Croc killers?

A huge dead crocodile was found in the Luvhuvhu River that passes by the rural villages of Ha-Matsika, Tshikonelo and Malavuwe outside Thohoyandou on Sunday.

Rumours going around are that the river might be poisoned and, according to a community leader at Ha-Matsika, Mr Layton Mabalani, the

villagers are worried that they might be drinking contaminated water. He said that the dead crocodile had been discovered by a shepherd looking for cattle.

The shepherd informed the communities, who went to the river in larger numbers and later removed the dead crocodile from the water. However, a sharp object had apparently been used to remove some body

parts.

According to Mabalani, about two years ago, four dead crocodiles were also discovered “and we never established what caused their death”.

Another community member at Malamangwa-Tshamutavha, Mr Pono Netshamutavha, who has a field near where the crocodile was found, said some days ago, a bad smell seemed to come from the river.

Mortuary gutted by bolt of lightning

One of the bodies in the mortuary was partially damaged during the fire.

Mr Teffo Titus Lesitsa, owner of Gukhula Funeral Services and Burial Society, which is situated near the Mutale Police Station in Tshilamba, said he got a phone call while he was at the gravesite of Ha-Mandiwana village in Nzhelele, preparing for a funeral the next day (Friday).

“I was devastated about the information, because in the mortuary refrigerators, there were two corpses waiting for burial. When arrived, I found that the roof of the building was gutted by the fire, a Nissan Navara

Lesitsa gave the assurance that those families who used the burial society for funerals

Municipality takes steps against “partying” councillor

By Anton van Zyl Makhado Municipality’s “partying” councillor has been suspended for at least a month. She will also forfeit her salary, which will be donated to the Covid-19 Solidarity Fund.

Last week, a video started circulating on social media, showing Cllr Tebogo Mamorobela allegedly contravening the Covid-19 lockdown regulations. She is shown in the video celebrating her 39th birthday at a friend’s house. The group celebrate with lots of liquor while seemingly mocking the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele.

Cllr Mamorobela holds a very senior position in the Makhado Council and, on occasion, performed duties as acting mayor of the municipality. She is part of the executive committee where she is Head of Corporate Services.

Last Thursday, the ANC Vhembe

Region condemned the alleged conduct of the councillor and recommended that she be temporarily suspended. “The Political Management Team (PMT) of the municipality, after reporting the allegations to the ANC, met with the councillor this morning and informed her of their decision, taking into consideration the sensitivity of the gross misconduct allegations at hand,” a press release said.

The PMT recommended that Cllr Mamorobela recuse herself from the activities of the municipality until the matter is finalized by the court. A month’s salary is also to be deducted from her allowance and the matter must be referred to the Ethics committee for further processing. Mamorobela was also requested to issue a public apology.

“We strongly believe that this will send a strong warning to all our councillors that we should lead

exemplary lives and respect all decisions of the central government and the ANC,” the spokesperson for the ANC Vhembe Region, Tshifhiwa Dali, said.

The matter is already in court, after the Democratic Alliance laid a criminal charge at the Makhado Police Station last Tuesday. Mamorobela and two other people had to appear in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where the case was postponed to the following day. They had to pay bail of R1 000 each.

On Friday, Mamorobela appeared in court alongside a local businessman, Harold Musobi (50), and Khathutshelo Matshusa (33).

Their case was postponed to 5 June for further investigations and bail was extended.

On Friday, the Makhado Municipality released a press statement in which residents are encouraged to adhere to the regulations. “As a

Municipality, we are encouraged by the majority of our residents who continue to respect the lockdown regulations and also by the work of our councillors and officials who are educating people about the effects of corona virus. We want to encourage all our residents to adhere to all regulations at this time when we are faced with the disease which does not look at the status or colour of the people,” the statement reads.

The mayor, Cllr Samuel Munyai, then provided some clarity on the steps taken against Cllr Mamorobela. “After deliberations with the councillor, the Political Management Team resolved that the councillor (will) recuse herself from all municipal activities,” he said. The councillor will donate one month’s salary to the Covid-19 Solidarity Fund and the matter will be referred to the Council’s Ethics Committee for investigation.

started with the project shortly after the beginning of the lockdown by consulting the chiefs in different areas around the Vhembe region and have so far assisted more than 200 families. “We work together with the community and traditional leaders, who identify the needy and help where possible. Our other wish is to start a self-sustaining project in the village, so that the residents can sustain themselves,” she said.

The Democratic Alliance and the Makhado Municipality are saddened by the passing away of Councillor Albert Mafhala on Monday.

Mafhala represented the Makhado DA as caucus whip from 2013 until time of his death.

He died at the age of 56 years after struggling with his health.

Born in Tshitavha Vhulaudzi village, Nzhelele, Mafhala went to Vhulaudzi Secondary School.

He later studied for a BA at the University of South Africa. At the same university he obtained several certificates, including a Practitioner’s Certificate in Adult Basic Education and Training and Municipal Public Accounts.

Before becoming the DA caucus whip, Mafhala worked as a manager at Joubert Sawmills and as a journalist for a magazine called Next. He also served as NUM union member.

His son Arnold said that his father was a very humble man who showed respect to other people. “The whole community feels that we have lost a man who changed their lives. My father is remembered by many around our area because of the role he played in The late Cllr Albert Mafhala.

Sending a message of condolence, Mr Jacques Smalle, DA Limpopo leader, described Mafhala as a hardworking and dedicated councillor who always served the Makhado community with commitment and passion.

The mayor of the Makhado Local Municipality, Cllr Samuel Munyai, also sent a message of condolence. “The municipality is disheartened by the untimely death of Cllr Mafhala. He was a reliable and engaging individual who was also down to earth,” said Mayor Munyai.

Cllr Mafhala is survived by his wife Johanna and five children.

Two of the children are still at school. A memorial service will be held on Thursday and the burial will take place on Friday at Tshitavha village.

The MEC for Social Development, Ms Nkakareng Ragoali, called on community development workers and community leaders to help the government in identifying the needy to benefit from food parcels to be given to poor communities.

“We understand that some communities are not working due to the fact that their jobs were put on hold during this difficult period of COVID-19. We have encouraged people to stay at home during the lockdown, but we have to give out some food parcels to those people who have serious challenges in getting foods,” said Ragoali.

The MEC, who was joined by Khosikhulu Mphephu Ramabulana, Mayor Samuel Munyai of the Makhado Local Municipality and some councillors, handed over food parcels as part of the COVID-19 lockdown during an event at the Dzanani Royal Palace in Nzhelele on Thursday.

According to Ragoali, Limpopo is a rural province, with most of the people relying on odd jobs, which were put on hold due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

“While staying at home, they need food

to eat and I urge businesspeople to help in this regard.”

She congratulated Khosikhulu Toni Mphephu Ramabulana on taking the lead in remembering the poor and needy communities and urged other traditional leaders to learn from him and do something for the needy and poor.

Just when some poor and needy people were queuing to get their food parcels, representatives of the Venda Muslim Community arrived with trucks full of food parcels to be given to the needy and poor.

Venda Muslim Community, said it was part of their culture to give something to the needy and poor. “We will also pack our trucks full and travel with social development workers when distributing food parcels to the rural communities. We have the belief that if we give to poor and needy people, God will give us more,” said Patel.

One of the beneficiaries who received food parcels, Ms Tshilidzi Mampuru of Ha-Makatu village, said life was hard without food during this difficult period of the lockdown, but things had changed for the better for them as beneficiaries.

has been making a living from those activities for almost a decade. “Before the lockdown, I was assured of getting around R100 for guarding the cars while people were worshipping. That money was enough for my food for the week. Now that I am not sure when the lockdown will end, I am really in trouble,” said Munyai.

On Tuesday, 14 April, Limpopo Mirror met Munyai at Soutpansberg Refrigeration, waiting to help shoppers load their parcels into their vehicles. It was early in the morning, around 08:00, but he was sweating.

“I cannot stay home and relax. Today I decided to be at this spot, hoping I would get people who needed my assistance carrying food parcels to their vehicles. So far, I have managed to load one bakkie, so I am now waiting for anyone,” he said.

Munyai said some shoppers gave him R10 or R20 after loading. He appreciates any amount offered.

Asked why he could not seek assistance from the relevant authorities, Munyai said he was sent from one office to the next and, at times, was advised to go to Vuwani, his rural home.

For him, going to his rural home is not an option. “I do not have money for transport. For me it is better if I go along to help people load their groceries into their vehicles,” he said.

Beloved bishop from ELCSA passes away News from Dzanani The northern diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (ELCSA) and the Christian fraternity are mourning the death of their beloved spiritual father, Bishop Nditsheni Edwin Khodoga of Dzanani, who passed away on 11 April after a long illness.

Bishop Khodoga carried a huge responsibility as the ELCSA’s Northern Diocese includes Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and some parts of Gauteng.

Due to the strict funeral regulations gazetted by the government during the lockdown period, only 50 mourners attended the funeral service at Dzanani last Friday (17 April). The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa will organize a memorial service after the lockdown period, of which the details will be communicated to the entire public.

In a death notice issued by the executive secretary of the ELCSA’s Northern Diocese, Rev E Mnisi, congregants

were requested to observe a moment of silence, followed by candle lighting and a prayer in their homes during the day of the funeral.

A very senior clergyman in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa, Khodoga was an untouchable dribbling wizard during his soccer heydays. Kleinboy, as he was affectionately called on the soccer field, Khodoga exchanged the soccer ball for a Bible when he registered at Mpumulo Theological Seminary and graduated in theology.

He was ordained on 28 May 1995 in the northern diocese.

He was the eighth bishop of the northern diocese. He served Bosmo Parish from 1995 to 2004 and Acornhoek Parish from 2005 to 2006 in the Bohlabela Circuit.

In 2006, he was elected the dean of Botshabelo Circuit and was appointed executive secretary of the northern diocese from March 2014 until 2018. He was elected the bishop of the northern diocese in April 2018.

Towards the end of the same year

(2018) he became ill and was in and out of hospitals regularly until his death on 11 April.

Senior traditional leaders must also help the poor

“We understand that some poor and needy families have to go to bed hungry as they are locked down because of the outbreak of the coronavirus,” he said.

Mphephu-Ramabulana, who was joined by Makhado Mayor Samuel Munyai, Thovhele Vele Kutama, the chairperson of the Vhembe House of Traditional Leaders, and some councillors, handed over food parcels during a function held in Dzanani Royal Palace in Nzhelele area on Wednesday.

The food parcels will help them during this difficult time of the lockdown. Some of their jobs were put on hold for a while, while others are unemployed and depending on a child-support grant.

them. He urged other traditional leaders to emulate him and think of giving to the poor and needy people in the communities.

The food parcels were sponsored by Khosikhulu Mphephu-Ramabulana and Premjee Cash and Carry in Louis Trichardt, and the needy people were identified by the councillors and community leaders.

Makhado Mayor Samuel Munyai said the war against poverty and unemployment could be won if the government, traditional leaders, and businesspeople could join hands. He said some people’s jobs were put on hold after the outbreak of the coronavirus and they needed some help in the form of food parcels.

One of the needy persons who received a food parcel, Ms Nomsa Denga of Ha-Manngo village in the Nzhelele area, said life was hard during the lockdown and the food parcels had come “during the time we eagerly need them”.

She said that she was thankful for the kindness the Vhavenda leader had shown them.

Shelter a temporary relief for the town’s homeless

The lockdown has finally brought shelter for 17 homeless people in Louis Tri­chardt.

“We are comfortably staying at this place during this lockdown period,” said Blessing Moyo, one of the homeless people brought by the police to a shelter at the Makhado Show Grounds earlier this month.

Moyo, 23, who is Zimbabwean, has been living outside a car wash next to Makhado Crossing mall for a year. Some of the others in the shelter are also Zimbabweans, and some are from Malawi.

No shelter has been available for homeless people in Louis Trichardt for almost two years after Tshitandani Child Care Centre in Tshikota was closed in 2018 by the Department of Social Development. The shelter used to accommodate about 20 homeless boys.

Moyo said, “I had to leave Zimbabwe at the end of 2018 in search of work in South Africa.

My first stop was Musina, but I could not find any form of employment, so I went on to Louis Trichardt. I requested to stay next to a car wash next to Makhado Crossing. Fortunate-

ly, the owner of the car wash asked me at times to assist in washing cars and paid me according to the number of cars I washed per day. On average, I used to get almost R100.” The car wash is now closed.

Dino Mavesera, also from Zimbabwe, said: “I really wanted to be in Pretoria, but I had no money for transport. I decided to look for any casual jobs here in Louis Trichardt but could not get any. Life was very hard for me. I could go for days without food. I used to sleep at an open space near Makhado Crossing Mall,” he said, adding that the shelter came as a relief at the moment.

shelter, the men were listening to Zimbabwean music on a mobile phone.

Communities around Louis Trichardt and the municipality have donated food. The meals are prepared by volunteers from Tshikota. The men have three meals per day.

Two rooms have been made available, with mattresses and blankets, but they say they are short of soap.

Asked what their plans would be after the lockdown, some said they would go on to Gauteng; others said they were not sure yet of their plans.

The mooing of cattle and bleating of goats and sheep punctuate the stillness of the day at the rocky and hilly Khambele village (Tshikonelo). Hardly any people are moving about the streets, perhaps a sign that the residents are adhering to the observance of the national lockdown.

Headman Vho-Samuel Nekhambele sits in the shade of a tree, his stare is fixed on a dry communal tap. He has been sitting like this for the past three hours, waiting for the water to get to his village.

“We share the water valve with Phaweni village, and we understand that the water reached Phaweni some four hours ago, and we are expecting it to reach us anytime from now,” he said. “Once it reaches us, I’ll announce to the people to come out and fetch water from the tap, so that not everyone – including children – find themselves roaming the village unnecessarily, so that children might end up not caring about social distancing during this time of the coronavirus pandemic.”

He stated that, in the previous years, water used to get to them without any problems, but these days it has become hard, and they must wait for it for hours. “We understand that we get water from Xikundu; there’s a dam or reservoir there,” he said. “We share the very water pipeline with many other villages. But then it is sort of a heartache for us to go for over two to three weeks without water. Most of our people are unemployed, and they can’t afford to drill boreholes of their own.”

He adds that the only answer to the water problem in the village was for the district municipality to consider reviving an old borehole and set up a water station that would serve the entire village.

“We are about 20 households here, but then we stay on an isolated piece of land. So, it will be good for the municipality to arrange for the reactivation of the old borehole here,” he said.

“This kind of old borehole reviving can be a good solution even to other villages as well.”

Meanwhile, a white hardbody bakkie arrives at the communal tap and a man and a lady, with two children, get off and exchange pleasantries with the headman.

“We are from Makhasa village, our dear excellency,” said the man, Mr Simon Maluleke.

“We have 35 empty bottles and we ask to fill them with water. We have no water at all in our village. We normally survive as informal businesspeople, but now we are not earning a living because we are observing the lockdown. We only broke it now to come here to fetch water.”

Makhasa is situated some seven kilometres away from Khambele village. “We are going to fill all these 35 empty bottles and they will last us until Friday,” says Mrs Ivy Maluleke. “We used R150 to put some fuel in the car, which might have been used for some food in the home.

When we voted the ANC into power, they told us water was free – but now we have got to buy that ‘free’ commodity.”

These are the words of local reggae star, Justice Mbedzi of Tshipise Tsha Sagole village outside Musina.

This comes after the 2019 Tshivenda Music Awards Reggae category winner has been stalked on several occasions by unfamiliar males who were propositioning him on his social media inboxes.

“It started sometime last year when one of my friends called me and told me that a rumour was going around that I am a gay. I really did not take

it seriously and thought it was just a baseless rumour that would disappear within a short space of time. But it became more serious when I started getting proposal messages in my inbox from males whom I do not even know.

At one time, one of them also asked me to send some nude pictures and commented that he wanted to be my partner. I responded that I am not a gay and he must stop stalking me.”

Famously known as Just-Ice by his adoring fans, Mbedzi said his latest embarrassment came last week. “I received a nude picture from a male person whom I don’t know in my inbox.

He said he was interested in me and proposed that we become lovers. I categorically told him that I am not that type and even posted in all my social media pages that I am being stalked. I even issued a public warning on all my social media pages that these people should stop what they are doing.”

He said he was convinced that these were people who realized that his music career was blossoming, and they

wanted to destroy that career.

“My last resort is to come to the media to help me to stop these people who are stalking me. I have just released my new album, Thonga ya Vhavenda, which is selling like hot cakes and I believe that these people are jealous of my success.

Despite their efforts, I will concentrate on my music career and work hard to build my brand.

If this persists, I will have no other option but to register a case with the police, so that those responsible should be arrested and spend time in jail.”

Justice Mbedzi

spokesperson, Mr Matodzi Ralushai, said that Khambele fell within the population-explosion area where fewer villages used to be in the old days and now new villages were mushrooming, hence the need for more water. “Those people should be receiving water from Xikundu, but then I’ll check as to what the problem is, and then we’ll see how better they can be assisted.”

He adds that the suggestion of making the use of a borehole water system in villages which have fewer households is a good idea worth looking into, from the side of the municipality. “I will check with our technical team to find out about Makhasa so that, if there’s no water at all, they are catered for in any manner for the meantime.”

Dyondzo Ngwenyama (12), from a family of 11 members, is relieved that the family might buy some bread instead of buying water this week.

Listen to The Dub Master

By Tshifhiwa Mukwevho Steve Netshishivhe, also known as The Dub Master, is a reggae artist focusing on dub music and he has so far earned himself respect among reggae music lovers in Africa.

The Dub Master had released his debut full-length reggae album, I ya konda, in 2011, followed by Only Him can Save Us (2015), I Dub What I Like (2016), and Deep Roots of Dub (2017).

All those albums comprised songs that all resonated with root sounds and rhythms of African and Jamaican descent.

“Dub is my life – I dub what I like,” he said. “I create the kind of music which many people enjoy and even beg for more. It’s quality music which you can listen to many times without getting bored. I last released a fulllength album in 2017 and lovers of Dub reggae have been calling me and saying I should come back with a new album.”

His latest project is entitled Greed-

iness of Dub and Otherwise, and listening to it is a refreshing moment that no lover of good music would want to miss. Mashudu Tshithavhane said he was forced to go to study at Gumani Technical High School in Vondwe, but because that was not what he really wanted, he failed Grade 10 in 2012. In the following year, he changed schools and went to Nthetsheleseni Secondary School, so that he could follow his first love, radio, after passing Grade 12.

"It was when I was doing Grade 10 when I became knowledgeable about what career path I wanted to follow. I understood that I had to study either journalism or media studies, because I had always wanted to be behind the microphone," he said.

DJ Roxy keeps listeners updated about Covid-19

By Tshifhiwa Mukwevho Rofhiwa Millicent Munyai, known as "Milly” or “DJ Roxy" to hundreds of thousands of Makhado FM listeners, is a voice that keeps listeners entertained, informed, and engaged in current affairs.

With the Covid-19 national lockdown in effect, she is part of the radio crew who are hosting special shows between 10:00 and 14:00 on Makhado FM. “Our special shows comprise updates on Covid-19, current affairs and music to keep listeners active and entertained as they are at home and those who are at work, since we have essential workers,” she said. “We are really in a critical situation as a society because we have not had a pandemic of this nature before.”

DJ Roxy’s main and original show is Yowa, Afternoon Drive at 15:0018:00. “When Pres Cyril Ramaphosa announced the national lockdown, people observed it strictly but as days went on, they started to move around everywhere and seemingly without any reasonable purpose,” she said. “The coronavirus is a real threat and it seems like some of our people are taking it lightly. We need to stand together and remain at our homes if we want to win.”

She said that people did not only have to remain in their homes when there were routine patrols by the law enforcers. “Be your own guard,” she said. “So, according me, I think it is not fair for doing things because you are

being monitored, do it because you want to be safe. So, stay home and be safe, that's our priority now.”

“I started falling in love with radio at an early age, because back then there was no electricity to keep TVs on all the time around the village, and during the night and early in the morning we used to listen to radio before we went to school,” she said.

She said that she was a hard worker, and she believed in dedication and the drive of passion.

“Without dedication and passion, one gets nowhere,” she said.

New Tshivenda poetry collection for Hadzhi

By Tshifhiwa Mukwevho The innovative author Fhatuwani Hadzhi is back with a Tshivenda poetry collection, Tshililo tsha Tsiwana, which can be literally translated as The Cry of an Orphan.

Hadzhi is an accomplished poet who has had his poems appear on the online Avbob poetry page, which publishes the best new South African poems by both emerging and established poets.

“My new book consists of 21 hard-hitting poems that are worth reading and they have been crafted for life’s different occasions and scenarios,” he said. “Maybe this is the other reason why many people had called to appreciate the beauty of the poems contained in the book. They are the poems that are embedded in political issues, education, upbringing, and moral decay that needs to be rebuilt.”

Hadzhi has been writing for over two decades. He added

that what made him a good writer was that he always bought good books and read them. “I carry a book wherever I go,” he said. “Sometimes reading doesn’t have to read a whole big volume of a book at a go, if you do not have the time to do so; go at it bit by bit, and you will enjoy reading.”

He added: “My passion for writing keeps me going. In poetry, or through poetry, I have found a way of articulating my feelings and my worldview without fear or censor. I speak my mind even at the oddest of times in our society.”

He is always remembered for his previous publications, which are Episode Craft, and The Voice of Africa.

The author's love of literature saw him writing study guides like Across the Board, Comfort Herself Grades 8-11.

He has submitted articles for publication in a variety of magazines through the years and that is how he hones his writing skills.

success is luck or having a lot of money, so I wrote it to give the genuine description of success," he said.

Tshivenda music artist, a resident of Mukula Thondoni village, Mr Mbangiseni Edward Mphaga, said he could not stand by and look on while the government was calling upon everybody and various institutions to close ranks and make their contribution in the campaign to mitigate the spread of the killer coronavirus.

Mbangi, as he is commonly known, said his fourth project, Coronavirus (Covid 19), had almost been ready for recording when the State President had announced the national lockdown last month. Instead of recording the album, Mbangi decided to put the project on hold, so that he could add a song that spoke to the situation the country found itself in as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He revealed that it had taken him one day to compile and record the song, Coronavirus, which happens to be the title track. The album was recorded and released on Thursday, 9 April. The title track was played for the first time on local radio stations two days after it was released.

The album consists of six songs.

Some of the songs that are making the album an instant hit with the

fans include Vhafumakadzi ndi vha ndeme, Faranani, Shangoni zwithu zwi a konda and the title song itself, Coronavirus.

Mbangi’s music career dates to 2014 when he released his debut album, Bridget ni Wanga, consisting of seven songs. The album paved the way for the second project, Mukula, which was released two years later.

Mbangi and his group, Mphagani Sounds, went back to the recording studio again in 2018.

His third album, Tata Mandela, was released towards the end of that year. According to Mbangi, Tata Mandela is still in demand, even though it has been on the market for a period exceeding 12 months now.

Rendani Sikhwivhilu, known as “Rendys”, is a seasoned Phalaphala FM morning-driveshow (Vhandilani) producer.

Sikhwivhilu started his primary school educcation at Tshishonga Primary in Thohoyandou.

He attended Mphaphuli Nngweni and matriculated at Thohoyandou High School in 1994.

He received a degree in criminal justice from the University of Venda. When he was still a student, he went to Oujda in Morocco as part of an All Africa Human Rights moot court competition, where the Univen students took position 6 out of 43 African universities. He was a volunteer with the South African Student Organization in Korongwe, Tanzania, in 1996.

He received the presidential programme award for senior university students from the South African Management Development institute in 1997.

Sikhwivhilu worked as the court interpreter at Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court and joined Univen Community radio when he presented the morning drive show for three years. He was recruited by Phalaphala FM in 1999.

In 2001, he presented the station’s afternoon drive show, and in 2003, he was the producer of the SABC’s educational programmes. He earned several of the highest accolades for the best educational programme presenter from SABC educational.

In 2004, he was announced as the SABC’s best educational producer in the Limpopo region.

He has 13 years’ experience working as a producer at the station and he produced both the afternoon drive show, Dziaorowa, and the morning drive show, Vhandilani. Leopards ready to finish the season on a high note

By Frank Mavhungu Black Leopards are always ready to compete, even if the league gives the teams only three days to resume their league programme.

This was revealed by the team’s head coach, Mr Alan Clark, in an interview with Limpopo Mirror.

Speaking from his home in Durban, Clark said his team had not stopped training since the president had announced the national lockdown last month.

He revealed that they were using an App called Zoom through which he could monitor the players’ training sessions from home. According to him, the players have a training session every morning from where they are and that he could monitor every player and give advice when the players were deviating from their training programmes.

Clark further indicated that the training programme has assisted the players to remain fit and ready for any eventuality. Asked about the players’ state of health, the former Amazulu assistant coach confirmed that their two first-choice goalkeepers, Jonas Mendes and King Ndlovu, would be available for selection when the league activities resumed.

According to the 40-year-old tactician, King Ndlovu has fully recovered from his fractured ankle.

He further indicated that the keeper has joined his teammates

in their daily training sessions. He also stated that their Guinea-Bissau international, Jonas Mendes, was on a physiotherapy programme.

Asked to comment about the team’s performance since his appointment as the team’s head coach, Clark said that he felt that they had underperformed as a team.

He reiterated the fact that Black Leopards did not belong where they were at present because they had a lot of talent in their camp.

Lidoda Duvha are languishing at the bottom of the log with 20 points accumulated from 24 outings. Clark appealed to the team’s fans not to press the panic button, saying things would change for the better in their camp in the six remaining league matches.

She established the Women and Sport South Africa (WASSA) by convincing the late Minister Steve Tshwete to take the initiative. In 1996, WASSA was formed and started to work to bring the women-and-sport agenda to the forefront.

She was appointed by Technikon Pretoria in 1999 as the head of marketing and transformation, the first African woman appointed in that position. By Frank Mavhungu While most of the GladAfrica Championship League teams are only waiting for the league to make an announcement regarding the date on which the programme will resume, the situation is totally different at the Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) camp.

According to the team’s caretaker coach, Mr Lucky “King Mchichwa” Nelukau, Vhadau Vha Damani are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for the resumption of the league activities.

Nelukau was the team’s assistant coach until the head coach, Mr Vladislav Heric, was placed on special leave last month. He revealed that it was business as usual in their camp.

To demonstrate that they are hungry for promotion, TTM have been training twice a day since the beginning of the national lockdown.

He stated that each training session lasted for 90 minutes. Asked how he was managing to monitor the players from a distance, the former Black Leopards player said that TTM might

be campaigning in the lower division, but they were more advanced when it came to technology. According to him they were using an App called Zoom.
