1. Annual Report “A donor opened [it up] and thought it was so beautiful that it should be framed. - Kristin Hatch, Grants Manager, HPP

January 2012, 2013

Client: The Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP) is an award-winning San Francisco Family Resource Center. For more than 23 years, HPP has provided poor and homeless families the ability to end childhood poverty. Built on a foundation of supportive, non judgmental case management, HPP empowers families, particularly mothers motivated by pregnancy and parenthood, to recognize their strengths and trust in their own capacity to transform their lives. Project: Created a 20-page annual report layout. The development team was looking for an layout that was engaging, colorful and dynamic, while communicating clean lines and a level of sophistication that exhibited their constantly evolving organization. More importantly, they wanted recipients to feel a meaningful connection to the content. HPP was so pleased with the final document and the response that they contracted me to design their 2013 annual report, requesting I use the 2011 report as a template. Though, I always feel things can be improved upon. HPP found the latest to be a definite improvement. INDESIGN

2. Booklet “I love it. If it went out exactly as it looks in the first draft without any edits, I would be over-the-moon ecstatic. Any possible edits you could make would just be icing on the cake. - Marianna, Client

6. Brand & Dev Materials “Looks beautiful! I’m thrilled.” “Your contributions are invaluable.” - Tiffany Claflin, Founder of OMP

March 2012 to Current

Client: Our Mural Project (OMP) is a nonprofit that provides students in the Bay Area with the opportunity to explore their artistic talents while working together in a safe and supportive environment. They empower students to confidently express their ideas, successfully collaborate with one another, and build a strong sense of community through the shared purpose of painting a mural. Project: Consulted on business model, development materials and ultimately the organization’s brand identity. While OMP’s founder, Tiffany, is a highly qualified educator and incredible painter, she admitted that she lacked business savvy. She was happy to rely on my seven years of development experience and design expertise. After many discovery meetings, we created a plan to help her realize her organization’s vision. Initially, I created an one page informational brochure (not shown) and business cards (above). Business Card: ILLUSTRATOR

Project (continued): As OMP obtained mural projects, I was contracted to develop and design funding proposals, photograph the founder for inclusion in materials as well as photograph a number of murals in-progress and final. We continue to collaborate on mural designs and I have been contracted to develop OMP’s website. The design was developed to attract funders and school faculty alike, conveying the playfulness and brightness of the founder’s enthusiasm while maintaining her professionalism.

13. Event Logo

Senior Graphic Designer (in-house, Business Dept)

Client: ITVS in partnership with The United States Institute of Peace (USIP). USIP is the independent, nonpartisan conflict management center created by Congress to prevent and mitigate international conflict without resorting to violence. USIP works to save lives, increase the government’s ability to deal with conflicts before they escalate, reduce government costs, and enhance our national security. The summit considered specific recommendations on ways to harness the power of media for conflict prevention. Senior media makers, policymakers and powerful change agents who are key to the development of new ideas with the potential to reduce future conflict, were convened. Project: Created an event logo to brand all print and interactive collateral, such as welcome poster, table tents, labels, web banner, etc. While most of the team was pleased with the initial design, several team members felt it didn’t convey necessary level of seriousness, also the team was concerned about the message the use of red and ALL CAPs would send. The final design and color palette was thought to be a elegant solution to those issues.

The design and color scheme were inspired by one of Lucy’s favorite movies (as explained by Alexander) coupled with the shower’s loose theme: Lucy’s love of all things French.
