A Letter from Zencca For plant advocates, the sea change over the last 10 years has been amazing to watch: rising awareness of the benefits of cannabis, shrinking stigma about its use, rapid legalization across the states, and a drive for justice for those harmed by the misinformed policies of the past.

What is your Cannascope and what did you think of it?

My Cannascope profile was Maestro. I thought this was extremely interesting because by just answering a few questions they were able to know that I am indeed a creative person! I personally enjoy hands on crafts, I’m part of a medieval combat group and we make out own garb, armor, and even weapons. I also enjoy puzzles and games like solitaire and sudoku. The profile of maestro definitely fits me!

How and why did you start using cannabis?

I joined the Marine Corps when I was 17 and was medically discharged a year later with a torn ACL, a diagnosis of scoliosis, and a handful of mental health issues. I had received surgery to repair my ACL and afterwards I was prescribed pain medications. I got extremely dependent on these pain medications and honestly became additcted, which you can imagine turned abusive.

Although I also started to notice how nauseous, shaky, and zombie-fied I felt. I knew I couldn’t continue using pills and honestly wanted a more natural way to help manage my pain. I was able to try cannabis and was amazed by the relief it provided and even more amazed my only side effects were munchies and a really good night’s sleep!

Where do you see the cannabis industry of cannabis going?

Hopefully headed in a very positive direction of being federally legal throughout the United States and eventually the whole world! I definitely think this is going to be the reality sooner than later as more states are opening up to the medical and recreational benefits of cannabis!

What does Zencca mean to you and how do you see it being most helpful to the community?

I believe that many individuals are still stigmatized and not properly educated to the benefits that cannabis unlocks. Especially since we have started to research and test and create so many different types of strains and ratios. Cannabis as a whole has no one single reaction, rather the effect varies throughout individuals and you may have to try different things before you find what works best for the specific needs of that individual. Zencca understands this and helps you as an individual get an insight of what products have helped others that are similar to them! Zencca gives me a more personalized experience and also helps me easily locate those products.

How has a specific cannabis experience, good or bad, Helped you lead a better life?

I struggle with mental health issues such as anxiety, PTSD, and depression. Cannabis has overall helped me be able to mentally relax and enjoy my life rather than be controlled by thoughts and my physical inability to do so.

What tips or advice from your own cannabis experience would you give your past self when you were about to start using cannabis?

Don’t be afraid to try new things and different methods! It’s also really important to listen to how your body responds and be cautious not to over do it!

What is your Cannascope and what did you think of it?

My Cannascope was identified as Maestro. I completely agree with the descriptor of this specific scope. I am definitely someone who considers myself creative and always looking for the next adventure regarding hobbies and education.

How and why did you start using cannabis?

I started using cannabis off and on for the past two years or so. I only recently in the past four months have gotten into heavier use of cannabis to help aid my mental health journey. I use it medicinally, and occasionally recreationally. I am diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and also have suffered from an eating disorder. I have tried many different types of psychiatric medications to help me live with my disorders, but I always needed an extra boost, which cannabis was able to help provide without many negative side effects. I currently use a combination of psychiatric medications and high CBD cannabis.

What tips or advice from your own cannabis experience would you give your past self when you were about to start using cannabis?

Explore your options and don’t listen to anyone else. I have been given so many weird looks going into dispensaries asking for high CBD products and shied away for months at a time out of shamefulness. I was under the impression that the plant is all about THC, and I shouldn’t be using it mainly for CBD, because it is considered wasteful or seen as “bad” within the cannabis community. My overall advice would be to just do you boo!

What does Zencca mean to you and how do you see it being most helpful to the community?

Zencca is something I am still learning and getting into, so I cannot say it has any particular imprint on my life currently. I do think that it is very helpful for people just getting into cannabis use, for whatever the reason it may be, or even experienced users exploring their horizons further.

How has a specific cannabis experience, good or bad, helped you lead a better life?

Years ago, when I first partook in cannabis, I had a couple hundred milligrams of THC in an edible and had the worst trip ever. Ever since then I cannot consume, whether smoking or digesting, high THC products. I’m not entirely sure if it simply my personality type or my body reliving the panic attacks I had that night I consumed too much THC for my tolerance, but either way this experience has taught me that there is so much more to cannabis than just THC. CBD, CBG, CBN and much more are also amazing parts of the plant that I hope everyone, especially cannabis companies, broaden their scope on. I’d love to see more high CBD products at dispensaries!

What experience do you use cannabis for?

I use it for relaxation of my thoughts. I do not enjoy too much euphoria or too deep of a body high as it can trigger my anxiety. I simply want some relaxation of my mental anxiety. Occasionally I use it for menstrual cramps.

What’s the best activity you’ve ever performed while using cannabis?

I use cannabis before (and during) most activities so it is difficult to narrow down, but specifically I love sharing experiences and new adventures with friends while also incorporating cannabis! I love to be creative, paint, cook, go to the beach, a concert even something simple like watching a movie at home. I find cannabis helps enhance these experiences for the better—and of course it’s always great with friends!

What tips or advice from your own cannabis experience would you give your past self when you were about to start using cannabis?

If I could go back and talk to my younger stoner self, I would say, there is no need to overspend and over smoke. Over time your tolerance will build, and it’s okay to slow down and only smoke when you need to—or really want to! Another thing I’d tell my younger self is that I am not always supposed to be the only one chipping in for weed out of my friends just because I smoke a lot— fair is fair! A big thing I would tell young stoners is remember to clean your pieces! I always used to leave a bong outside as well when I was younger, don’t do it! It can cause lung infections and other problems. Lastly, if I could go back, I’d tell my younger self to not be overly afraid to smoke in public but be aware of your surroundings!

What does Zencca mean to you and how do you see it being most helpful to the community?

I feel like it’s just a great tool for strictly educating. It’s awesome to have an information base on cannabis to refer back to! It isn’t a store, just a helpful page to resort to for facts!

How has a specific cannabis experience, good or bad, helped you lead a better life?

The first experience that came to mind was going to see Niagara Falls a few years back with friends. Of course, we traveled with our little green friend, and it really made me feel more connected to earth and to nature around me. It was a beautiful experience for many reasons but cannabis definitely made it that much better! I also love going hiking on trails with friends and smoking always makes us feel less separated from the nature around us! It helped me realize I should always enjoy and live in the moment!

What experience do you use cannabis for?

I use cannabis in order to experience a multitude of things, mainly being calm and for my anxiety to be better. I also use it when I want to feel a burst of inspiration, creativity and motivation! I love how you can use different strains for different purposes whether I want to be mellowed out or more focused. The other main thing I use cannabis for is to meet people, make friends and connect with other awesome stoners! Physical experiences become a lot more enjoyable, such as cooking, reading, drawing, eating and listening to music.

My Cannascope was Philosopher, and I thought it was very insightful. I found the entire questionnaire to be interesting.

How and why did you start using cannabis?

I first tried it as a curious teenager and found it greatly helped with my speech impediment. Much later in life, as an adult in my mid-twenties, I started using cannabis again because I liked the way it made me feel. It helps with my mental health and physical health issues and is more reliable than pain medication. After I started using it for a while, I built a career around it. Now, cannabis is part of my daily life.

How has a specific cannabis experience, good or bad, helped you lead a better life?

Rediscovering cannabis in my twenties resulted in me wanting to learn everything I possibly could about cannabis, and that led to me having a career in the cannabis industry. I’m now a content marketer for cannabis companies, primarily dispensaries.

What new belief, behavior, or habit using cannabis has most improved your life?

The idea that I don’t have to smoke everyone out. This was costing me quite a bit, and it was getting to the point where people were taking advantage and just using me for my cannabis.

Now, I ensure (most) people come with something to match with.

What tips or advice from your own cannabis experience would you give your past self when you were about to start using cannabis?

Start low and go slow. There is truly no need to start off taking giant dabs. If you get too high, counteract the negative effects of THC with CBD.

Philosopher, I’d say it’s pretty accurate. I’m kind of a canna-nerd. I love doing research on new strains and products.

What are the cannabis products or tools you use most often? Or what are the ones that changed your life?

Tinctures are amazing! I put a few drops in my coffee in the morning to start my day, on the other hand, I have a few indica strips at night to wind down. CBD pre-rolls are always good to have too for during the day when THC isn’t the best option.

How has a specific cannabis experience, good or bad, helped you lead a better life?

Becoming a MMJ patient and seeing cannabis as a medicine and not a drug. Having all the things I have (ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD) I was also in a 47-car pile up and I suffer from chronic back pain. My job as a hairdresser requires me to stand all day. Without cannabis I couldn’t even get out of bed let alone stand 8-10 hours a day.

I would really love to see the industry spread more towards unlocking cannabis’ full potential.

There is still very little research on all the beneficial properties and untapped potential of cannabis.

What changes have you made or new realizations have you made recently using cannabis?

I’m a new mom and honestly cannabis is the best way to unwind and appreciate the day.

I started as a rebellious teen, but I started doing more research on it as I got older, because I was diagnosed with severe ADHD, anxiety and depression. So when I learned that cannabis products help with those disorders, I jumped on it so that I could get prescription pharmaceuticals!

I get really intense social anxiety in uncontrolled settings, such as grocery shopping, so it definitely helps me perform normal day-to-day tasks... though I do end up with a bit more snacks.

What new belief, behavior, or habit using cannabis has most improved your life?

CBD is a hoax and doesn’t help. 10mg of an edible is good starting dosage. The best way to consume is by smoking flower.”

Microdosing before work! I suffer from extreme back and neck pain due to a car accident when I was 11, so I can perform work tasks in a more comfortable state.

So to be quite frank, everyone’s biochemistry makeup is so different, so no two people’s experience of medicating will be the same.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad experience from cannabis, because I start low and slow with any new products I try, but I started recognizing more stability within my own mental and physical health without taking my prescriptions.

What is your Cannascope and what did you think of it?

I am a Mastermind. At first, it does sound kind of pretentious, but I wasn’t surprised. After reviewing the traits, I could easily think of many times throughout my life where this was the case. I don’t think a Mastermind is meant to be bossy, but I think we are so self-directed that we sometimes forget others lack that internal motivation. I love learning, not just for the reward but for the process. I think having pushed myself so hard is one of the main reasons I have such a well-developed sense of self. It is this exposure to educational pursuits that have always kept me progressive and motivated.

What experience do you use cannabis for?

Everything. My mind tends to run at about 100mph, so cannabis just helps me slow everything down a bit. It can make me a bummer at parties from time to time, but for me cannabis is less social and more about helping me throughout the day. I don’t like prescription pain pills and I’m not a big drinker.

Never smoke when in a bad mood. It doesn’t improve the situation, just makes me more aware and then anxious.

When I think Zencca, I think of a more holistic approach to the cannabis consumer. Typically, when looking at popular cannabis profiles, we either end up with hippies, thugs, or rappers.

There is a lot more to the cannabis community than this. We are teachers, local officials, small business owners, etc. Cannabis isn’t so much about the perspective for us, but rather a way of life.

What changes have you made or new realizations have you had in the last few years of using cannabis?

I have all the skills needed to be a ganjapreneur. I know it can be a corny term, but I do believe growing cannabis has made me more creative and receptive to new ideas.

How and why did you start using cannabis?

I was pretty much on my own in college and cannabis was a way for me to handle my extreme anxiety. I found out in college I was dyslexic, and it made it tough at first. Rather than give up or find an excuse to set the bar low, I was able to finish my degree. Cannabis helped greatly throughout the good and bad times. I remember the first joint I ever smoked. I ate an entire box of stale Apple Jacks. Still the best bowl of cereal I’ve ever had.

What is your Cannascope and what did you think of it?

My Cannascope is Mastermind, and I think it is a perfect fit! The results following the quiz fit me fairly well. I was shocked!

How has a specific cannabis experience, good or bad, helped you lead a better life?

I was the production manager for the pilot episode of a social media cannabis show and the experience really helped me to be more comfortable about sharing/being open about my cannabis use. It was great learning about and connecting with the different brands that participated in that pilot and working with the hosts and crew who believe in cannabis or utilize cannabis themselves.

Nowadays I am pretty open about my cannabis use (as seen through my Instagram) and like sharing about my experiences in hopes it may help someone else who is cannabis-curious. I also have a goal of producing my own cannabis events through my company The Eventgers. I envision an event that is tailored towards professionals like myself through design, activations, brand tables, etc. but appeals to the senses: great lighting, rugs and lounges soft to the touch, excellent visuals, music where applicable, delicious smells and FOOD—cannot forget great food! A true sensory experience.

Ultimately, it feels great to not have to hide that side of myself and show that cannabis can be part of a healthy and highly-productive lifestyle. Cannabis consumption does not discount you as a person, and I look forward to being part of the movement and changing the rhetoric through our events.

The concept of Zencca is quite smart—cannabis consumption is a bit of trial-and-error as you work to discover the right blends and dosages that work specifically for your needs. Zencca is a great tool because it allows for people to learn from others with a similar profile about their experience with certain products and use that feedback when making purchases—and that is super helpful!

How and why did you start using cannabis?

My cannabis story isn’t unique in how I started—I was young and naive! I knew of cannabis (“weed”) in high school but did not actually try cannabis until I started college and was hanging with older friends. They introduced me to the basics—smoking a pipe, bong, joints, blunts, etc. and everything that came with it: falling asleep on the couch, the tremendous munchies! Good times. I didn’t expand my knowledge or usage of cannabis outside of recreational until my 30s.

What new belief, behavior, or habit using cannabis has most improved your life?

Microdosing. I find starting the day with ~5MG THC or ~15MG CBD and consuming a similar dosage at different times throughout the day keeps me feeling mellow, relaxed, able to knock out my busy day and unwind at the end of the day to do it all over again.

The community and educational side of it is super beneficial. Being able to cater to your quiz the products that you may love and some that are more popular. If you’re in an area with dispensaries for medical or recreational, it is very beneficial because it not only gives you some information on the product but also provides you locations of where to find said product. You can also review products and read other reviews to see how people feel. That’s also beneficial because some people do go by reviews and just to know how others have experienced each product.

What new belief, behavior, or habit using cannabis has most improved your life?

I suffer from severe depression, severe anxiety, and panic attacks. Cannabis has helped lower my medicine dosages as well as keep my insomnia at bay with specific cultivars. I can honestly say cannabis has fully helped me with all of it.

What’s the best activity you’ve ever performed while using cannabis?

HIKING! Being high and hiking is a whole new experience. Especially if you’re smoking a great hybrid that uplifts you and gets you going!

Revolutionary—I loved taking the quiz and getting my cannascope! I really think it fits and describes me pretty well.

How and why did you start using cannabis?

I wanted to come off my anxiety medications, and a friend suggested cannabis. I also have issues with my lower back from a trauma a few years back, and it helps me tremendously with pain.

How has a cannabis experience helped you lead a better life?

It helps me with my anxiety (which feels like it runs my life from time to time). I had a serious trauma in my life, and it helps me cope with the anxiety and PTSD without being on prescription medications. That for me is a big deal.

The purchase of my Volcano changed the game for me. It is such a clean smoke, you really get the flavor profiles and it helps my cough. I also think it helps my herb last longer.

Be careful with edibles! Slow and easy—wait at least 90 mins before you eat more if you’re not feeling it, because they WILL kick in.

Working out, hands down. Smoking before a workout helps me push so much harder. My body feels more relaxed, and it helps me get in a mental zone to kick some ass in my workouts.

How and why did you start using cannabis?

I started using cannabis at the age of 17/18. I could never sleep and had a lot of anxiety. I was telling all this to someone I knew at the time, and they offered up one of their old pens and a cart. After a couple hours of staring at the wall like “woah wall”. I did in fact end up having the best night’s sleep I’d ever had in years.

What cannabis product that’s $200 or less that you’ve used in the last year has impacted your life?

Stiiizy pods are well under $200 and I love them! Indica Stiiizy pods are so good for knocking me out. What I really love are using them on the go, so small and convenient to use anywhere to inspire creativity wherever you go!

I use it for lots of experiences, but one of the big ones is the social aspect. I love meeting other like-minded chill people, smoking together and connecting with my fellow human.

My new habit of using cannabis is using hemp wick to light my bongs or pipes. It is a healthier alternative and not as damaging to the lungs.

I would tell my past self to slow down! I would tell myself that smoking marijuana isn’t an accessory, it’s there to help you with your health. When I first started, I was pretty wasteful by packing too much in one hit. Less is more!

I had this one experience when I was uninformed about cannabis, and I didn’t know how strong it could be. I was with someone who I trusted, and it was only my second time smoking.

They started to joke around about how I said I didn’t feel anything the first time, so they loaded me way too big of a hit.

It was probably one of the scariest times of my life. I had no control over myself , and I am very fortunate I wasn’t at a party or something.
