Each colour appears true to colour, making it easy to predict the mixing result and the fnal colour outcome. With NORDIC SHADES, you can achieve up to 100% grey coverage. CREATE A UNIQUE & PERSONALIZED HAIR COLOUR

With NORDIC SHADES, you can use an existing colour from the line or mix your own to create a completely custom colour tailored to each individual client.

The fnal colour result depends on your client’s current hair colour. It is essential to have a detailed consultation to understand their wishes – whether the colour should blend naturally and enhance their hair ’s existing tones or provide full coverage. Thanks to the gentle, caring formula, the colours can be used on a regular basis.

PH VALUE & LONG-LASTING RESULTS

The colours have a pH value of 2,7–3,1. This low pH helps seal the cuticle and rebuild the hair, in contrast to high pH that can be damaging. Clients will experience a smooth, natural regrowth transition, as the colour blends seamlessly with their hair.

The longevity of the colour is highly dependent on how the hair is cared for after colouring. It’s essential to guide your client on the right aftercare routine to ensure long-lasting and vibrant results.

ZENZ recommends using colour-protecting haircare after colouring. Choose products with a low pH value, and advise washing hair with lukewarm rather than hot water to help lock in the colour and keep the cuticle closed. Always use heat protection before styling with blow dryers, straighteners or curling irons. Additionally, it’s important to protect coloured hair from UV rays, salt water, and chlorine to maintain the best possible colour result.

Beautiful hair doesn’t require unwanted chemicals. At ZENZ, we have made a clear choice to develop products free from ingredients that may pose risks to health or the environment. That doesn’t mean compromising on performance. With ZENZ bleaching and hair colours, you can achieve both bleach and vibrant colouring in a wide spectrum of shades. Our colours coat the hair shaft rather than penetrating it, helping to reinforce and strengthen the hair. The result is shiny, healthy-looking hair with a naturally radiant play of colour.

ZENZ’s vegan hair colours are non-oxidative, perfume-free, and formulated without ingredients suspected of being allergenic, endocrine-disrupting, or carcinogenic – all without compromising on performance or durability.

The colours have a soft, creamy texture, making them pleasant to work with and comfortable on the skin. They do not develop fumes or unpleasant odours during application. With this colour system, you have more control over the fnal result, as the pigments build gradually – allowing you to adjust intensity as you apply.

NOURISHING INGREDIENTS

ZENZ’s non-oxidative colours are based on active, plant-based ingredients with caring properties, making them particularly suitable for clients with damaged hair. The colours are formulated with a vegan base and include provitamin B5, almond protein and papaya extract, which work to hydrate and nourish the hair.

NON-OXIDATIVE WITH INNOVATIVE COLOUR TECHNOLOGY

Unlike traditional hair colours, non-oxidative colours are free from unwanted chemicals. Non-oxidative hair colours do not penetrate the hair shaft but instead settle in the cuticle layer, preserving the hair’s natural texture. When applied, the colour molecules adhere to the surface of the hair. This is achieved through an innovative technique where the molecules are attracted to the proteins in the hair. At the same time, nourishing ingredients wrap the hair in a protective layer, smoothing any uneven areas to leave the hair shinier, healthier, and visibly stronger.

When applied using the correct technique, you can achieve optimal results and unlock the full potential of the colours. Non-oxidative colour uses direct pigments, which means the colour is already in its fnal form and does not need to be activated through a chemical process.

KEY INGREDIENTS

NORDIC SHADES is based on a vegan formula enriched with provitamin B5, almond protein, and papaya extract to deeply moisturise and care for the hair.

PROVITAMIN B5 (PANTHENOL)

Provitamin B5 provides moisture, nourishment and protection. Helps repair damaged hair while restoring volume and shine.

GLYCERIN (GLYCERIN)

Glycerin derived from plant-based fats and oils. Retains moisture and softens the hair. Helps maintain the hair’s natural moisture balance and improves elasticity. Able to attract and bind water. Helps retain moisture within the product to prevent it from drying out.

ALMOND PROTEIN (HYDROLYZED SWEET ALMOND PROTEIN)

Almond protein protects, softens and nourishes the hair. Reduces static electricity by neutralising surface charge. Leaves the hair easy to detangle, smooth, soft, shiny and voluminous.

PAPAYA EXTRACT (CARICA PAPAYA FRUIT EXTRACT)

Papaya extract has nourishing, hydrating, and regenerating properties.

ZENZ cares for both you as a hairdresser and your clients. Therefore the vegan hair colour range NORDIC SHADES is without unwanted chemicals such as PPD, PTD, toluene-2,5-diamine, resorcinol, ammonia, and other harmful hair colouring agents.

The hair colour line is approved for use in Green Salons. As a certifed Green Salon, you commit to prioritising environmental and health considerations by avoiding potentially harmful substances in all products used. Avoiding harmful ingredients is crucial for your health—both as a professional hairdresser and for your clients, especially if they have allergies or are pregnant.

Green Salon has identifed a list of substances that are highly allergenic, hormone-disrupting or carcinogenic. These substances must never be present in a Green Salon, either in products used or sold. At ZENZ, we also exclude all SLS surfactants, which can be drying and/or irritating to the skin.

HAIR COLOURING DURING PREGNANCY

It is always up to the individual to assess whether they feel comfortable colouring their hair during pregnancy. Authorities generally recommend that pregnant women avoid oxidative hair colours, which often contain harmful colouring agents.

HAIR & SCALP RINSE FRESH HERBS NO. 87

USE DURING COLOUR TREATMENT

When rinsing out the colour, we recommend using any ZENZ shampoo of your choice. Wash the hair twice. To remove colour stains around the hairline, emulsify residual colour with water and gently massage around the edges.

After shampoo, apply Hair & Scalp Rinse Fresh Herbs no. 87, which gently removes excess colour and closes the cuticle. Mix the rinse with water at a 1:3 ratio and pour over the hair. Let it sit for 2–3 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

Finish with your preferred ZENZ conditioner. Massage it into both hair and scalp before rinsing.

For optimal colour maintenance and shine, clients can incorporate Hair & Scalp Rinse Fresh Herbs no. 87 into their haircare routine. With a low pH value of 3–3,5, it helps preserve colour while also removing limescale, leaving the hair clearer and more radiant.

GUIDANCE FOR YOUR CLIENT

Hair & Scalp Rinse Fresh Herbs no. 87 is a hair & scalp rinse for all hair types with colour sealing effect. It contains nourishing plant and fruit extracts that gently yet deeply cleanse both hair and scalp. One of the key ingredients, Ginkgo Biloba, helps maintain the hair’s moisture balance. Waste products and limescale are removed from the hair, making it soft and easier to style. Hair becomes shiny with more volume. The rinse can be included in a haircare routine to help keep the scalp clean and healthy.

USE

It is recommended to use Hair & Scalp Rinse Fresh Herbs no. 87 as needed following these steps:

• Wash the hair twice using your preferred ZENZ shampoo.

• Fill the lid three times with no. 87 and add to a glass of water or mix with water in a 1:3 ratio.

• Pour the mixture over hair and wait 2-3 minutes.

• Rinse thoroughly.

• Finish with your preferred ZENZ conditioner.

HAIRCARE

HAIRCARE WITH COLOUR SEALING EFFECT

The lasting of hair colour depends greatly on how the hair is cared for after colouring. It is therefore essential to guide your client on an optimal haircare routine to maintain the colour ’s vibrancy and longevity. ZENZ recommends using SLS-free products with colour sealing properties after a colour treatment. It is also benefcial to use products with a low pH value and wash the hair in lukewarm water instead of hot, as this helps lock in the colour pigments and keep the hair cuticle closed. A hair treatment can also enhance the colour’s durability.

ZENZ offers a complete haircare line that gently strengthens and nourishes the hair. The products are based on active, natural and certifed organic ingredients and are available both with and without perfume. Choose from a variety of shampoos, conditioners and treatments to create the perfect foundation for healthy, strong and nourished hair regardless of hair type. Use a silver shampoo for grey or blonde hair to maintain a cool tone.

OIL

MULTIFUNCTIONAL OILS

Multifunctional oils that moisturise, strengthen and add vitality to all hair types. Especially benefcial for coloured hair For maximum effect, they can also be applied to the scalp to nourish and care for the skin, as they are free from silicones. Use the oils on their own, mixed with Treatment Pure no. 03 or together with styling products.

STYLING

NOURISHING STYLING PRODUCTS WITH HEAT PROTECTION

It is important to use heat protection on coloured hair. Always remember to apply heat protection before using a hairdryer, straightener or curling iron. In addition, it is essential to protect the hair from UV rays, salt water, and chlorine to preserve the colour for as long as possible.

ZENZ offers a complete line of styling products, including wax, paste, gel, hair powder, salt water spray, mousse, and hairspray. These products are truly unique, as they are both effective and rich in nourishing ingredients — making them ideal for coloured hair. The styling products are available with or without perfume.

ULTRABLOND CLAY POWDER

Dust-free bleaching powder based on clay and rice. Gentle on scalp. Creamy texture that is easy to apply. Recommended for highlighting techniques or as bleach bath in heavy-coloured hair. Lightens up to 7 levels in 50 minutes. Innovative technology with natural active ingredients which have soothing and anti-itching properties. Guar gum gives a better texture, better adherence on hair and a better result. Without perfume, ammonia and ammonium persulfate.

• Lightens up to 7 levels.

• Has good contact with the hair, which gives perfect precision and a uniform result.

• Creamy consistency and stable mixture throughout the processing time.

• Extract of Sichuan pepper, capers and camomile has soothing and antipruritic properties.

• The plant ingredient guar gum provides better consistency and better fxation on the hair.

• Optimal result: soft and shiny hair.

USE

• Apply in wet or dry hair.

• Mix the bleaching powder in a bowl with Brightening Activator (oxide) Volume 10, 20 or 40. Mixing ratio from 1:1,5 to 1:3 depending on the chosen bleaching technique.

• Apply the mixture starting from the roots towards the ends.

• Check frequently the level of lightening.

• Rinse thoroughly once the desired result is achieved and wash with a mild shampoo to remove all residual traces of bleach. Maximum processing time: 50 minutes.

Can be used on scalp with Brightening Activator (oxide) not exceeding volume 20 (6%).

MIXING RATIO

From 1:1.5 to 1:3 depending on the bleaching technique chosen. It is important to add the time it takes to apply the product in the hair, to the treatment time - otherwise it will drag too long. Do not use on porous hair. Oxide not exceeding volume 20 (6%) can be used on scalp.

GUIDE TO ULTRABLOND CLAY POWDER

We recommend using UTRABLOND CLAY POWDER with BRIGHTENING ACTIVATOR according to the table below. The products are ideal for highlights with foil/paper, highlights with cap, full head bleach, very fair lightening, application on top of colour during processing time and bleach bath. Lightening technique

HAIRSPA

Self-heating cap. Boosts the effect of hair treatments and reduces the exposure time with hair dye, as it adds heat to the treatment — completely without the use of electricity. An eco-friendly choice with great effect. The thermal cap can be used again and again.

Unique patented technology. An insulating layer retains the heat lost through the scalp and creates the perfect warm moist conditions to open the cuticle and allow dye and treatment to penetrate deep into the cortex. This increases the effectiveness of treatments and can reduce the colour exposure time by up to 50%.

USE

Put on the thermal cap after applying hair treatment, henna or hair dye and let it sit approx. 30-40 minutes (can be shortened or extended as desired).

No machine washing. The technology no longer works after machine washing.

PAPER NOT FOIL

Sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to tinfoil when dyeing hair. Made from industrial waste from the construction industry, which is recycled and turned into paper. No trees felled, no use of water, low carbon emissions. Decomposes naturally when the sun’s UV rays penetrate the earth.

PAPER NOT FOIL uses 96% less energy in the production than aluminum foil and no water is used in the manufacturing process. Can be reused up to 3-4 times. Easy to reuse. Simply rinse or machine wash with a few towels.

USE

• Cut the paper to the desired size.

• Section the hair and position the paper where hair is to be dyed.

• Rest hair to be dyed onto the paper and apply colour generously to hair and paper

• Fold the paper in half and press together.

• Let the colour develop according to the manufacturer’s recommended processing time.

• To remove, slide out the paper from the hair and rinse.

REUSE

To reuse the paper, rinse and dry it by hand or machine wash with a few towels. Pull them out, press them fat and hang them to dry. They can also be placed in a basket to air dry during the day or they can be dried in cold air in the tumble dryer for 10 minutes.

COLOUR

NORDIC SHADES GUIDE

Use the following guide for NORDIC SHADES:

• Wear gloves.

• Apply the colour evenly to clean, dry hair.

• Leave the colour on for 20 minutes with heat or 30 minutes without heat. Tip: Use ZENZ HairSpa, a self-heating cap, to reduce processing time.

• Tip: Massage the colour thoroughly into the hairline before adding water. Apply a small amount of ZENZ shampoo of your choice and massage again to help remove any colour from the skin.

• Rinse the colour out thoroughy with water.

• Wash the hair twice with ZENZ shampoo of your choice.

• Use Hair & Scalp Rinse Fresh Herbs no. 87. Mix the treatment with water in a 1:3 ratio and pour it over the hair. Leave it in for 2-3 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

• Finish with a ZENZ conditioner of your choice.

WARNING: For professional use only. Follow instructions for use. Do not use the product to dye eyelashes or eyebrows. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Keep out of children’s reach. Protect from sunlight. Do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50°C.

With REDO, you can gently tone down or remove colour without damaging the hair. REDO only removes superfcial colour pigments without lightening the hair’s natural pigments. It works without oxidation or reduction agents.

Use the following guide for REDO:

• Wear gloves.

• Apply REDO in an even and thick layer to clean, dry hair.

• Let REDO work for 3-5 minutes to tone down the colour or up to 30 minutes with 48°C heat to remove as much colour as possible.

• Comb through the hair section by section to pull out the colour.

• Wash the hair twice with ZENZ shampoo of your choice.

• Finish with a ZENZ conditioner of your choice.

PRE-PIGMENTATION

DIRECT PIGMENTS MAKE IT EASY

When working with non-oxidative colours, there is no need to pre-pigment natural hair. The non-oxidative colour coats the outside of the hair shaft and therefore works with the hair’s natural pigment.

PREVIOUSLY COLOURED HAIR

If the hair has previously been coloured with oxidative hair colour, some of the client’s natural pigment has been removed. Therefore, it is important to pre-pigment if you are going more than 2 levels darker.

We recommend indirect pre-pigmentation, where YELLOW or COPPER is added to the mixture to maintain colour intensity.

Use the following guideline for pre-pigmentation:

• For colouring at level 9-10, pre-pigment with YELLOW

• For colouring at level 7-8, pre-pigment with COPPER and YELLOW

• For colouring at level 5-6, pre-pigment with COPPER and RED

• For colouring at level 1-4, pre-pigment with RED

Mix your colour one shade darker than the desired result to achieve better coverage.

BLEACHED AND POROUS HAIR

When working on bleached and porous hair, it is equally important to consider pre-pigmentation in your colour mix. We do not recommend going more than 2 shades darker on bleached or very porous hair.

GREY HAIR

Grey hair typically occurs when the hair follicles loose their pigment due to a decrease in melanin production. This is a natural part of the ageing process, but can also be infuenced by genetic factors, stress, illness or lifestyle choices.

With NORDIC SHADES, you can colour grey hair in various ways – from soft blending, full coverage or by enhancing the grey tones.

When aiming to cover grey hair, it is always a good idea to use NATURAL SHADES e.g. 6/0 and add a touch of YELLOW for optimal results.

CLEAR GREY

More and more people choose to enhance their natural grey hair. With the right haircare routine and colour treatment, grey tones can be beautifully accentuated. NORDIC SHADES adds shine and smooths the surface of grey hair, which is often slightly coarse in texture. Use 9/1 and 6/1 to bring out the cool tones.

GREY BLENDING

The most natural grey coverage is easily achieved using NORDIC SHADES as Grey Blending. Choose a shade one level lighter than the client’s natural tone to colour the grey hairs and create a naturally blended result. This technique results in softer regrowth and a more vibrant and dimensional look.

GREY COVERAGE

If you want to fully cover grey hair, mix a shade matching the client’s natural tone or darker with a Natural Shade (e.g. 5/0). The result is shiny and beautiful with up to 100% grey coverage.

Please note: The colours do not lift the hair’s natural tone. If a lighter result is desired, begin by lightening the hair with ULTRABLOND CLAY POWDER.

GREY DIMENSION

To add life and dimension to grey hair, you can apply lowlights. NORDIC SHADES offers several cool, dark tones ideal for creating depth and contrast in grey hair. Apply the colour as highlights or lowlights to achieve a multi-tonal effect. Add a few drops of YELLOW to the mix to prevent the colour from becoming too cool.

BLEACHED HAIR

Create stunning results with ULTRABLOND CLAY POWDER. It’s based on clay and rice, making it ideal for both traditional highlights and freehand techniques. This effective and multifunctional bleaching powder is free from ammonia, perfume and ammonium persulfate. It produces no unpleasant odours during use and contains camomile, caper extract, and Sichuan pepper, which have anti-infammatory and soothing effects on the skin.

FULL HEAD BLEACH

ULTRABLOND CLAY POWDER is an effective lightening product. Its creamy texture and ability to lift up to 7 levels make it an excellent choice for full bleaching. Always assess the condition of the hair and scalp before starting the treatment. Always remember that bleaching powder mixed with 12% developer must never be applied to the scalp.

HIGHLIGHTS

There are countless ways to create highlights – and with ULTRABLOND CLAY POWDER, you have one product for all techniques. The product does not swell signifcantly, allowing for precise placement and enabling you to get very close to the scalp without worrying about scalp irritation or ’bleeding’. The lightening process is accelerated by heat, so you can reduce processing time by using heat from a HairMaster.

BALAYAGE

Balayage refers to the technique of sweeping the bleaching powder onto the hair. Because ULTRABLOND CLAY POWDER is a clay-based lightener, it is perfect for this purpose. When left uncovered, it dries on the surface, which helps prevent transfer to surrounding hair sections. Keep in mind that the bleaching process is slower when the product is not wrapped, so it can be benefcial to increase the developer strength accordingly

BLEACH BATH

ULTRABLOND CLAY POWDER can be used to lighten the hair 1–2 levels with what we call a summer wash or bleach bath. This treatment is a fantastic supplement to other bleaching services, as it gently lifts the hair and creates a brighter effect in a short amount of time. Use the following procedure:

• Mix one part ULTRABLOND CLAY POWDER, one part BRIGHTENING ACTIVATOR and one part shampoo, and work the mixture into damp hair during washing.

• Start the treatment at the neck and work through the hair upwards, section by section. Avoid applying the mixture close to the scalp.

• Processing time and activator volume should be chosen based on the condition of the hair and desired result.

This technique can also be used to remove colour from hair previously treated with oxidative hair colour.

REMOVAL OF DISCOLOURATION FROM COLOUR BOMB OR OCHRE

ULTRABLOND CLAY POWDER can be used to remove discolouration caused by colour bombs, silver shampoo, ochre and similar. The clay based bleaching powder is mixed with shampoo, and the hair is ‘washed’ with the mixture on the affected areas. The product is worked into the hair, and the warmth from your hands activates the lightening process. This way, you gently remove unwanted discolouration.

NORDIC SHADES is fantastic as a fnishing touch to a bleaching service. With its nourishing ingredients, it cares for and protects the bleached hair.

GLOSS GUIDE

Gloss can be used after bleaching or as a colour refresh for your client.

• Wash with Shampoo Rhassoul no. 16 or Shampoo Rhassoul Pure no. 19 and towel-dry thoroughly.

• Apply the colour in an even layer on towel-dried hair.

Tip: Comb through the hair to distribute the colour evenly and achieve a uniform result.

• Leave the colour on for 10-20 minutes.

Tip: Place a warm towel over the hair to open the cuticle and create a pleasant experience for your client.

• Rinse the colour out thoroughly with water.

• Wash the hair twice with a ZENZ shampoo of your choice.

• Finish with a ZENZ conditioner of your choice.
