen/Teen Center Ages 10–13 (Youth Program members only) Torch Clubs are nationally chartered, small-group leadership and service clubs mandated by the BGCA. Members learn to elect officers and work together to plan and implement activities in four areas: service to club and community, education, health and fitness and social recreation.

Y.E.S. (Youth Employment Skills) Y.E.S. is an on-base, youth volunteer program designed for high school aged dependents of active duty Air Force members, providing students an opportunity to learn valuable skills. Students accumulate volunteer hours during their four years of high school and can earn up to $1,000 towards future vocational, technical or academic endeavors. $35 per day • 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Outdoor Rec. Hickam Harbor (B-3455) Ages 5-12

Take advantage of Furlough Fridays to get out and enjoy the outdoors. We have an exciting adventure learning program involving all things “OCEAN”! This camp will provide activities that will vary from day to day. Some of the activities include: Sailing, Snorkeling, Paddle Boarding, Hiking, Banana Boat Rides, Ocean Education, Water Safety, Crafts, Reef Walking, Tide Pooling, Swimming, Surfing. Sports and Recreation Camp $35 per day • 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Makai Rec. Center (B-1859) • Ages 5-12 Love sports? Join Youth Programs during Furlough Fridays for Sports and Recreation Camp on Furlough Fridays. A different sports clinic will be offered each week plus tons of fun recreational activities. Craft Camp $35 per day • 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Arts & Crafts Center (B-1889) • Ages 7-12 Let’s get creative! Art projects will include Clay-hand building wheel, Bead Making, Glass Slumping, Card designs, Ceramic Bisque painting and more.
