Mudiwa Hood made a very huge impact during the Covid 19 season by providing food and basic needs to the poor. During this period, its beyond doubt that most people were living on the edge, desperate and begging for the next meal. All thanks go to young people who took this and made it a mandate to save humanity.

During a small talk with Mudiwa Hood at one time, I recall being moved to tears. His love for God made me realize his secret. He told me that all he is and all he will ever be is as a result of who he chose to worship. This made it absolutely clear that we are living in a world where a lot of young people have abandoned the tradition of worshipping. We have redefined coolness and have deliberately confused it with atheism. Those who stick with Jehovah will shine and be the light of the world.

Mudiwa beyond any reasonable doubt is cultivating a generation that is eager to worship, give back to humanity and still enjoy the youthful days. Thumbs up!!!

On birthdays, most people want to spend their time with their loved ones, dining and extravagantly seeking happiness. Therefore, this came as a shock when Zuva did the unexpected.

Amanda Zuva Habane is a South Africa based Zimbabwean socialite and businesswoman who was recently nominated as the Business woman of the year for the African Women of Essence Awards 2019. Zuva grew up in Gweru where in 2003 she was crowned Miss Gweru. In 2019 she revealed her abusive past, which she indicated as her inspiration to help other women who might be facing similar situations. Well done Zuva.

ell Christine, I appriciate the opportunity, well I’m Clemence Noelle Chikerema and I am a man aged 25. I stay in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe. For me, life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer. I was never an athlete nor very active or health conscious as a teen but maintained a somewhat average bodyweight. I had no concept of healthy eating and put no thought into the longterm consequences. Throughout my teenage hood I gradually gained weight as a result of poor diet and lack of exercise.

In 2018 the fitting room was not my favorite place and triggered a lot of emotions. When you are not happy with your body it is not enjoyable to try on clothes, especially surrounded by mirrors and bright lights. I was in the fitting room with several pairs of shorts to try. They did not fit because I was too skinny. Looking in the mirror, I broke down in tears. I did not even recognize the person I was looking at. I asked myself, “how did I let this happen?”.

Something clicked that day. I wanted and needed to feel better. From that moment on, my life began. I told myself I have to want it. I need to be accountable. No excuses. My health is priority. For whatever your motivation is…results are achieved through dedication and consistency. I did it. I made a decision that I was ready to change my lifestyle. There is no magic pill. No quick fix. No diet.

It’s a healthy, realistic lifestyle of clean eating and regular exercise that fits into my schedule and environment I changed my food choices, paid attention to portion sizes and food labels, and cut down on calories. I was consistent on calorie intake and daily exercise. My body went through another transformation and I felt even better. I could see first-hand in the gym that so many others shared struggles with exercise and nutrition. Now, I finally found my passion. I studied, I practiced, I trained.

Personally, overcoming the challenges of such a lifestyle CLEMENCE CHIKEREMA N change, I made it my goal to educate, inspire, and motivate people to live healthier lives.

ell, your body is goals for many young men out there. What really inspired you to get into fitness programs?

As a small boy I was small and used to get bullied which resulted in me having low self-esteem, so I decided to channel that negativity into building my body instead of letting it derail my progress in all aspects of my life, because really low self-esteem is detrimental.

iscipline is a ‘must’ when it comes to working out and maintaining the results, how do you manage to achieve this every day?

I managed to achieve this every day because I always tell myself, I have to do something that brings me closer to my goal. With dedication and commitment nothing will not stop you from reaching your goals in life, be it fitness or any other aspect in life. Whenever I feel like quitting, I

always think of my life, my situations and I always gain the strength to become a better person. Seeing motivational videos of bodybuilders also helps me to pull through and to push forward my goals.

lemence, coming from a ghetto and possessing such amazing skills, what are your future ambitions?

Coming from ghetto is one of the difficult things in life with this lifestyle because there is lack of exposure and the gyms are not fully equipped with many facilities. But with dedication, commitment and determination, I always tell myself to be strong and to be patient and always work extra hard because sweet comes from sweat. My goal is to create a healthy lifestyle for people and help them to gain confidence with their bodies.

s a role model to many young people, how do you deal with criticism and what’s your advice to many aspiring to be like you?

At some point in life there is criticism and sometimes it will be difficult to accept but that all depends on someone’s reaction. But then I say, remember, it’s not just you, understand that in most cases it’s not about you because people are busy managing competing priorities. Always plan in process time, taking things personally is a fear response that happens when you perceive situations as threatening to your ego and identity.

I used to watch these YouTube seeing how some photographers out there enjoy their work and that triggered my love for photography, I told myself if they can do it, I can also do it.

All I can say is never stop learning your craft and never feel comfort with what you have or what you know.

anabasi Marambire is a Zimbabwean entrepreneur who emerged from a very poor background and grew up as a neglected orphan. He penetrated the brutal pains and thorns of life to make his own history. He is the founder of Barmlo Group of Companies whose umbrella includes; (1). Barmlo Investments (PVT) Ltd which specializes in Building Materials supply and Brick Moulding; (2). Barmlo Construction (PVT) Ltd whose focus is on the erection of buildings, plumbing, electrification, tilling, carpentry and painting. Barmlo Construction also offers commercial transport.

(3). Maineck Holdings (PVT) Ltd., which is grounded on Maize Milling and Food processing and Solar Energy supply. Marambire is a co-owner of Great Dyke AB Academy which is a private school.

nomic conditions, he sadly failed to further his studies due to lack of funds. With no choice, he had to get his first job as a farm worker at the age of 19 years so he could survive. His duties were mainly to look after cattle as a Herd boy in Botswana. At the age of 22, in his attempt to escape poverty and pursue his lifetime dream of owning a company-he moved from being a farm worker and resorted to working in a construction company where he was employed as a general labourer. He persevered the pains of this strenuous job and never lost faith.

At the age of 25 years-God answered his lifetime prayer, he became victorious by registering his first company which was specialising in construction, brick moulding and building materials supply. This breakthrough planted a smile on his face although he later became a victim of human jealousy and got compelled to sell his company with a swollen heart.

Barmlo Group of Companies has various projects across the country of Zimbabwe and has expanded in leaps and bounds into Botswana and Zambia.

It has employed more than 500 people across all its companies. Barmlo construction has been recognised at different platforms in Africa through its participation in Jack Ma foundation under Africa Netpreneur Initiative Price and qualified to semi-finals. The company has been nominated at various spheres and won a first prize under 2016 Global Shapers Initiative under the construction category.

Banabasi Marambire has a passion to encourage and emancipate other entrepreneurs through his life experience in achieving a sustainable business through hard work, passion and perseverance.

Growing up as orphan, he is also participating in assisting the under privileged children especially in schools by paying their tuition fees. He is also passionate about creating employment particularly for people living in the rural poor areas. He has the zeal in developing especially the marginalized communities and fighting poverty through philanthropic initiatives. Banabasi Marambire found it essential to share his transformative story of life with the conviction that this story will encourage and motivate those whose life spiral has been rough and traumatic. Above all, Banabasi’s story to the world is-be a fighter and that with God all things are possible.

r Marambire, in a nutshell, how do you describe yourself?

I am married man with three kids (boys). I am a person who believes in God through Jesus. I am an entrepreneur who rose from nothing. I started my company at the age of 25 years.

I very passionate in giving to the under privilege and helping other upcoming business people to achieve their goals.

Mr Marambire beyond any reasonable doubt, you a true definition of excellency and distinction, what’s your secret?

Hardworking, dedication, persistence and determination is how I approach most life issues. When I put my mind on something I don’t give up until I achieve my goals.

As a role model to many young people out there, can you please share how you have managed to become this phenomenal?

Believing in myself, after I lost my parents, I spent the first few months crying whenever I will face a life challenge, I would cry waiting for public sympathy, I later realised that my answers were not in public sympathy but it was in my hands.

I learned to lean and depend on myself. So I would say most of the energy I had to build it from within and depend on myself since I had no one to come to my rescue.

Your book, The Herdboy has made so many waves across the Zimbabwean community. Do you regret going through what you have encounter in life?

Yes, I really went through so much suffering to a point where I got sick and diagnosed a disease called Kwashiorkor at the age of 13 years, Kwashiorkor is a disease that is caused by malnutrition and very

common in infants, but I went through poverty that made me to suffer such a disease at the age of 12 years. I went through some events of which even now when I think of it to this day I drop tears. Treated very poor, regarded as nothing by people, called names and subjected to all sorts brutality and hunger. No any person shall ever go through such events ever in life. I am sorry this answer has become long because I literally become very emotional as I was answering this question to an extend of dropping tears. For the past years I never get an opportunity to tell my story and I now realise that I have a lot of issues that I have never dealt with in my life. I just buried my past and tried very hard to move on because I believe I am strong. Now I am well established and every day I fight poverty. This is the reason that I choose to give without hesitating.

Yes, I can’t change my past but the road I walked should never be walked again. Yes, in the process of such a brutally journey I learned of life skills but it’s unfortunate that I learned it the hard way.

The reason for me to accumulate wealthy is not for self-gain but to reach out to the under privileged.

Yes after I got married, my motivation comes from my family. When I look at my wife and kids, I feel so motivated that I have to work so hard and provide for my family Many people have limited themselves basing on the poor background they come from. What is your advice to many young people who desire to create a successful life regardless of their background?

What happens when someone is from poor background, people call them names, belittle them and tell them that they are nothing, due to such an environment people end up believe such a theory and do nothing to change their lives. What I can say, is don’t allow people to determine your future, never allow your past to define your future.

If you had the chance to turn the hands of time, what would you give to your 20-year-old self?

So far, I would say I have run a good race and there is nothing that I would like to change because I began working at the age of 19. What I can give to the 20 years me, uuuum I will give myself money to pursue a degree. I had good results at my form four certificate such that I could have went to college also like any other young man but instead I was employed as a herdboy. So yeah I would give the young Banabasi money to further his studies. Now at this age that’s when I am enrolling for MBA. Because even though I am well established, I still feel a gap academically and I feel the need to learn.

My name is Wellence Matthew Mujuru, a guy whose born 26 years ago. I am very good communicator; I find it easy to relate with other people and I’m very approachable person. I really enjoy learning new things and constantly seeking out new learning opportunities. I’m not afraid of failing or speaking out, in fact I think it is an essential part of the experimental process that gets you to success.

Well, let me just start by this compliment, Wellence you have a very good social media personality. Was it something you ever planned or it was fate?

Well having a good following on

social media was not something I actually planned, im one individual since turning 18 years of age I developed a personality of standing with my own truth I think that has resonated with a lot of people. Each time that I posted my opinions about any topic I saw my social media accounts growing so I continued being vocal in my beliefs. Those who know me personally will definitely tell you what you see on social media is what you get in person with me although I can be reserved at times to get my mental focus.

As a role model to many young people, which five habits would you say are a plus to your life’s journey?

1. Always put God first 2.Be kind to everybody even your worst enemy 3.Read a lot if possible, read everything for me personally there is nothing I hate like not knowing 4.Make your own bed, a wise man once said, “if you make your own bed you will have accomplishes the first task of the day.

5.Be a goal getter in life no matter how small or big the goal Which brands in Zimbabwe are you or have you worked hand in hand with?

I’ve worked with a lot of brands, but the brand that I’ve worked hand in hand with is Jan Jam and Jordan Paint to grow my knowledge in online marketing which have taught me a lot in business and personal brand to some extent a lot of people identify my name as a brand online. But I look forward to working with other brands in Zimbabwe and even internationally in growing my knowledge.

eing on a spot light can be overwhelming and trying to meet people’s expectations is hectic. How do you deal with anxiety and do you believe that a lot of young people are suffering from this?

Sometimes I’m very mindful of the tone that I share or I comment on staying positive and it encourages others to interact with you in a more positive way. I sometimes balance my time that I spent on social media I always make sure I have family time for such ordinary things like having lunch, dinner etc. I always make a plan to meet up with friends or people with similar interests, habits or hobbies to me, and I always keep in mind that everything online its not always 100% accurate, some people only share the positive while others only share the negative. I must admit, I do suffer from FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) although FOMO has always been there before social media I do try to keep it together for the sake of my mental state.

And, Yes! I believe a lot of young people are suffering from social media anxiety you see a lot of young people living fake life and some end up getting into trouble or being involved in criminal activities just to maintain a fake lifestyle.

Most people might probably not know that you have a career in Social Work. Can you tell us more about this initiative and what inspired you to start giving back to the society in humanitarian works?

Oh Yes! I did study social work and I do love giving a helping hand, one thing that always motivates me to give back to the community is knowing that whatever I have whether little or big there is an individual out there who has nothing since having a platform on social media I have used it to motivate others or to partner with different people to help others. I definitely wish I could do more but I just do the little I can.

Do you think there is enough representation of young people’s Charity Organizations?

(Supporting Youth in Business and School).

I think we do have young people’s charity organisations but my thought on this issue is they are underfunded there should be a huge discussion around youth-oriented organisations they always say young people are the future there is no much investment towards young people’s future I believe more can be done.

l am a full-time 5th year medical student currently studying at Gannan Medical University in China. I am also an Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and Businesswoman. In addition, I not only do Modeling but I am also a brand ambassador. I own several businesses including MJ Fashions (a clothing line) and MJ Bridals. What really inspired you to venture into Fashion in the first place?

It all started as a hobby, l have always loved to look good since my childhood. I am that kind of person who can get dressed up just to attend university lectures. I strongly believe that fashion has a great impact on how one relates to people, and the kind of people that come into one’s life. l am more of a classy person, every time l dress up l feel powerful, in charge and it’s like a driving force to win in life. Besides, l always receive compliments from friends, classmates, strangers about how l dress. Some people even asked me for advice about what to wear; on different occasions, others were also asking me about where l buy my clothes, and whether or not l sell clothes. That’s when l decided to venture into fashion. # Beyond any doubt you are a true definition of excellency and distinction, what’s your secret?

My secret is that l dream big; I write down the things that l want to achieve over a specific period, l state the ways in which l will execute them and then l pray and work damn hard to achieve each and every goal.

My background, my dreams and fear of failure and poverty push me to work hard in order to attain them.

Sometimes they wake me up at night, l can’t find sleep till l find ways or solutions to transform my dreams into reality. I make a lot sacrifices in my life; sometimes l have to sacrifice my social life, my sleeping time, certain people or relationships, even at times my

school, in order to achieve my goals. In addition, the fact that l want to be a person of influence, an inspiration, a role model to the younger generation. # Where do you derive your motivation when you begin to feel like quitting?

My background, is the source of my motivation to succeed. l was born in the rural areas, in Gutu, Masvingo, where l spent the first years of my childhood. I even attended the first years of my Primary education in the rural areas then l later moved to Mbare, where l spent the my teenagerhood and studied there at Harare High School. Life was not easy; a lot of factors were in play to make sure that I won’t make it. As someone who grew up in Mbare, l always wanted to be different, to not only make an impact in my community but also to inspire and teach the young people in Mbare that Mbare is just a place, it doesn’t determine your entire life’s narrative. Most people believe that nothing good comes out of Mbare. I took it… # As a phenomenal young lady and a role model to many young people out there, what is your advice to young people who look up to you?

My advice to the young people is: Life is like an exam, you have to prepare, plan, work hard in order to succeed.

Most importantly, be patient and never give up; good things take time. One of the things that have a huge impact on the young is peer pressure; don’t give in to peer pressure. Shut your eyes and ears to unnecessary pressures (peer pressure, life pressure, family, etc) competition, and too much fun. Have life goals, and Instead of letting peer pressure drive you, let your life goals and plans motivate you. Don’t compete with anyone; learn to celebrate other people’s successes, learn from those who have made it in life, get Life mentors and be particular about the friends or company that you keep, because the people you hang around with determine how far you will get in life. Read success oriented books. Follow and listen to successful people who have made it in life. Always remember that there is a thin line between enjoying your youth and destroying your future. Aim higher and ALWAYS PUT GOD FIRST!

My only secret is to capture and communicate what I’m feeling, as much (if not more) than what I see at the time of releasing the shutter. If my photographs speak to the viewer & tell a story, then I have succeeded in my work. I also believe that a passion for the subject is an essential pre-requisite for a successful photograph. # As a role model to many young people, can you please share on how you have managed to become this phenomenal figure that catches the attention of many people?

I try to learn from people who inspire me, and I admire. These people reflect certain qualities you want to have for yourself too, and the more I learn & surround myself with them, I find myself changing, adopting new good habits, and growing. People are the most important asset you can have in life, I learnt that connecting with people is important for me if I’m to grow.

# Mr. Gidds, I have seen your photography work is breath taking, what really inspired you to venture into this industry?

I have always had an eye for the arts, and always admired and would watch the works of some great Photographers. Growing up I would do sketch drawings every chance I get, and I would often get into trouble for doing it in class at the wrong time. I then joined my local church’s media department, learnt camera work, and later on got into photography. I love photography, it is part of me. What may look normal to the naked eye, is a canvas for my painting (in other words pictures). # Where do you derive your motivation when you begin to feel like quitting?

My passion drives me and allows me to keep pushing my limits and see how creative I can be to make my work outstanding. The thought of quitting when I fail, and I’m exhausted is always overshadowed by the thought that I can achieve a better

# As a young good-looking man, how do you deal with the temptations that comes with photographing women?

Temptations are real, but I try to focus much on creating images, that way I’m too occupied to entertain other thoughts, and leave room for anything else, and when I’m working in secluded places, I make sure there’s a third person. It’s part of the work, you get used to some of the things, and learn to avoid them to make your work easier, and much more enjoyable. # Mr. Gidds, you seem like a very ambitious young man, inwardly driven.

Who do you aspire to become?

I just want to make art, that’ll inspire people, and as well add value to a business, not only in Zimbabwe, but Africa, and beyond. I aspire to change someone’s life through what I do, and aspire to positively affect the way others do business through my work. # If you could turn back the hands of time, what would you do differently.

I don’t have any regrets, and I don’t think I’d want to change anything if I had to go back in time. I learnt from my past, and I still learning from it, and I got to make some good decisions. As the Bible says in Romans 8:28, that “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose”, that means good, and bad including that which happened in the past.

That realization coupled by my passion, drive, ad industry experience (StarFM and Urban Afrika Media) and connections led me onto the path am on today, where I now get to live my dream through transforming architectural interiors in truly amazing spaces.

eyond any doubt you are a true definition of excellence and distinction, what’s your secret?

Ha ha ha, it’s actually not that complex. As a huge apple fan from its early days, I had always been a follower of Steve Jobs and there is a quote by him that says, “You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers.

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.

And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

This has been the guiding principle behind the formation of PaMo Homelux and still is our driving force to this very day, that the only way we can do great work, for my clients and myself is by doing what I love and that’s transforming homes.

xtending a vision of a ‘classy home’ _is one thing you have done perfectly. What’s your own definition of a classy home??

My Oh, My! That’s a tough one, I could write a book about the definitions I have of what a classy home is, but in a nutshell a classy home to me is one that most expresses the owner’s character in an elegant, stylish and smart way.

derive my motivation from different sources depending on a particular situation. Normally, I am influenced by the things that surround me, societal settings but not everything. For example, the event that affects me in the strongest manner becomes an inspiration for me. Even my friends Craig Twist, Takudzwa Chihambakwe, Carl Magwaza, Wesley Shasha, Plot Mhako and Donald Mapungu inspires me. I feel like I want to be them in a different world. There were there before and after The Boss. I can also say my mother is more of my role model. She was the first person to cloth me fashionably and her courage, determination inspires me for the better. She is a hard-worker.

I talk to close friends if I am down or whenever I feel like quitting and they pushes me further. Back then I was a loner if I get depression or stress I would pray and just that now I am happy I have friends who are always giving me an ear and this has made me to be strong.

I am a cool, smart and cheerful guy who is not yet married. I am a fashion lover.

I love reading motivational books and lifestyle content. I can say I am a go-getter and guided my integrity principlesdoing the right thing at the right time.

I am not perfect and I don’t want to be because I will leave no room for improvement on whatever I will be doing or focusing on. My birthday is in December and it has always been a special month for me as mostly all my contracts and projects sometimes they kick off in that month. What makes me unique and amazing is my fashion sense and taste. I am a suit person but before I never liked suits. Like J. O’Rourke said, “Never wear anything that panics the cat.” I make my moves with fashion and happy now more men are embracing the culture.

Well, Tafadzwa you have such a phenomenal sense of fashion. What really inspired you to get into the fashion industry?

My love for fashion was acquired at some point in my adult life. In high school, getting me to wear a suit was not an easy thing to achieve. Even at church, my mother would force me to wear one but I looked awkward. So, when I went for a job interview with my friends, we wore navy blue suits and I had bald hair.

Then at that time I was young with a (boyish) stature and the secretary at the company who had called me said are you a model and I said no. We laughed it loud, then my friend Tinashe asked why did you said that. She said he looks good in a suit. Years later I started writing about fashion, blogging and boom the magic happened. I then started hanging around with fashionistas, fashion icons, designers and stylist resulting me in becoming one.

Which brands in Zimbabwe are you working hand in hand with?

I am a brand ambassador for 4 May In-

ternational men’s store. I sealed the deal last year and it has been an amazing and wonderful journey. I have learnt a lot and they also gave me personal stylists Tino and Charleen. The team has been amazing. It is not easy to dress up for an occasion but they made it simple. I have also worked with Cynthia Bizure of JanJam for close to five years. In fact, that is where I started. I am also brand ambassador for Carling Meats, ExoticScent Fragrances, and Urban Men. It’s beyond any doubt that you’re an inspiration and a role model to many young people. Can you please share your secrets to being this amazing and unique individual?

Yes, I am a role model to many. Not even a week can pass by without DM- direct messages in my social media accounts asking me where I got that suit, some asking for suggestions or wanting to be styled. My first response is just be calm, comfortable and have the courage to wear what you want to wear. With fashion it is about what is trending and stylish but by having the courage you can be a trendsetter yourself. I am a cheerful person and because of my brand The Boss some people think I am sophisticated, untouchable, a serious person which is a complete opposite. My door is always open and I just do what normal people do. It is just the suit that scares you away. I am still the boy next door, the one from the ghetto, the one who wore a t-shirt in grade three with inscription: When I grow up, I want to famous, be on television and magazine.

Now I am there (laughs).

As a role model to many young people, how do you deal with criticism and what’s your advice to many aspiring to be like you?

Criticism has always been there. I used to hate myself, get stressed but now I understand why criticism is important in social life. First you need to understand that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. If you say this colour is green while it is red, good for you. I respect that as long as you justify yourself. Again what made me grow strong is the angle where the criticism is coming from and you need to value that. There are some

people who just comment for the sake of commenting that should not move you because they may be below or above your level trying to pull you down. My advice is ask yourself why did they do or say that. If you justified then no tears.

Your role in the Fashion TV hosted by DSTV is really mind blowing. Can you tell us more about this initiative?

It is true I am working on a new fashion television project with my co-host Lillian Madyara (Hollywood Lee). The show will premiere in months’ time. I can’t share much detail but it will also include some of the renowned eligible fashion icons as correspondents. We tried having one show in 2016 but something later came up and we halted. We even shot a pilot and flew to South Africa for some thorough education on fashion and television for a week. Of late in the country there hasn’t been much shows on fashion television. I know there are a couple of productions but it comes with our mindset, supporting them and at the same time appreciating their talent.

Zimbabwean people now love fashion, you can tell by the red carpets events and it will be like our Met Gala, but after that it is done. We should have our own fashion board, fashion council among others. Just like sport, if fashion is taken seriously it can sustain livelihoods and can help boost our tourism sector.

Tafadzwa, since you’re also into mentorship can you please share on how one can develop a standing and influential brand?

Like they say if you want to have a successful brand first you need to think like an entrepreneur. You need to check on opportunity recognition. You need to know that entrepreneurs see and often seek out opportunities. Remember we are all not the same, so what makes you tick can put you on top with the positive mind. Stick to your principles by having a vision for the brand identity.

This comes first before the entrepreneur mindset. I won’t dwell on the marketing strategies on social media because every brand influencer uses that much.

I have built my image from scratch because I knew how important it was at first.

Growing up I watched a lot of tv Talkshows which were amazing from the Mai Chisamba,Noleen and Oprah as much as they touched on different societal issues there was a

group that was being left out along the way.Youth!! I asked myself why we didn’t have a youth platform were young people could have a safe space to dialogue whilst at the same time showing their potential through their work.So that’s really how Orbit came about it was a platform specifically designed to Celebrate young people!!

Challenges: When I started Orbit I had nothing.No equipment,no connections but I had a vision,a dream that kept me up at night and the skill of negotiating. It was a lot, I had a part time job during University vacation and I’d save the money to do what I needed to do to get the show going.Also as a young woman you have to work twice as hard to prove that you deserve to be on a big broadcasting platform. I had and still have an amazing supportive family,friends that guided me along the way!!

I fell in love with your Talk Show the first time I watched it on YouTube. It literally blew me away and I’m sure a lot of people are being inspired. Where did you get such an idea from, considering the uniqueness you’re providing?

The truth of the matter is Zimbabwe has lots of stories that haven’t been told.These phenomenal stories of phenomenal people young or old have to be told right they demand that. It’s unfortunate that for so long in the Zimbabwe Media industry quality content has been subjective rather than being objective.

Quality Content is critical,Quality content is Universal.I watched and learnt from other Talkshows that I loved that I could also relate with. I wanted to communicate for change making a difference in people’s lives through telling the untold stories of young people.

Mr. Cole you’re one of the best choreographers in Zimbabwe, your talent has been published in numerous media platforms and its beyond doubt that you’re good at this. Do you learn your dance moves or they come naturally?

I learn probably 20% as we adopt some of our dance moves to suit what we need to portray however dance is an evolution and a cycle of motion. It keeps changing. Most of my expression is self taught and broken down into a single express #dancewithjohncole.

The beginning of Savvy Chats Talk show is a very good example of why I stated my team as my greatest secret.

An idea that started off as a YouTube blog on event planning saw a gap in the market and had a light bulb moment on how I was surrounded with all the resources I needed to transform that idea into more interactive hence started the talk show. This meant now I could engage myself in more creative dialogues. This also meant I could continue to grow my brand during this Covid-19 Season. # If you had the chance to turn the hands of time, what advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?

Be Patient - once you have learnt the art of patience, you can overcome anything thrown your way!

Time waits for nobody. Stop procrastinating. # Taffy your sense of fashion is breath-taking, do you think how one dress is important in our society?

Thank you! To answer your questions - Yes - my advice is getting to know who you are first and you will not lose your sense of style because of pressure from society to look a certain way. My everyday thought is confidence is built within and expressed outside as well. Some might say first impression counts, I believe in leaving a footprint. My name is Sharon Mapoka. I am a proud 21-yearold Zimbabwean Tall Girl. I am 6ft5 which is 1.95m. I am a final year Sociology student at the University of Zimbabwe. I chose this because of my love for working with people. I play basketball during my free time. I don’t have a stable job now because I haven’t finished school, however I do online work for some companies as a Social Media Manager and actually it has helped me fill some financial gaps at home and at school. In two words I describe myself as incredibly ambitious. Am a very good communicator and I find it easy for me to relate to other people. I really enjoy learning new things and am constantly seeking out new learning opportunities. I’m not afraid of failure, I am a risk taker. In fact, I think failure is an essential part of the experimental process that gets you to success.

I move because I don’t allow outside approval to do what makes me happy. I present myself as an amazing human being because of my great sense of humor and my ability to blend in instantly with

people around, which is one of the things that has helped me gain “popularity”. I am consistent with the way I live my life.

Undoubtedly, I have fallen in love with the way you define excellence, what’s your secret?

Hahaha my sense of humor is my biggest secret and also the fact that I work tirelessly. I always put persistent effort in everything I do since I believe achievement is a matter of persistence. If you wish to succeed, be prepared to fail, and to get right back to work after you do.

As a role model to many young people out there, can you please share how you manage to become this phenomenal lady you are today?

When asked this question about how I manage to be this phenomenal, I always relate to Maya Angelou’s poem titled “Phenomenal Woman”. I fight against society’s stereotypical and formulaic idea of what the quintessential woman should look and act like by being unapologetically myself. I don’t fit into societal ideals. To add on, I am a woman loves her God. I stand up to what I believe in. And I cannot be easily swayed or silenced. These are the few aspects that has made me a Phenomenal young lady that I am today!!

haron what’s your own opinion on child abuse and do you think there is anything our community at large can do to help the victims?

According to my own perception there should be no such thing as child abuse anywhere, ever. Children do not ask to be born. Children do not get to choose their parents. They do not choose how they desire to live. They get abused by the people who are supposed to love and care for them because they are defenseless. Children do not deserve to be treated in a way that affects them emotionally or spiritually as this has a great negative impact on them as they grow up.

Our community needs to tighten laws so that the child abusers receive longer sentences. It’s sad to see the heinous crimes people have done to children and then they receive a few years. Anyone who touches a child inappropriately or beats a child mercilessly, deserves to spend their eternity in prison.

I’m sure we have all had our shares of life, but where do you derive your motivation when you begin to feel like quitting?

When I feel like quitting, I derive my Motivation from Mr. Tinashe Mutarisi. His whole story of success has taught me that, one should never give up, as Setbacks and Obstacles Are Necessary....

Sharon, the fear of being judged by others has buried many gifts and talents. What is your advice to someone out there trying to find themselves?

Advice I would give to someone out there trying to find themselves is * Give yourself credit for the small things you do *Don’t seek to fit in with the crowd *You don’t need outside approval to know you’re doing what makes you happy If you had the chance to turn the hands of time, what advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?

If I could go back in time and give advice to my 18-year-old self, here is what I would say: *Don’t be so afraid of failure!! *Don’t just let life happen to you, take the reins, even if you have no idea where you’re leading yourself. *Always be on the lookout for something better, something more interesting, something truer to your heart. * Always Reach Out, as you grow up some of your biggest regrets will be because you were afraid of reaching out, or hesitated for too long.
