ITAEWON CULTURE FESTIVAL 용산주말문화축제
Heard of the Itaewon Weekend Culture Festival? Don’t miss out on the last three performances! Come out on June 11 from 4 PM - 6 PM to enjoy live acapella and accordion performances. On June 18 - 19 enjoy live orchestral and modern musical performances. Shows will be held in front of the War Memorial Plaza (녹사평역 광장과 전쟁기 념관) outside of Noksapyeong Station on Seoul Subway Line 6. In addition to these festivities, watch or participate in 거리예술존, the Street Art Zone. In front of the Hamilton Hotel, also near the Noksapyeong Station in 5 locations, expect to see hundreds of performances throughout the month. MEET THE OWNER KIRK KWON THUNDERHORSE
Thunderhorse has been a local favorite for the last four years. Unlike other bars that feature live music, “Thunderhorse is a place for music, with a bar” owner Kirk Kwon explains. As an accomplished sound engineer and avid mixer, Kirk uses his mixing skills daily: “when a band is performing I don’t walk away from the soundboard, I’m involved in their show.” Featuring local and international groups on Friday and Saturday nights, Thunderhorse promises a unique show every time. Kirk continues his mixing beyond the walls of Thunderhorse, offering his private studio and mixing expertise to the bands that perform.
“Thunderhorse is a place for music, with a bar” “My favorite thing [about Seoul] is the diversity of the people, you meet people from all walks of life,” Kirk says excitedly. He loves meeting new people, and believes that Thunderhorse provides the space to build connections because “when [diverse people] are here they’re all the same.”

Pale Ale 4.5% - Gorilla Brewing Co. Aroma: Lavender and strawberry up front coming partly from the esters and hops followed by a bit of honey and a subtle barley background note as it warms. Appearance: Deep yellow to a very light orange. Clear with a subtle white head that’s present until the last sip. Flavor: Bitter balanced with a subtle sweetness in the midpalate. Strawberry and papaya. Just like the aroma you get a subtle grainy background malt note. I also get some citrus notes in the middle. Mouthfeel: Moderately carbonated with a medium body and a dry follow through. Overall Impression: A good take on the classic style. An easy drinking, full flavored pale ale that starts hoppy and tilts towards the malt as it warms. The great thing about beer is that each individual tastes something different.
