Zhang Liyuan Autism - Autism a Disease Becoming More Common Autism is a complex disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life. Disease comes from a neurological dysfunction order that disrupts social interaction and communication skills. Thus, children and adults with autism have difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions and leisure activities. Autism affects one in 166 and increases the birth rate from 10% to 17% per year, estimated that in a decade, four million Americans will be affected... Children and adults with autism can have any combination of disease specific behaviors. Two children with the same diagnosis may act quite different. Some people who suffer from a mild form of the disease have difficulty initiating and maintaining a conversation. Many cannot handle social interactions and have aggressive behavior. Some children with autism are passive, silent and require little things to their parents (or at all), and some are very fussy, crying a lot, sometimes non-stop from the time of awakening to fallen asleep. Those who have autism resist to changes, have difficulty expressing needs and are using gestures instead of words or obsessively repeat certain words or phrases. They may laugh or cry for no reason, preferring to be alone, have difficulty socializing with others, are attached to objects, not seeking eye contact, not responding to normal teaching methods or behave as would be deaf, although tests show results for normal hearing.
