Almost seven years after completion of the Nandoni Dam project, residents of Limpopo are yet to bene­fit from this R2,1 billion project, with their taps remaining as empty as government’s promises.

During a visit by the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) to Vhembe last week, yet another promise was made to deliver water, with Mr Alson Matukane, the Director of Water Affairs in Limpopo, announcing that an amount of R700 million has been put aside to address the challenges at Nandoni.

The biggest challenge facing government at this stage is the completion of the pipeline network meant for getting the water to the people.

This process, however, is marred by prolonged legal battles between government and the appointed contractor. Matukane said it had come to their attention that the pipes that were used in the project were of poor quality and that the department was in the process of prosecuting the previous contractor for poor workmanship in order to recoup the funds.

He said, however, that the litigation was taking too long and this was the reason why additional funds were made available to erect parallel pipes, so as to speed up the provision of water in the area.

“We have approached the treasury,

and funds have been made available.

We are now in the process of appointing a new contractor and we are hopeful that, by March 2012, residents of this area will be using water from Nandoni,” said Matukane.

Not only the Vhembe District Municipality is embroiled in legal battles with regard to the completion of the much-needed pipeline, but also the Mopani District Municipality (MDM).

A costly legal battle between the MDM and two companies, who initially tendered for the building of the pipeline between Nandoni and the Nsami Dam (Giyani), is currently raging in the Constitutional Court.

The MDM awarded the R200 million tender to Tlong Re Yeng Trading and Projects in November last year.

The court has since granted Cycad Pipelines and Esorfranki Pipelines an interdict against the MDM from continuing with the construction of the pipeline. This after the two comapnies questioned the processes followed by the MDM in awarding the tender to Tlong Re Yeng. Cycad and Esofranki’s bids were respectively R40 milion and R10 million less than that of Tlong Re Yeng.

A lawyer, who has a vested interest in the case, said “this will cost the MDM” and added that the serious allegations about the MDM’s handling of the tender could also “bite the MDM”.

The highlight of the event is the Telkom Highway Africa New Media awards, which were handed over on Sunday night. Zoutnet entered the Newsfiler news management system that the company helped develop over the past two years. This open-source system makes use of a browser-based interface and brings together all aspects of news gathering and editing. Among other features, it makes it possible for journalists to post stories from any location. The judges were so impressed with the system that they awarded it first prize in the corporate category. Accused warned to get affairs in order The case against a well-known businessman from Madombidza, Prince Mulalo Ludere, was yet again postponed on Monday. This time he was present in the Louis Trichardt Regional court.

Ludere recently made headlines when police wanted to question him on single counts of rape and attempted murder that were brought against him by a local woman. These cases were later withdrawn against him.

The 40-year-old Ludere appeared in the Louis Trichardt Regional Court on Monday, together with five co-accused, on a charge of the illegal possession of a firearm. He appeared with

Tsepo Moepi (39) of Seshego, Alfred Nkuna (40) of Mamelodi, Lesetja Reuben Moloto (39) of Polokwane, Christopher Maleka of Polokwane and Jeffrey Nnkwamato Maphala (45) also of Mamelodi. Maphala, however, was not present. No explanation regarding his whereabouts could be provided.

Their appearance follows Moepi and Nkuna’s arrest in December last year. According to information available, the two were arrested after local police received a tip-off regarding a planned robbery. This led to the pair’s arrest near Eltivillas on December 28 last year. When the police searched the vehicle

they were driving, they found two unlicensed 9mm pistols.

Moepi and Nkuna implicated their co-accused, who was subsequently arrested. All of them were released on bail and their case was postponed until July 25. It was during this court appearance that Maphala and Ludere failed to appear in court “due to medical reasons.” Warrants for their arrest were issued but held over by the court to give them time to hand in a doctor’s certificate as proof that they were sick.

All six men were warned to have their funds and instructions to their legal representatives in order. Their case was postponed until October 4.

Smail vir eers in Weskoppies opgeneem

Makhado Police have opened a case of reckless or negligent driving, following Sunday´s motor accident in the crossing in front of Absa Bank in Louis Trichardt. The accident happened around 14:00 on the corner of Songozwi and Krogh Street. According to police spokesperson Capt Maano Sadike, the two vehicles in the picture were driving in Krogh Street in opposite directions when they collided. The exact cause of the accident will only be known when the police have finished their investigations. All involved in the accident were treated for minor cuts or bruises.

Mr Phillip Potgieter was awarded the Soutpansberg Chamber of Commerce’s Entrepreneur of the Year award during their annual gala evening on Saturday. The award is made to a relatively new non-franchise business which either involves a new idea or new concept, product or service.

Potgieter, with business partner Flip Potgieter, received the award for their new nut factory, Macridge. Not only do they crush nuts for other farmers, they also, among others, manufacture cooking oil and bio-diesel. Everything on their farm runs on their own bio-diesel. Kompetisie

Streek se fotograwe kan begin nader staan vir kalenderfotokompetisie Die tyd het weer aangebreek vir die Zoutpansberger en Limpopo Mirror se baie gewilde jaarlikse kalenderfoto-kompetisie. ‘n Totale prysgeld van R6 000 is op die spel, met 12 weninskrywings wat gekies sal word, een foto vir elke maand. Die weninskrywings sal in ‘n A2-formaat 2012-kalender opgeneem word wat deur die Zoutpansberger en Limpopo Mirror vir bemarkingsdoeleindes gebruik sal word.

Die kalender sal ook teen ‘n minimale bedrag te koop wees.

Slegs hoë-kwaliteit foto’s met temas wat duidelik uniek is aan die Soutpansberg sal oorweeg word. Wildlewefoto’s is welkom, alhoewel die koerantgroep meer inskrywings wil sien rond­ om die streek se kulturele erfenis, sy mense en landskapstonele.

Die kompetisie word beperk tot ‘n maksimum van vyf inskrywings per deelnemer. Die deelnemer moet self vooraf sy/haar vyf keuses maak.

• 303-SKIETKOMPETISIE Die

Soutpansberg Skietklub bied op 24 September weer hul gewilde .303-skietkompetisie aan (ook vir ander jaggewere).

Die kompetisie vind plaas by die Louis Trichardt Skietbane en skuts kan vanaf 08:00 inskryf. Die eerste skote klap vanaf 09:00. Die laaste inskrywings is om 15:00 waarna die prysuitdeling sal plaasvind. Twintig rondte per skietoefening word benodig en deelname kos R20 per item. Daar sal oor afstande van 110m, 200m (valplaat) en 300m (wat vyf proefskote insluit) geskiet word.

This year, the Soutpansberg Chamber of Commerce’s annual Newsmaker of the Year award went to Major Catherine Labuschagne.

The award was given during the Chamber’s annual gala evening on Saturday at Northgate Lodge. Labuschagne made news headlines when she recently became the first female pilot to fly the supersonic Gripen fighter jet. The other finalist in the category was Lieutenant Colonel Musa “Midnight” Mbhokota, recently appointed officer commanding of 2 Squadron on AFB Makhado. Mnr. Stephen Hoffman, voorsitter van die Soutpansberg Distrikslandbou Unie (SDLU) het lede in die Vivo/Dendron-gebied ingelig dat die Departement van Landbou hulp aangebied het om boere te help om die indringing en beheer van Cereus Peruvianus (Nagblom) en die Litjieskaktus aan te pak.

Mnr. Japie van der Goot, voorsitter van die Bo Brak Boerevereniging (BV) het gesê dat die Nagblom goed bekend is in die gebied. Die plan groei met lang, regop stamme met skerp dorings op die kante van die stam.

Die stam se kleur is grys/groen. Dit is veral bekend omdat die pragtige wit blomme net een nag oop is. Die vrug is rooi, die vleis wit met swart pitjies.

Litjieskaktus is ‘n lae, wydverspreide struik wat in die oop veld

selde ‘n hoogte van meer as ‘n halwe meter bereik. Die effens afgeplatte liggroen, vlesige stingellitte is 60mm tot 200mm lang en 10mm tot 20mm breed en is gewapen met naald­skerp dorings, 10mm tot 30mm lank, met weerhakies. Die litjieskaktus is waarskynlik ‘n basterplant wat sy oorsprong in sentrale en oostelike Argentinië en in Uruguay in Suid Amerika het. Van der Goot het gesê die Departement van Landbou het aangedui dat hulle graag grondeienaars wil help om van die indringers ontslae te raak. ‘n Parasiet sal aan plaaseienaars beskikbaar gestel word om die plante teen te werk.

Champions Academy becomes a high school New and exciting developments are under way at Champions Academy Combined School. For the first time, there will be an intake of Grade 8s next year, as well as a new principal for the senior phase.

For years now, parents have asked Ms Sonja Prinsloo, the founder and director of the school, to offer education beyond Grade 7. There will be a bridging class available to bring students up to standard where necessary.

“Students who apply for Grade 8 will be evaluated. We will need a commitment from the student as well as the parents, in order to be a team who aims for excellence. We go for quality, not quantity,” Prinsloo said on September 9.

“Another development is that the Bible will be part of the core curriculum of the school,” Prinsloo said.

Ms Christa Venter, with 30 years’ teaching experience, has been appointed as principal from next year. For the last 18 years, Ms Venter taught at Emmanuel Christian School in Louis Trichardt . She was head of department for the past five years. As principal of Champions Academy, Venter will be responsible for the day-to-day running

of the school as well as the quality control of the senior phase.

“I am looking forward to the new challenge. I love the built-in counselling in the disciplinary system. Parents are immediately involved to make a difference in the life of the child.

Proper parenting is one of the things closest to my heart. Children need a strong family unit in order to feel safe and secure,” Venter said.

Although Prinsloo will still be involved with the school and the quality control of the junior phase, the appointment of a new principal will free her to follow her broader vision of involvement in the community. “My vision is to train children who drop out of basic maths and reading and writing skills by using the Open School Programme and to train women to generate income by means of a patchwork project,” Prinsloo said.

Champions Academy Combined School is registered with the Limpopo Independent School Association (LISA) as well as the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). They are registered with the Department of Education to take students up to Grade 9 and are in the

process of applying to be an exam centre for Grade 12 for the Independent Examination Board.

Drywer leef, maar onmin oor insleepdiens ‘n Splinternuwe voertuig wat van Durban op pad was na Louis Trichardt is Maandag­ aand (19de) op die N1 afgeskryf, nadat ‘n koedoe vermoedelik voor die voertuig ingespring het. Daar was ook 'n ongelukkige nadraai met die insleep van die voertuig.

Mnr. John Nkwana, 'n drywer vir Werda Toyota, het erge kneuswonde en krapmerke opgedoen, maar is reeds Dinsdag uit die hospital ontslaan en sterk tuis aan.

Die ongeluk het omstreeks 20:00, ongeveer 30km van Louis Trichardt in die Bandelierkopomgewing gebeur. Met die uit­ swenk vir die koedoe het mnr.

Nkwana beheer oor die voertuig verloor, waarna dit omgeslaan en gerol het. Die voertuig was nie van die pad af sigbaar nie. Na ongeveer twee ure het ‘n bebloede mnr. Nkwana daarin geslaag om die pad te bereik. Teen ongeveer 23:00 het ‘n polisievoertuig hom kom help, waarna hy per ambulans hospitaal toe is.

Dinsdagoggend het mnr. Eddie Schlesinger, die eienaar van Werda Toyota, bekommerd geraak toe sy getroue drywer nie opdaag nie. Toyota het by die Makhado polisiestasie vasgestel dat ‘n ongeluk aangemeld is, dat Nkwana waarskynlik in die hospitaal opgeneem is en dat die

voertuig ingesleep is. Hulle het die nommer van die insleepdiens, Mooketsi Towing, verskaf.

Die saak is by Toyota se versekeraar, PSG, aangemeld.

Me. Ralda van Wyk van PSG het dadelik gesê dat die betrokke insleepdiens glad nie by hulle geregistreer is nie.

“Ek en mnr. Schlesinger het na die insleepdiens se perseel gery en bevind dat dit ‘n leë huis in die nuwe uitbreiding is.

Ek was nie seker of my kliënte se voertuig veilig daar sou wees nie. Hulle het betaling vir insleep en dagfooie geëis en wou nie die voertuig gee nie,” het Van Wyk gesê.

Schlesinger het gesê dat hy nog nooit van die diens gehoor het nie. Die voertuig lyk asof dit afgeskryf sal word. ‘n Ongeluk kan enige mens oorkom en kostes kan vinnig ophoop. Die vraag ontstaan hoe jy bepaal wie jou voertuig insleep. Van Wyk sê dat by feitlik al die groot versekeraars daar ‘n padbystanddiens beskikbaar is.

“My advies is dat elke persoon seker moet maak dat hy oor goeie kennis van die betrokke padbystanddiens beskik. In ons geval verskaf ons ook plakkertjies vir die voertuig se ruit, wat ‘n nommer gee wat geskakel kan word deur ‘n persoon wat op die ongeluk afkom, indien die

bestuurder nie in staat is om dit self te doen nie."

Toyota sê dat hul drywer die inligting van sy werkgewer aan die insleepdiens verstrek het.

Die drywer wou Schlesinger self skakel, maar sy selfoon het tydens die ongeluk verloor en niemand op die toneel of by die hospitaal was bereid om vir hom ‘n selfoon te leen nie.

“Ek vind dit vreemd dat die diens oor my besonderhede beskik het, maar my glad nie gekontak het nie,” sê Schlesinger.

Die eienaar van die Mooketsi Towing het Dinsdag aan die Zoutpansberger gesê dat hulle Die nuwe Toyota bakkie wat in die ongeluk betrokke was. nie die eienaar in kennis stel nie, aangesien dit op die polisiever­ slag staan waarheen die voertuig gesleep is.

“Die drywer het ons toestemming gegee om in te sleep,” het die eienaar gesê. Hy het gesê dat sy insleepdiens se drywer van Polokwane af gekom het en vroeër die aand verby die ongelukstoneel gery het. Hy was nie geneë om verder vrae te beantwoord nie en het die selfoon doodgedruk.

Teen laat Dinsdagmiddag het Van Wyk gesê dat hulle daarin geslaag het om ‘n Santammagtigingsnommer te kry wat ‘n insleepdiens verplig om op ‘n gestandardiseerde kostestruktuur te werk.

The police’s help was called in by the owner, and the Nissan was recovered.

During the course of the weekend, three people were also arrested for drunk driving. All 11 suspects will appear in court soon.

Police arrest suspects over weekend The Makhado Police had a busy time over the past weekend and, with the help of the community, managed to apprehend a total of 11 suspects in the Louis Trichardt area.

The first arrest was made on Friday. Three suspects between the ages of 21 and 30 were arrested on separate charges of house breaking. The second arrest was made when two suspects, aged 21 and 26, were caught after

they allegedly stole cash, bank cards and shoes from a farm in broad daylight. This happened on Tuesday. They were caught after a tip-off from members of the public.

Friday evening, a 30-year-old suspect was arrested when he apparently duplicated a key to gain entry to and rob a business premises in Tshikota.

Operation Smile looking for Lim patients

Operation Smile South Africa (OSSA) is calling on all preregistrations from Limpopo for their upcoming surgical mission that will take place from November 2 to 29 later this year.

Founded in 2006, OSSA joined Operation Smile Inc. as its 25th partner country and is based in Cape Town. OSSA medical volunteers provide free surgeries to children and adults throughout Southern and Central Africa who were born with either a cleft lip or palate. This year, also their fifth anniversary, OSSA has teamed up with the Limpopo Provincial Ministry of Health in looking for patients in the province.

Cleft lips and palates are birth defects that occur early in a baby’s embryonic development.

A cleft is an opening in the lip, roof, mouth or soft tissue in the back of the mouth and, in some cases, is accompanied by an opening in the bone of the upper jaw or gums. A cleft palate occurs when the two sides of a palate do not come together, resulting in an opening in the roof of the mouth. Children with this type of facial deformity who do not receive the reconstructive surgery often have difficulty breathing, drinking, eating and speaking. This is apart from the ridicule that patients have to endure. A cleft palate or lip, however, can be fixed in 45

minutes by a plastic surgeon and paediatrician.

The surgical mission will take place in Klerksdorp and pre-registrations will help OSSA determine how many people are in need of corrective surgery.

During a surgical mission, a team of medical and nonmedical volunteers will travel to the North West to provide the surgery.

Triegies in pas met nuwe onderwys ontwikkelinge Een van die faktore wat Laerskool Louis Trichardt in ag geneem het met die skep van nuwe interne bestuursraad posisies, is die jaarlikse nasionale assessering (JNA) wat in Februarie vanjaar deur meer as ses mijoen leerders geskryf is.

Waar nasionale assessering vroeër net op die sowat 600 000 matrieks gerig was, word daar nou vroeg met gestandardiseerde toetsing begin om vas te stel wat in die laer grade ten opsigte van geletterdheid en gesyferdheid gebeur.

Wat laerskole betref, is die uitslae vir Graad 3 en 6 reeds einde Junie deur onderwysminister Angie Motshekga bekendgemaak.

Die geletterdheidsvlak van Graad 3’s in die land staan op 35% en die vlak van gesyferdheid op ‘n skokkende 28%. Slegs 47% van die Graad 3’s behaal bo 35% vir geletterdheid en 34% behaal bo 35% vir gesyferdheid. Die Graad 6’e het ‘n nasionale gemiddeld van 28% in tale en 30% in wiskunde behaal. Die groep Graad 6’e wat bo 35% vir tale en wiskunde behaal, is ‘n skrale 30% en 31% onderskeidelik.

Motshekga sê die doel met die JNA op laerskoolvlak is om die standaarde van individuele leerders, klasse, skole, provinsies en die land as geheel deurlopend te meet.

Laerskool Louis Trichardt se bestuursraad het ‘n

interne senior adjunkhoof pos gekep en me. Irene Adendorff aangestel met die spesifieke verantwoordelikheid om, met die oog op die JNA en die nuwe kurrikulum, die akademiese standaarde te verbeter.

Nog ‘n bestuursraadposisie wat

geskep is na ‘n kritiese analise van ‘n vyf-jaar bestuursplan, is dié van mnr.

Greg Stewart as interne adjunkhoof.

Sy verantwoordelikhede sluit in alle sportontwikkeling, ontwikkeling en bestuur van die terrein, asook hoof van die koshuis en naskoolsentrum.

Old Mutual rewards math excellence In an effort to improve Limpopo’s 2011 matric results in mathematics, Old Mutual Limpopo will be recognising both the top matric mathematics student and the top matric mathematics teacher in each of the five Limpopo district municipalities.

“By offering incentives to both learners and teachers, we are directly supporting the national drive to improve standards of mathematics and science,” says Neckson Shavhani, Chairperson of the Limpopo Provincial Management Board of Old Mutual in Limpopo.

Old Mutual Limpopo will award a cash prize of R10 000 to the top matric student in mathematics in each of the five district municipalities and a cash prize of R5 000 to the best matric mathematics teacher in each district municipality. The award will be done based on year-end results, according to criteria developed and determined by the Department of Education. Winners will be announced when the matric results are made known by the MEC in January.

Voëlkyk op Tshipise Na ‘n harde week se werk het lede van Birdlife Soutpansberg begin September bietjie gaan uitspan op Tshipise.

Die Vrydag is daar net lekker gekuier om die braaivleisvuur, met so ‘n paar voëlspesies wat tussendeur geïdentifiseer is.

Saterdagoggend was almal douvoordag op. Daar is binne die oord en die oord se reservaat voëls gekyk.

Dit was ‘n vrugtevolle oggend en heelwat lede het vyf of meer nuwe spesies gesien wat hulle nog nooit vantevore gesien het nie. Laatmiddag is daar weer voëls gekyk.

“Tshipise se reservaat lewer uitstekende voëllewe op in die oggend en in die laatmiddag bietjie minder voëls, maar baie meer wild. Een van die hoogtepunte was die hordes Kelkiewyne (Sandpatryse) wat laatmiddag kom water drink het,” vertel Barry Fourie van Birdlife Soutpansberg.

Die aand is ‘n klein kompetisie vir klublede (in drie spanne) aangebied. ‘n Silhoeët van ‘n voël is gewys en die spanne moes raai wat die voël was. Negentien silhoeëtte is gewys en terselfdertyd was die lede ook sommer bietjie geleer om na spesifieke kenmerke te kyk, wat hulle in die toekoms sal help met die identifisering van voëls, veral die roofvoëls.

Sondagoggend is daar by Moreson besoek afgelê.

Dank is uitgespreek teenoor die bestuurder van Forever Resorts Tshipise vir die 50% afslag op die besigtigingsvoertuig en die gasvryheid waarmee die klub behandel is. In totaal is 107 voëlspesies die naweek aangeteken.

nd so follow the words, while I am walking paths of righteousness, while I am following the Shepherd, though I walk through the valley of the shadow, I will not fear.

I want to show that this verse does not refer to physical death. You will see from the very structure of the Psalm that it does not mean physical dying.

In the first place, how does the soul get into this valley of the shadow of death? By being sick?

No. David says the soul gets in there by walking in the paths of righteousness. Then again, if the Scripture referred to physical death, when the soul got through it, and got out, it would be in heaven.

When the Christian dies and enters heaven, does he find any enemies there? But this man goes into the valley of troubles and comes out on the other side, and finds his enemies there. He finds a table and a banquet spread in the wilderness, right in the presence of the devil and his enemies. The valley of the shadow is the experience that the child of God goes through in his life. The soul is travelling upon a journey. Jesus does not lead us into real death, but the valley of the shadow of death.

The soul gets into this narrow canyon, the cold shadow of the rock falls over it, and the sun is seemingly down. The mountain has not fallen on the traveller, the lion is not allowed to tear him to pieces, but the shadow of the rock, and the fear of the lion, falls across the lonely traveller. It represents that, after you have become a child of God, the Lord will lead you through experiences which agree exactly with this statement. You may lose property, it may be disruption among the church members and church fellowship, it may be temptations which are strange to you, it may be difficulties in your mind, it may be spiritual problems you cannot solve, or God will allow a chain of circumstances to come around you which you cannot understand, or He may allow your soul to go through certain testings which will try your faith in God to the uttermost.

You were once by the “still waters” but your soul has been travelling into more rugged phases of spiritual life. You are now led into things that are more sublime. The devil tells you, and the ignorant Christians tell you that you have lost your justification, but as you go through the canyon of the shadow of death, God shows you your weakness, and where you absolutely have no confidence in the flesh.

God is constantly drawing you further and further away from creation dependences and He is more and more showing you that you must draw your life from Him, that you are to live with Him, and have fellowship with Him, and so in this experience of passing through the valley of the shadow of death, it is the deeper death in your own Christian life.

While the soul is walking through this valley of the shadow of death, what does it do? It says, in that condition, “You are with me”.

When edible foreskins become a dilemma, I’m lost

I

don’t know about you, but the strangest things can sometimes catch my attention and set me thinking. You know, just a random headline I’ve read or a bit of information overheard gets my few brain cells racing back and forth, making me wonder or causing me to imagine all sorts of things. And the weirdest thing is that, once it has caught my attention, more and more information about it seems to jump out at me.

Take the foreskin saga, for example.

Every morning I make an effort to find out what is happening in the world around me. One of my sources is the Internet, and more specifically Microsoft’s howzit. msn.com. One finds all sorts of interesting snippets on the site, with links to various stories that have made the headlines nationally and internationally.

During one such perusal, I saw a headline about the outrage ex-

pressed by certain groups regarding the use of cut-off foreskins by the cosmetics industry. Now, I don’t know about you, but ever since I was old enough to know and understand about the birds and the bees and the equipment involved in the procreation process, I have been extremely grateful that I never had to experience this particular practice (the circumcision bit, not the procreation part.

That part I like…).

I don’t want to become involved in a discussion about the technical and health issues surrounding the removal of this delicate (and by all accounts very sensitive) piece of tissue or the role and value of doing so as a cultural practice. All I want to say is that I am very happy that neither Hubby and I nor any of my beautiful children ever had to face this choice, i.e. to snip or not to snip. The mere thought of this practice, whether performed on a male or a female, for what-

ever reason, no matter at what age, makes me shudder. I’m squeamish that way, okay?

The part that really drew my attention, however, was the one about the fate of these, apparently very valuable, prepuces.

If I understand correctly, they are not discarded as medical waste, such as might be the case with an appendix or a kidney or whatever organ/limb might have been removed, but are preserved and sold to cosmetics companies for research. These companies pay top dollar for the hundreds of thousands (possibly millions) of foreskins removed surgically in hospitals every year, if this quote from the above-mentioned website is to be believed: “…a potential 2.3 million foreskins are at stake …

remove wrinkles — it can grow new skin for plastic surgery.’”

See what I mean???

As if that is not enough, apparently some families insist on being given the said piece of dermis, either to take home to preserve (how? In a jar on the mantelpiece?) or … wait for it … to eat!! My first reaction when I saw this? You’ve got to be kidding!! No, apparently not. Some hospitals seem unwilling to give up this precious snippet, if my source is to be believed: “Naidoo said one mother had claimed that the hospital refused to give her the foreskin of her son after it was removed.” It’s not clear why the hospital refused or what the family was going to do with the foreskin. I just can’t figure out why anyone would want this kind of memento, whether it is for eating it or preserving it. Eish, I guess the definition of cannibalism has changed…

Vroeg-vroeg het die spanne gewys dat alhoewel nie een van hulle professionele spanne is nie, hulle darem ook nie sommer net daar is vir die plesier nie. Ná twee uitdunrondtes het die spanne van Rubicon Civils, Levubu Spar,

Microbial Solutions en Khoroni Casino sake in die semi-finale uitgespook.

Na ‘n manjifieke vertoning teen Hoërskool Pie­ tersburg in die semi-finale wedstryd, dring die O/19-meisieskrieketspan van Hoërskool Louis Trichardt deur na die finaal van die liga.

Dit is nog nie bekend wie hulle opponente sal wees nie.

Die semi-finaal is op 17 September op Louis Trichardt se tuisveld beslis. Triegies wen die loot en kolf eerste. Die span se bobaas kolwer, Jessica McMurtrie, slaan 149 lopies (nie uit nie) van 189 balle af. Dit is dan ook geen verrassing dat Jessica as Speler van die Wedstryd aangewys is nie.

Amorien Venter en Talita Kloppers is ook vaardig met die kolf en teken onderskeidelik 49 (84 balle) en 38 lopies (49 balle) aan.

Triegies teken 394 lopies vir die verlies van ses paaltjies in hul 50 beurte aan.

Hafeji (23) also put up some on the board. the final of the local Second Indian resistance, but then the wickets started Man of the Match was Greenweli’s Premier League on Sunday. They beat falling. Iillayas took four wickets and Sabbir for his splendid 45 runs.

Die finale rondte van die Limpopo junior muurballiga is Saterdag, 17 September, by die Soutpansberg Muurbalklub beslis. Die liga het bestaan uit drie rondtes wat onderskeidelik plaasgevind het in Tzaneen, Polokwane en Louis Trichardt. Vyf spanne het deelgeneem aan die liga, naamlik Louis Trichardt, Polokwane A en -B, Tzaneen en Capricorn. Polokwane A is die wenners, met Louis Trichardt tweede, Tzaneen derde, gevolg deur Polokwane B en Capricorn.

Louis Trichardt se spelers het hul dank uitgespreek teenoor borge Noordstaal se Elsabé Potgieter en Dirk du Preez vir die borg van die span se hempies. Afgeneem is die span se spelers.
