Hickam Family Child Care—A Home Away From Home Hickam FCC is proven, practical and safe The FCC currently cares for an average of 160 children each month on an hourly, part-day or full-day basis. By providing care, the FCC helps during base exercises, extended duty hours and deployments in addition to the normal 10-hour days. Providers undergo stringent licensing requirements Providers must be able to read and speak English, pass comprehensive background checks (including family members) and complete a basic orientation program prior to licensing. Additionally, within the first 18 months of licensing, providers must complete 15 Air Force standardized training modules equating to 60 hours of training. Finally, providers are required to complete additional training each year similar to training required of Child Development Center employees. Home environments are safe You can rest assured that an FCC home is fully equipped for your child’s safety. That’s because the FCC program lends providers important safety items such as First Aid kits, doorknob covers and safety gates. That’s in addition to monthly home visits to ensure every provider is constantly maintaining all safety standards. Call the FCC office at 449-1879 for more information.
