The widow of the late Mbulaeni Mulaudzi, Tondani, is involved in a court battle with her husband’s parents in connection with his estate. Mulaudzi, a former 800 metre world champion and Olympic silver medallist, died in a vehicle accident on 24 October, at the age of 34.

According to her, Mbulaeni’s parents took all the contents of their house at Muduluni after his funeral.

“With the help of attorney Wisani Baloyi of Wisani Baloyi Inc, I won the case in the Thohoyandou High Court. The sheriff engaged with the Mulaudzi family at Muduluni Village and they recently collected the contents of the house,” she said.

According to attorney Baloyi, Mulaudzi married Tondani in community of property and as such the widow is the joint owner of the estate. “In terms of Section 26 (1) of the Administration of Estates Act 66 of 1966, the executrix in a deceased matter is charged with a duty to take into her custody and control all the assets of the deceased’s estate,” he said.

“The collected goods include a six

My client intends to bring a court application wherein the beneficiary status as nominated by the deceased will be cancelled and that the court should declare that the proceeds of this policy be paid to the estate for the benefit of the deceased’s wife and children of the deceased,” he said.

“Mbulaeni’s mother was requested not to proceed to lodge a claim against the policy until the court has made a finding on our client’s application,” said Baloyi.

Mulaudzi was the third-born and only son of Daniel and Luvhengo Mulaudzi.

The chairperson of the SGB, Mr John Mabunda, said the whole community was shown by him what qualities a leader should have. “He was a person full of initiatives who encouraged his team and pupils to work hard, rather than just talking,” he said.

Mr Sithi went on pension after 40 years of teaching. He started teaching in 1974 and became the principal of Edzisani Primary School in 1980.

At that time the school only had a few classrooms and his office was under a tree.

“When I started teaching at this school, we only had a few classes and toilets, but I encouraged my pupils and teachers to work hard,” he said.

He said the teachers and pupils should continue to learn and cooperate with all community structures. “Cooperation within structures in the community is the core of successful education,” he added.

A former school pupil, Ms Khathutshelo Ramuthaga, said the principal had dedicated his time to the school.

“He was not only focusing on education, but also on the social aspects of life to help us succeed,” she said.

Bail application of alleged serial killer postponed The Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo has postponed the bail application of the alleged Thohoyandou serial killer, Ndivhuwo Ntsieni.

Ntsieni (24), a final year BSc student at the University of Venda, is facing 16 counts, which include murder, attempted murder, rape, attempted rape, kidnapping and robbery.

It is alleged that Ntsieni had killed Tshililo Ndou (9), Zwivhuya Mashau (8), Livhuwani Mmbodi (22) and Ms Brenda Ndovhe (45), an employee of the company contracted to do the cleaning services at the Univen campus.

He appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court last Thursday, but

the case was postponed due to the unavailability of his legal representative.

The bail application was postponed to 18 December.

Organizations which are active on gender issues, such as the Thohoyandou Victim Empowerment Programme (TVEP), Moral Regeneration Movement and the Far North Network on Family Violence, were among the groups chanting outside the court, demanding that Ntsieni not be granted bail.

Visitors to KNP to book in advance Officials at the Kruger National Park have warned day visitors of strict gate quotas that will be enforced during the coming holiday rush.

Day visitors are urged to book their entry in the park in advance in order to avoid disappointment.

Entrance at the gate generally works on a firstcome-first-served basis, but pre-booking is advised.

Although in operation throughout the year, the gate quotas are mostly reached during long weekends and public holidays. The gate quotes will be enforced at all the KNP’s entrance gates, namely Pafuri, Punda Maria, Phalaborwa, Giriyondo, Orpen, Paul Kruger, Phabeni, Numbi, Malelane and Crocodile Bridge.

Officials also remind visitors to the park that liquor is banned in the park, and that the rest of park rules shall be fully enforced as well.

Accolades for Vhembe crèche pioneer A well-known educator, Ms Mercy Helms of Phiphidi, received several accolades last weekend for her involvement in the teaching and upliftment of the community.

She started the first crèche in the area way back and it later became a full-fledged school.

Last weekend, the Jumbo Combined School, which started as a crèche 20 years ago, celebrated its successes.

In 1994, Helms relocated from Soweto to Venda as her husband was working there. She received a teaching job, but when she was supposed to send her children to

a crèche, she found that there was none. She then started Jumbo Crèche. The crèche has now grown into a combined school which provides for pupils up to Grade 9.

During the 20-year anniversary-cum-graduation ceremony, community members praised Helms for her dedication towards the youth of the area.

Mr Shadrack Tshivhase of the Unbuntu Self-help Educare Resource said Helms had treasured the spirit of voluntarism in the area. He mentioned that Helms had taught him many things, including the fact that one must

not put money first. He said she did not have a car for many years, but her teachers were being paid.

Helms was also praised by well-known Limpopo MK veteran Mr Dick Muditambi. He represented the parents and praised Helms for her community work.

He also asked the school management not to neglect sports as many of the pupils would have more options in life as sportsmen.

Ms Helms added that many of the children from the school were receiving bursaries as they received a good foundation at Jumbo Combined School.

Police drivers recovers body of man Moments of joy and celebrating summer while swimming ended in horror when a 26-year-old man, Khuliso Mudau from Tshakhuma, drowned at the Damview River on 7 December.

According to a report by the police, a group of young men went to swim to ease the heat since it was hot. One of the men men suddenly disappeared into the water.

Throughout the whole Sunday,

the police and community members searched with the hope that they would find Mudau's body.

“Eradicate poverty through education” The chief of Mauluma village in Nzhelelele, Chief Ramaano “Muthu-ha-thonwi” Ravele, launched a thanksgiving project through which he hopes to change the lives of his people for the better.

Chief Ravele believes that the social challenges of society, such as poverty, unemployment and illiteracy, can be eradicated if leaders learn more about these challenges in their communities.

During the launch of “Project Mpho” last Saturday, Chief Ravele said that society’s challenges were interrelated to crime.

pect of eradicating challenges because it ensures that people are no longer living in abject poverty. “We will endeavour to fight poverty and make sure that our people are employed through our projects and that children and elders can read and write,” he added. He said that if community members made it a habit in their society to be critical thinkers and researchers, it would uplift the community.

The project was launched simultaneously with the Nndwayamiomva community crèche’s graduation ceremony. The young ones were given gifts, including books and mugs. Some of the young ones were dressed in traditional attire during the ceremony to signify the importance of cultural values.

Several people from the village donated items such as clothes, shoes and other gifts that will be given to local indigent people.

On the 21st of this month, needy people will gather at the village’s kraal and receive their gifts.

The chairperson of the Ravele royal family, Doctor Elias Ravele, said the initiative was meant to raise children who would understand the need to help those who were suffering. He said if children of today understood the importance of tradition and culture, it would be easier to instil those values into the next generation. “This would instil a sense of ownership among the residents. They will feel that this community is theirs and ensure that it is free from social ills,” he added.

“Help, my money turned into newspaper cuttings” A resident of Manavhela village in the Kutama area, Ms Sesi Lethulachipi, was left shocked and stranded in the bustling Songozwi Street after scam artists stole R2 970 from her about two weeks ago.

Limpopo Mirror arrived shortly after the robbers had driven off, and found a worried Lethulachipi surrounded by bemused spectators.

“I made a cash withdrawal at a Capitec ATM and stacked all my cash inside my bra and started walking towards the Makhado Municipality offices,” she told the curious people, who also wanted to hear what had actually happened. “When I was walking past the Post Office, a smiling man touched me on the hand and walked past. Soon after I saw another man who mentioned loudly that there were people who were smearing muti on people, so that their money could disappear from their purses or pockets.”

Lethulachipi felt a hot sensation on her arm and, when she looked, she saw a shiny brown substance. It terrified her so much that when the man approached, showed her his police card and told her to get inside his parked car for safety reasons, she agreed. There were two other men in the car.

“They said they wanted to chase the criminals who had smeared muti on my arm,” she explained.

“When it became obvious that the tsotsis were nowhere to be found, I asked to get off near Dunn’s clothing store.”

The moment she stepped out of the car and closed the door, she noticed that her money was missing from her breast. She searched for it inside her brown

purse and found a brown envelope.

When she saw newspaper cuttings inside the envelope, she shouted and cursed and cast the useless envelope against the rubbish bin.

The thieves were gone.

“A woman had advised me to pick up the envelope. She said the tsotsis who had turned my money into newspaper pieces would not be able to use that money if I kept the envelope,” she said.

However, the thieves had robbed her of all her money. She wanted to buy some corrugated roofing sheets and bags of cement, so that her children could have a stable shelter.

Makhado police’s spokesperson, Const Irene Radzilane, said that they had in their records no case which was reported by Lethulachipi.

However, she acknowledged that the police station had instances where unsuspecting people were alleged to have been smeared with a substance supposed to be muti.

“This is only a scam,” she said. “No police officer will request for your cash, cellphone or ATM cards for any comparison on the street. The public is urged to report any incident of this nature to the police. You can even scream for help when approached by these people,” she said.

Solly Noor to lead WMO Well-known Louis Trichardt businessman Mr Solly Noor was elected as president of the World Memon Organisation (WMO) during the WMO’s annual general meeting held at the Sandton Convention Centre a few weeks ago.

The WMO is an international umbrella organisation formed more than a decade ago to unite Memon organisations, institutions, corporate bodies, associations and individuals.

The organisation works towards the upliftment, welfare and well-being of the people in the communities where they are active.

The organisation has seven regional chapters across the globe, which include chapters in Africa, India, the Far East, Europe, the Middle East and North America.

According to Mr Noor, their main aim is to look after the poorest and most disadvantaged people. Worldwide, the WMO has taken care of over 23 000 students and 9 000 widows and

widowers. “The WMO is involved in several housing projects for the poor and also tries to assist in medical needs such as dialysis treatment,” he explained.

One of the projects under the WMO’s auspice is the Memon Industrial & Technical Institute (MITI).

“The MITI managed to equip over 14 000 tradesmen the past year on the sub-continent with the necessary skills to enter the workplace,” said Mr Noor. To date, the MITI has helped train 56 000 people.

Solly Noor is one of the founding trustees of the WMO and he has served as chairman of the Board of Trustees for the past eight years.

His efforts were recognised this year when he received a special award from the WMO. He also serves on several other boards, such as the Council of the University of the Witwatersrand.

He also serves on the Board of the University of Venda.

A member of parliament, Mr Moses Tseli, officially opened the Masana Lodge and Resort at Maname on Friday.

The lodge and resort is situated in Nzhelele Maname next to Tshikuwi, approximately 500 metres from the N1-Wyliespoort T-Junction to Nzhelele. Tseli said that he is proud of this new exciting hospitality development, and he believes that the products will fill the distribution gap which has existed between Mphephu Resort and The Elias Resort for a long time. “The product will contribute immensely towards growth potential for domestic tourism in the area in particular, and the province in general, while assisting tour operators in packaging this iconic river (Tshikuwi).”

“Scourge of abuse on the increase” The Munna Ndi Nnyi Men’s Forum, in partnership with stakeholders such as the Vuwani SAPS, the Lwamondo traditional authority and Legal Aid SA, which are championing non-violence against women and children, took another approach this year.

They decided to identify the root causes of the evil acts against women and children.

An event, which was attended by many organizations and stakeholders, took place at Munna Ndi Nnyi’s new of-

fice buildings a fortnight ago.

The coordinator, Mr Bardwell Mufunwaini, said they had had many campaigns all over the country, but the scourge of abuse seemed to be on the increase. “We cannot be spectators while our women folk and children are being maimed, attacked and facing different forms of abuse. We have to dig deep and identify the root causes, and we invited these people so that they could speak out themselves. Hopefully, we will come up with resolutions

that could ease the scourge and we hope that, this time around, we can do away with it once and for all,” he said.

He added that all stakeholders had taken an oath to help fight the scourge. W/O Elijah Malatjie of the Vuwani SAPS said that their policing area had managed to bring the scourge under control through personal interaction “with people on the ground.

Mpheni Home Defenders pave their way up to the Safa ABC league by beating Madombidzha Arsenal 3-1 in an MMK Admistrator League match at Mpheni on Saturday.

The first half was characterized by wasted scoring opportunities and no goal was scored in the first half. The absence of Balangani Mafela in Arsenal’s starting line-up was evident from the onset.

Defenders were the first to blow the trumpet. Aaron Lisoga forced his way through the defence of Arsenal and blasted in a close-range rocket. Referee Shakes Netshiavha flashed his first yellow card in the 54th minute. Londy Musiamo of Arsenal tackled Ndaedzo from behind and the referee was lenient enough not to give him his marching orders.

Arsenal solitary goal came in the 64th minute. Dakalo Nwanamidwa tried his luck from outside the box with a left-foot ground cutter. As if he were a spectator, the keeper of Defenders watched as the ball hit the back of the net.

The only change which Defenders

made to their starting line up-was when they introduced Molatelo Seakamela for Aaron Lisoga. Ndaedzo Mareda scored the second goal for Defenders in the 69th minute.

His long-range volley hit the crossbar and bounced across the goal line. Arsenal

lost hope after the goal.

That gave Defenders a good chance to score their third goal. An overlapping midfielder-cum-striker of Defenders, Melvin Mabatha, hooked the ball in after a scramble within the box and scored easily.

Money for tournament’s achievers

The opening matches of the annual Taki’s Games Tournament will be played this weekend.

According to one of the organizers, Mr Takalani Rabali, 32 teams from the Nzhelele valley affiliated to the Makhado LFA and the MMK Administrators League will take part in the tournament.

The opening matches will be played at the teams’ open grounds, while the remaining matches will be staged at the Rabali Stadium from 26 to 28 December. The semifinal and final will be played on Saturday, 3 January.

The affiliation fee for participation in the tournament is R300 per team. The winners will receive R8 000, a soccer kit, gold medals and a floating trophy. The runners-up will receive R4 000, soccer kit and silver medals.

The teams booted out in the semifinals will each take home R2 000 and a soccer kit, while teams losing in the quarterfinals will each receive R1 000 and a soccer kit. Altech Autopage, Day Toner Group and Rabali Transport will sponsor the tournament.

According to Rabali, the children from the Rabali Resource Centre will benefit from the income that will be raised during the tournament.

Fabulous prizes are awaiting the achievers during the Sinthumule/ Kutama Community Sport Development Soccer Challenge that will take place from Christmas Day to New Year’s Day. The first matches of the tournament will be staged at the Muraleni, Muduluni and Ravele grounds and the final will be played at the Ravele grounds.

According to the media liaison officer of the organisers, Mr Elvis Phathela, the winners will receive R10 000, a floating trophy, soccer kit and gold medals.

The second-placed team will receive R6 000, new soccer kit and silver medals, while the team in third place will get R3 000, bronze medals and a new soccer kit. The fourthplaced teams will receive R2 000 and a soccer kit and the four teams that defeated in the quarterfinals will get R800 each. The four teams beaten in the second-round matches will

TNN too strong for Cobras Tshakhuma Na Ndilani collected maximum points at the expense of Cobra Stars in their MMK Administrators League match at the Levubu Rugby Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors from Tshisaulu committed suicide by setting offside traps, but they could not pull it off.

They were severely punished for that. Takalani Mulaudzi went loose from the middle of the park and beat the keeper with a half volley five minutes into the game. The defenders of Cobra Stars just watched as Mulaudzi scored an easy goal.

Cobra Stars were the first to effect change to their starting line-up.

They introduced Enos Madzhuta for Phathutshedzo Mulaudzi in the 18th minute.

was also reprimanded with a card for dangerous play in the 29th minute.

Takalani Mulaudzi completed his brace in the 34th minute. He again beat the offside trap and sent the keeper the wrong way. The players and officials of Stars were not happy with the referee’s decision to remain silent when Mulaudzi scored. They argued that Mulaudzi had scored the goal from an offside position. The situation was calmed when the keeper of Stars, Nnditsheni Sigaba, was booked for a prolonged argument with the referee.

The score was 2-0 at half time.

Sedzazwau Mushoma scored the third for TNN in the 76th minute.

He finished off a square pass from Rofhiwa Netshiungani.

Tshifhudi to host Legacy Games The 20 years of Democracy Soccer Legacy Tournament will take place at the Tshifudi grounds from 24 to 27 December.

“Many people regard disabled people, especially blind people, as people who cannot achieve anything on their own because we cannot see. This is not true. To be living with a disability does not mean one is not able to do good things in life.”

He also revealed that it is only a matter of time for their second album to be released and he is hopeful that it will hit the market just before Christmas. It will have 10 songs and the title track is called Baratemeo morwa wa temeo.

We have also presented a similar gift to Alexandra Primary School,” said Mathabi. During the presentation of the gift, pupils also received educational toys. Foundation to host talent search matches The Thabo Mongalo Sports Foundation will host the Makhado Talent Search Soccer Tournament during the festive season holidays. It is expected that 32 teams will participate.

The foundation and tournament are the brainchild of a former PSL player, Thabo Mongalo, who had previously played for SuperSport United, Platinum Stars and Black Leopards.
