Jailbirds need help!
This year’s “jailbirds” participating in the SPCA Louis Trichardt’s annual Jailed & Bailed fundraiser, are definitely going the extra mile to raise some much-needed cash for this voluntary organisation. Husband-and-wife team Kevin en Roeline Alberts paid a brief visit to the offices of the Zoutpansberger on Wednesday morning, locked up in the back of a bakkie, as part of their effort to convince people to contribute to the “bail” to get them released. The fundraiser was launched on 1 February and will continued until 13 February. Apart from Kevin and Roeline, there are 11 other “jailbirds” and residents are urged to support them. If they can collect their bail of R5 000, they will be able to be “home” in time for Valentine’s Day. Local SPCA spokesperson Alicia Thomas said that they are truly overwhelmed by the support the fundraiser is getting and the efforts of the jailbirds to collect funds.
