First impressions matter. They matter at work. They matter when you’re out and about in public. Matching suit and shoes may be a headache for some, but worry no more, here is a colour and style matching guide just for you! One thing you should definitely avoid is wearing shirts with prints or patterns. The wisest choice for a semi-formal or formal occasion is a one colour shirt!

Shoes should be chosen according to the color and style of the suit. 04 • GOLD EDITION

Do Travel Light. When you leave for the convention hall every morning, be mindful that there is nowhere to store belongings. If you pack it, you will carry it all day. I like to travel light at such events. Don’t Wear New Shoes. Every year, I see women walking around the convention blistered and bleeding from uncomfortable or brand new shoes. If you have a go-to pair of flats or high heels, bring them. Even if they look a bit worn, you will be on your feet for most of the day, so be kind to them. Do Choose a Colour Family. For work travel, I stick to the navy, white, and grey family. These neutral colours coordinate and can be jazzed up with accessories. This also means you get to pack fewer pairs of shoes for the convention.

Day 1 in Meetings and Convention Hall: Short sleeved navy dress with open front white blazer and nude wedges. You can add a classy scarf for the heck of it.

Day 2 in Meetings and Convention Hall: A navy pleated skirt and a lighter blue coloured blouse or shirt. Wedges.

Day 3 in Meetings and Convention Hall: Navy pant suits are a must and super comfortable accompanied by a long pearl necklace. Wedges.

“My favourite restaurant is Nusr-Et Dubai, with international cuisine” Mr. Necat Celik, owner of Rixos Mobile Phones “My favourite restaurant in the world is Dinetti, based in my city (Wroclaw), from where I'm starting my day. They serve all kinds of food there but what I love is their breakfast. You can find almost everything from local polish cuisine to Mediterranean cuisine to fantastic Arabic food. The second reason why it is my favourite restaurant is because of both the inside and outside environment. Because it is in the city centre beautiful old buildings surround it and some are renovated (opera, monopol hotel). The third reason is friends. We a have tradition to start our mornings together and this is the most important thing there. You don't have to call anybody because for sure someone will be sitting there! You can eat fantastic breakfast with fantastic company at a fantastic place” Mr. Lukasz Smyk, owner of Parktel “The best restaurant is at home, mother’s food is the best!” Mr. Bekzod Akmalkhonov, Managing Director of Amir Group FZCO “Aleria Restaurant in Athens, stylish and contemporary or the Dinner In the Sky restaurant, and last but not least the Oroscopo Restaurant” Mr. SaravananNatesan, owner of Fast Track PTE

Happy hour Bring on the cocktails! It was about time we got a bit educated on cocktail recipes, I mean, we all know how to drink them but do we know how to make them? Impress your friends with your new bartending skills this weekend … almost everyone is looking for an excuse to sip on a long drink.

Negroni With equal parts Campari, gin and vermouth, this seemingly-simple cocktail is actually quite intriguing with a bittersweet taste that is both refreshing and complex. Orson Welles was once quoted saying, “The bitters are excellent for your liver, the gin is bad for you. They balance each other out.” The Negroni is traditionally garnished with an orange peel and served on the rocks. (Ingredients: 30 ml Gin, 30 ml Campari, 30 ml Sweet vermouth. Garnish: Orange peel) Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice, and stir until well-chilled. Strain into a rocks glass filled with large ice cubes. Garnish with an orange peel.

Manhattan This colourful, bourbon-based cocktail is recognized for its prominent reputation. You'll often see a traditional Manhattan in the hands of New York socialites or among ritzy, fashion-forward movie personalities. And, of course, no Manhattan is incomplete without a cherry on top. (Ingredients:Ice, 2 parts whiskey, 1 part sweet vermouth, 1 to 2 dashes bitters, such as Angostura, Orange peel &Real Maraschino Cherries) Place ice in a cocktail shaker. Add the whiskey, vermouth and bitters. Rub the orange peel around the rim of the cocktail glass. Strain the drink into the glass. Add 1 to 2 Real Maraschino Cherries and enjoy! 08 • GOLD EDITION

Dirty Martini Despite its suggestive name, the Dirty Martini is actually quite sophisticated. This gin-based martini features a surprising splash of olive juice, making it slightly different than its dry counterpart. The salty taste creates a pleasing accompaniment to dry vermouth and gin. (Ingredients: 75 ml Vodka or gin, 15 ml Dry vermouth, 15 ml Olive brine. Garnish: 1 Olives)

Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with 2 olives.

Mojito This classic Cuban cocktail features a combination of citrus, sweet and mint flavours to overpower the potency of rum and provide a refreshing taste. A Mojito can be especially enjoyable on a hot summer day while lounging poolside. (Ingredients: 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) fresh lime juice, 2 heaping teaspoons superfine sugar, 1 cup crushed ice, 12 fresh mint leaves, plus 5 small sprigs for garnish, 1/4 cup (2 ounces) white rum, 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) club soda)

In 10-ounce glass (such as Collins or highball), stir together lime juice and sugar until sugar dissolves. Add 1/4 cup crushed ice. Rub mint leaves over rim of glass, then tear leaves in half and add to glass. Gently stir for 15 seconds, then add rum, remaining crushed ice, and club soda. Gently stir for 5 seconds, then tuck mint sprigs into top of glass and insert tall straw.

Long Island Iced Tea For those who love iced tea, this Long Island-based highball is even better. It may look like a regular glass of tea, but a mixture of vodka, rum, tequila, gin, triple sec and cola give it a strong and tasty kick. (Ingredients: 1 ozGomme Syrup, 1 ozGomme Syrup, 1/2 oz Gin, 1 oz Lemon juice, 1/2 oz Triple sec, 1/2 oz Vodka, 1/2 oz White rum, 1/2 oz Tequila, splash of Cola)

Add all ingredients into highball glass filled with ice. Stir gently. Garnish with lemon spiral. Serve with straw. GOLD EDITION • 09

Back to basics When it comes to a woman’s wardrobe there is nothing really basic about it, different styles, different colours and patterns. Regardless of the style though, each wardrobe has at least 10 pieces of clothing and accessories that you will find for sure.

Black Ankle Pants

Diamond Studs

Your Perfect Jeans

Diamond studs, even faux ones, are a class act at any age.

Ballet Flats You may not idolize Audrey Hepburn the same way your college roommate did, but you have to admit that the woman knew the power of an ankle-grazing trouser. It's a chic alternative to jeans when you need to look a little more dressed up.

The OG skimmer shoe is the ballet flat. Who better to buy one from than the realballerina brand that happens to make the perfect pair?

Whether they are flared, cropped, skinny, or bootcut, every woman needs a pair of jeans. Instant mood-booster.

Trench Coat

The Perfect Blazer

Strappy Sandal

Do these look familiar? They should because they're worn by just about every celebrity on the red carpet. They go with denim just as well as they do with an Oscarworthy gown. A trench coat is lightweight yet waterproof, structured yet comfortable, and a classic statement in a neutral colour. If you want to stay true to tradition, go with the iconic coat by the brand who created it, Burberry.

Even if you don't work in a proper office, every woman should have at least one blazer that is a flattering to her silhouette. If it doesn't fit right off the bat, this is where your trusted tailor comes in.

Delicate Fine Jewellery

Great Sunglasses

You've owned your share of statement jewellery, but a gold necklace with a simple pearl is the kind of thing you can wear every day for the rest of your life.Shop an affordable brand like Mejuri that makes it super easy to obtain 14k without breaking the bank.

I own a ridiculous number of sunglasses, ranging in colour, shape and size. You can never have enough sunglasses!

Meet the woman, meet the leader. The electronics Industry is consisted of more than 80% males holding the key positions of owners, managing directors and CEOs, making the female key decision makers that much more important and valuable. It was a great pleasure interviewing Mrs Vineta Brutane, owner of MoonCom, one of the most established and well-known companies of our industry. While we are all familiar with MoonCom, a large supplier with a great range of consumer electronic products, next day delivery options, in-stock offers only and an outstanding 99.98% ratio of transactions being smooth, timely and accurate up until today, we wanted to get to know the woman-leader behind it. 14 • GOLD EDITION

Q1: How does it feel being one of the few female key decision makers in our industry? Would you like to see more women taking the role of a leader? I was always taking it as an advantage for my business, at least our company is very well recognized in the market but honestly speaking, there is no difference between being a woman decision maker or a man. In order to successfully run a company you have to have discipline, values and this is how you build the company’s reputation. I’m always proud for women who have successful businesses, I like to learn from and get inspired by them. Q2: How did you come to be part of the electronics industry? It will take us back to 2003 when after graduating University I had to make a decision in my life regarding where I want to see myself after studies in Public Relations.

My wish was to join a large international company where I would be able to advance my skill in creating a company’s reputation. Luckily, I joined a large IT distributor and that’s where I started my carrier in this industry. Given the circumstances of my life then but also having the great opportunity to work with foreign markets, I found myself creating my own company in 2007. Q3: What other businesses did you venture in or thinking of venturing in the future? In my opinion, daily health care leads to a long life. I recently started a new project related to health care, my company is a distributor of natural anti-aging medicine which I strongly believe that by following the right nutrition for our body daily we will manage to prevent the aging process and keep ourselves younger, energetic and healthy. Taking care of our health has to be part of our daily routine. Q4: Being a working woman and a mother has always been considered as one of the most difficult things to juggle with, how do you do it? I would say perfectly and it is in my nature to be constantly on the move, I draw energy by keeping busy with new challenges. I have three kids and they are all so different from one another, everyone needs special attention. I consider that the most important thing is to spend quality time together and that is why I strictly have time dedicated only for my

kids. I hope that they will learn from me, that you have to follow your dreams, do what you like to do and be honest with yourself. Q5: What are 3 things you would say to women that opt to become the key decision makers in their company in order to succeed? 1. Just do it, I think most great things happen only because we are not afraid to pursue them. Enjoy the work, the process of what we do, and there should be a target that you keep in mind, while never forgetting to enjoy the process. 2. Don’t take emotional decisions, always think twice. Emotions are your enemy. 3. The most important, allocation of the work load. There are so many people around me, who do things much better than I, and I trust them. Surround yourself with people you can trust and who are experts and professionals in the field you are going to enter and you will have the key to success. Don’t take all the decisions alone and based on only your experience. Q6: Tell us 5 things that annoy you in a person and 5 characteristics you would love for a person to have There isn’t anything that can annoy me in other people, we are all so different and that is why people get annoyed, because we have different values. With GOLD EDITION • 15

time though, and self-control, especially if I have to deal with so many different people daily, controlling my emotions comes naturally. First of all, I have to be honest with myself, and it is not always pleasant to look inside yourself and realise that the only person which annoys me, is me. And of course, I love people with a good sense of humourthat are creative, adventurous, and brave. People that are disciplined and humble, have selfrespect and can be self-ironic. Q7: When did you choose to follow a vegan nutrition diet and why? I am actually following a Ketogenic diet, already for a long time, which is totally opposite of a vegan diet. I eat a lot of meat, fish, sea food and eggs, so the only things I avoid are sugar, milk and grains, and I strongly believe that the most important thing in keeping our body fit is to give it the right food. Q8: Which is your favourite hobby? I have a few, my favourite ones are writing, painting and tasting wine, a short answer this time. Q9: What innovative ideas would you like to see in our industry? I would appreciate if somebody would create an application, which would be collecting my ideas daily and would be able to make fast calculations of investment and give a clear result, something like “make it happen or leave it”. But if serious, I think that daily innovations are happening in the world, and it all depends on us and how brave we are in integrating them in our business. Nowadays, we have to evolve and be brave, if not, then there is no progress and everyone can take your place the very next day. Q10: A very trustworthy source told us that you like art, tell us more about that. Who is your favourite artist and what is art to you? For me art is self-expression. I love painting and in a way it’s a meditation process for me, where I can release my emotions. I am obsessed with provocative art, more abstraction and modern. Why I love art? Because I admire the dare to do it. My favourite artist and mentor for inspiration is Russian Swiss painter Marianne von Werefkin. A few other brilliant artists that I love and whose work touches my soul deeply are Edward Munch, Francis Bacon, Wassily Kandisky, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Johannen Itten who gave me knowledge about colours and I have to admit that Marianna Abromovich, is a great artist provocateur.

Q11: Apart from amazing dance moves and the confidence of a queen, what other talents would you say you have? If these are my talents then I’m very happy about that, but I think that only with talent you cannot do anything, there should also be a strong character that puts in all the work in order to develop and discipline. Maybe my talent is being very selfrigorous. Q12: Which is your favourite city to live in and why? I didn’t choose one yet, I have many places I like to go back to and stay for a longer time, one of them is Berlin, it’s so modern, multicultural and well organised. Beautiful Paris with amazing history and so chic. Rome, because of my Italian blood, Dubai, Singapore. The more I explore Asia, the more willing I am to return back there. Travelling is my passion, and so my favourite city to live in remains a mystery, as home is where my heart is. Q13: Which is your spirit animal? I would say tiger, very wild, unpredictable, spontaneous and in case of danger aggressive and protective. Q14: Who is your favourite designer in clothes, shoes and bags? Indeed yes, there are a few favourite ones, as for me comfort and quality are very important. I am always very loyal to brands I fall in love with. One of my obsessions are shoes, I have a huge collection. But probably best I don’t give more information on this. Q15: You have attended both Partners In Excellence electronics networking conventions in 2017 and 2018, what are your views and feedback? I found both of the events very useful and very good for the business. It’s a great opportunity to meet all the decision makers together and discuss market potential and find the best way to cooperate. Sometimes you only need a small talk to bring in more business for your company. It’s all about communication, reputation and honesty. And of course the most important is to have somebody charismatic who can make this event happen, and bring us all together. Very well organised events and outstanding parties as well.

“ Set some goals. Stay quiet about them. Smash the hell out of them. Clap for your damn self.” A quote which best describes Mr. Musleh, director of BM Electronics, after hearing all about his weekly routine. He is one of the most down-toearth people you will ever meet and that is why he is so well liked by those around him.

Mr. MuslehMuslihiddin Like all great men, he keeps his priorities in order by making sure to spend his days off with family and "by starting each day with a big family breakfast" "I have a big family and I try to keep them together”, he explained as he went on to say that for him this is a “must” start of his day.

Being a pro-active leader with good control, he has regular meetings with this staff so he is constantly updated, “ I try to be online all the time, as now you can see a lot of competitors in the market, especially in Dubai. You have to be awake all the time as if you “sleep” for a little bit, you may end up losing a lot.”

Similar to all workaholic leaders with goals, Mr. Musleh spends the larger part of his day at the office with the exception of lunch breaks with his colleagues. As per our understanding, he is the kind of boss that gets hands on personally when it comes to his business while listening to the feedback of his team. In his interview, he kept referring to his people as “colleagues” instead of employees, which in our opinion is a great asset for a boss to have.

Furthermore, Mr. Musleh is very keen on selfimprovement, as he said “I think you have to keep working on improving yourself daily, as that is how you get to be better in everything”. By attending language, marketing and religious lessons he keeps his spiritual growth in tact as he is a firm believer that through religion “you find out who you are, why you are alive, who you used to be and where you are heading towards”.

Regardless of his long office hours, he regularly visits the company’s mobile retail shop in Deira, the most competitive and crowded market in Dubai. “I usually spend a couple of hours there in order to meet with the end user customers personally so I can further study and feel the market, which is where I get all my information from”. While Mr. Musleh takes into consideration the market information he gets from his team, he prefers to hear it right from the end user customers themselves as he believes that by doing so he gets the “real information”.

He is also a fun of sports, whether it’s a friendly football match on Thursdays, or boxing at the gym, he makes sure to keep active as in his mind people should keep doing sports throughout their lives as it’s essential in keeping vigilant in their life and work respectively. As mundane as it may seem, Mr. Musleh is all about spending quality time with those close to him in his free time by having dinner in a nice restaurant, watching a movie or playing video games with them, he might not be the most loyal clubber but he is for sure a very loyal friend. Mr. MuslehMuslihiddin 101

Mr. Musleh Muslihiddin might come off as a bit shy, by nature he is a down-to-earth-person regardless of all the things he has established so early in his life. Don’t let his shyness fool you though, there is a lot more than what meets the eye when it comes to Mr. Musleh! When the news hit us that he was willing to have a more personal interview for the Partners In Excellence Gold Edition we were thrilled as we are now able to give you some insight on this man of few words.

Q1: Mr. Musleh, we know that you are manufacturing your own mobile devices, which phone do you use in your daily life though? In today’s global smartphone market, two brands are leading – Samsung and Apple, thus, I have devices of each brand respectively so I can study any new additions or edits they are making in their premium models. Due to the fact that I want to make a difference in the market, I need to study what those phones are 20 • GOLD EDITION

Well, personally I like trying extraordinary activities and face dangerous challenges like skydiving, shooting guns and driving fast cars and motorbikes . In the near future don’t be surprised when you see a picture of me flying a helicopter.

missing, so I can include it in my MDC mobile - which I also use in my daily life as well, for example battery life or the price difference factor while still keeping the same high quality. Q2: Do you have any hobbies? I don’t restrain myself to one particular hobby, I am a big fan of sports. Unfortunately, I cannot find the particular time for it but as soon as I have a chance, I rush to exercise, play football, ride horses and so on. Additionally, I love travelling as it gives me the opportunity to learn and experience other cultures, and their lifestyle. Q3: Which is your favourite city to live in and why? There is no place like home, home is where you grow up, where your friends are and where your motherland is. Though I have been living in Dubai for the last four years, I miss Uzbekistan. But if I had to choose a place to live that was not my birthplace then I would certainly prefer living in Mecca or Madinah as I am Muslim and those cities are the heart of Islam for me. Q4: Our sources tell us that you actually love sky-diving – would you say that in general you like to live a bit on edge?

Q5: Which animal would make the best type of president if the animal kingdom ever rises up and takes over? Undoubtedly, the lion is the king of the jungle. However, as he is wild he will most likely oppress the weaker animals once he becomes the president. Therefore, I would like to draw your attention to something else. Yes, it might be almost invisible, small or weak but when you study its life you will change your mind about it: they have very strong teamwork, they are able to handle and carry things that are 10 - 50 times their body weight, and protect their family from the bigger enemies till their death. You will be shocked when you find out how passionately they follow their leaders. The animal I am talking about - ants!

Q8: Based on your visit and stay in Greece, did you feel that the critical image the media is projecting about Greece is true? Or did you feel otherwise? I have a very positive impression from Greece. Before arriving to the hotel I had a city tour across Athens. The city was amazing and so was the weather. Q9: If you had three wishes from a non-tricky genie, what would you wish for? Honestly I do not believe in tricks. If I need anything, I always ask God. Regarding the 3 wishes: I pray for God to give conscience to the world leaders. If the world leaders behave nicely and do not oppress the common people, then everyone would live happily. If my first wish is granted, then there will be no need for the other two wishes. The reasoning behind my answer is that everyone is a leader in his/her life – leader of a family, a city mayor, manager of a community. Just think about it, if leaders didn’t take advantage of their power, the world would be a better place. Q6: Everyone has a good app idea. What’s yours? Creativity is not really what I am known for but in the era we live in now, almost all the ideas end up being copies of someone else’s idea that was created years ago! Q7: Which is your worst and which your best quality as a person? The best people to ask this question and get a correct answer is my family or company members, they can be more objective. No one is 100% perfect, and no one is 100% bad everyone has advantages and disadvantages. I always try to utilize my strong points and conceal my weaker ones. If I tell you now my disadvantages, everyone will know them and if I tell my advantages it might come out as pride.

Q10: Tell us 5 good qualities you look for in a person and 5 qualities you dislike when a person has. Good- Honesty, respect, faithfulness, keeping promises and being trustworthy. Bad - Oppressive, lying, ignoring people, denying peoples’ rights and irreligiousness. Q11: Which genre of music do you like and which you cannot stand listening to? I don’t really listen to music, if any background music plays in the restaurants or in the car I may listen to it but I do not search for any specifically music. I prefer listening to the lectures. Q12: What are you most grateful for in your life? I am thankful to God for giving me everything I have in my life – either in presence or in shortage. I am thankful for every success I’ve had until this moment and if any of my goals have not yet been achieved, it means it was not the right time. God knows better than us when is the right time to achieve what. I have no regrets nor complains, my family and I live happily and in peace – what else could one ask for? Q13: Who is the first person you call when you’re in trouble?

In my opinion, if you face any kind of problem you should contact the one who is capable of solving it. Who can solve any problem? God. Therefore, in any kind of circumstances I firstly appeal to God. It doesn’t mean he will come to help you himself, but he will make solving the issue easier, maybe by meeting someone who is able solve it. In a nutshell, I first appeal to God, then depending on the nature of the problem I contact the people close to me, family will always be there to support you. Q14: Where do you think you will be 10 years from now? I have very big dreams and goals that may sound funny to you. Hence, let my dreams be with me. I certainly want this company to be among the world leading companies, while i keep on working towards making my other dreams come true. As I mentioned above, the world needs good leaders..... Q15: Tell us a bit about your education background. Due to some reasons I did not have the chance to study. I have studied till my 7th grade only as later I could not go to any institute or college. However I highly recommend others to study – as there is a huge difference between educated and uneducated people. GOLD EDITION • 21

We've got you covered with these completely true facts you can use to spice up your small talk. It is within the human nature to be curious, flawed or not, we are curious people and we just had to know!

#I’M TERRIBLE AT MAKING POPCORN Most common than not, when building a business relation with some of the leaders of the industry you do not always get the chance to know them on a more personal level. Despite them being some of the most documented people of the industry there are still some things that not a lot of people know about them.

Are you ready to be “in-the-know”? “I have the best ideas while in the shower.” Mr. Yusuf Karatas, CEO of Yukatel

“If you want to make money, real money, think big! You will never catch a big fish in a small lake.” Mr. Daniel Stefanescu, owner of SC GersimImpex

“I am an excellent chef.” Mr. Adnan Celik, chairman of Jupiter GSM

“I hate feeling sad.” Reda Abd El Aziz, Managing Director of Neopolis General Trading

“I can party all night and I don’t even drink.” Mr. Bekzod Akmalkhonov, owner of Amir Group FZCO

“ I always drive fast!” Mr. Fred Sorensen, owner of Total Import Solutions

“Even though people think I am the softest and nicest guy, what they don’t know is that I actually get angry quite often“ Mr. Evan Vidos, commercial director of Electroholic and Infoworx

“I am a fitness freak and I remain fit with little or no workout :)” Mr. SaravananNatesan, Managing Director of Fast Track PTE

“ I hate driving, I don’t even do it anymore” Mr. Sam Nasr, Manager of Z Empire Investments Ltd

The life and dreams of

Mr. Lukasz Smyk Mr. Lukasz Smyk was born in Wroclaw, Poland and since then has been working tirelessly towards achieving his goals. During his childhood the most influential person for him was his father. As a teenager he joined a sports Academy back home where he soon became famous for his multiple wins as a professional mountain climber both in polish but also in international championships. Looking back though, Mr. Lukasz says he would have chosen a different path of education which would either lead him to studying economics or concentrate on building his business altogether as he was already trading at that age. He has always been his own man and he does not shy away from admitting that he loves his job as CEO of Parktel. From the early stages of his professional career he was influenced by great leaders such as Warren Buffet, American business magnate, investor, and philanthropist who serves as the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, another influence was Robert Kiyosaki – American businessman and author as well as founder of the Rich Dad Company, a private financial education company that provides personal finance and business education to people through books and videos. Lastly, a huge inspiration has always been Steve Jobs who is mostly known for his career as chairman, chief executive officer, and a co-founder of Apple Inc. 26 • GOLD EDITION

Although Mr. Smyk maintains a privacy vail over his family of three, he was proud to say that his first love and high school sweetheart soon became his wife of 11 years. He wishes to have been born 20 years earlier than he did as that was the time communism fell in Poland and people were beginning to build their own businesses. He explains that back then it was a lot easier for companies to become big and gives reference of companies dealing in electronics and located in Poland who are now in the stock market. One of his dreams is for Parktel to be amongst these companies but acknowledges the increase of difficulty in achieving this now, than what it was back then.

His definition of happiness is “peace of mind, happiness is being able to sit with my family and friends at a nice restaurant and being able to enjoy the evening.â€? His most memorable trip was the first time he flew to New York City as it was also his first attempt in trading iPhones back in 2008. He hopes to be remembered as a hardworking, happy and friendly man and his biggest fans are his two daughters. In his spare time you will find him meeting up with friends, reading books, catching a movie or indulging in a good old car race. The super powers he wishes to possess are those of Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman! His greatest hope is to see Parktel advance to the level that he wants it to be so he can then feel secure that he will be able to care for his family up until his last days. GOLD EDITION • 27

220 volt – Mr. Palinka! 220volt Magyarország Kft. or 220volt for short was founded in 2005 with its base in Hungary. With three stores operating in key locations of Budapest as well as an online shop, 220volt deals in audio-visual equipment, gaming consoles, mobiles phones and so much more. Mr. Peter Besenyi also known as Mr. Palinka, founder of 220volt explained in a rather patriotic way the story of Hungary’s traditional fruit brandy, Palinka, during the Partners In Excellence convention 2018 as he offered it to the guests along with some other local delicacies. A great addition to the opening party as here at Z Empire we always encourage initiatives!

INTERVIEW Q1: Mr. Besenyi, what triggered the idea of offering Palinka shots during the first night of the convention? I am proud to be Hungarian since I live in a beautiful country. My intention was to deliver something unique from Hungary for my potential business partners. We come from different countries but we have something in common, this is why we do business with each other. But apart from this, we should never forget that first of all we are human beings so I wanted to convert my appearance into a more personal level by presenting something that brings Hungary closer to those who trust me enough to deal with me. GOLD EDITION • 29

Q2: What is the thing you have achieved in your life that you are most proud of?

Q7: What are the things that you are interested in?

My two sons, no doubt about this! :)

Let me answer in alphabetical order so that I do not express the order of importance. • Adventure • Barbecue • Family and children • Music (classical and jazz) • Palinka • Sports cars • Travel

Q3: Do you also trade beverages or only electronic products? If not, did you ever consider doing so? I have a tobacco shop in the center of my home town where we also offer 220 different chilled beers. I run my 220volt business in Budapest, but operating the tobacco shop in my home town is just a way to serve local people. Q4: When did you decide to join the electronics industry and why did you choose this industry over others? I started to deal with electronics products while I was a university student. They did not have to be advertised since they were well known products. The only thing you had to do was offer more completitive prices than those your competitors did. In the beginning I was competitive since I had no shop and I sold products on the street. Since I became successful, I needed to take my business to the next level and thus, I founded 220volt in 2005 and started to hire employees. Q5: Do you have any plans of expanding your chain of stores in other countries as well? If yes, which countries? We already operate 7 shops in 4 countries and our future plan is to open a shop in Austria. Q6: What are you most curious about in life? I wonder how it would feel like to have a daughter. And I hope my wife reads this article… ;)

Q8: Which products would you say sell faster in your shops and why do you think that is? We are the leaders in Hungary of selling DSLR cameras but we also sell Iphones in huge numbers. The reason behind it is that we have a good image and our customers not only trust us but enjoy visiting our stores for their shopping. Q9: Based on your experience at the Partners In Excellence 2018 networking convention would you suggest to other companies to attend? Absolutely! I had a lot of fun there. And if even more people come, the more iPhones I can sell and the more Palinkas I can serve. :)

Who is Oliver Schulte?

I mean, he is the CEO of RugGear but who is Oliver really? This article takes a more personal approach as to who he is when he is not busy out there building an empire, so you can as well get to know the man behind the CEO. 32 • GOLD EDITION

Q1: Who is someone you admire, and why? There are quite a few. Albert Einstein would be one of them; I am a very analytical person and he is just miles ahead. Another one was one of my line managers at Siemens. He mentored me and I have learned so much from him from i.e. let good employees go to get good employees, aim to truly create win - win situations and follow your passion. Q2: What’s a typical day like for you? There is no typical day; that is what is getting me out of bed every day. I like to understand the needs of my partners from suppliers to customers. I really want to build a partnership model. Creating a win- win situation is what makes me smile. We can make it happen! Q3: Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about? Good one; I truly believe as a leader you need to work on the 5 P’s (Product, Price, Place, People and Promotion) and lately I believe there should be a 6th one for “Partner”. I think I have achieved a lot with trying to stay as open minded as possible. At HTC I had over 20 different nationalities in my team and I learned that there are a lot of different ways to go to Rome and that to reach the goal is what really matters. Q4: If you could be anywhere other than here, right this minute, where would you be? (Don’t overthink it!) Cyprus; I need to visit you guys :). Have not seen the beach and the beauty of the country. Q5: Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up? Honestly at 10 I enjoyed being a kid; playing with the guys in the neighbourhood not worrying about anything else. Q6: If we went to happy hour, what would you order? A Caipirinha; loads of good memories or no memories at all… Q7: Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me... on the terrace having a coffee and enjoying. Q8: How do you want people to remember you? OS: A man, a word, a friend. GOLD EDITION • 33

Q9: What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job? Do the talk and the walk. Life is too short not to capture the opportunity and it’s all about teamwork. I have worked in the US, Europe and Asia and it is important to understand the nuances. Q10: Name three words that describe you. Straightforward, team player, a friend. Q11: How do you think your colleagues would describe you? They would probably use the word “Bulldozer” (or should I say Caterpillar as I ran that business) I want to get the job done and make things happen. Q12: What do you want to make sure you do before you die? Hopefully decades to go; a have a long bucket list… Q13: What’s a goal you have for yourself that you want to accomplish in the next year? Let’s make it happen together. Q14: Name a few of your daily habits (other than a shower and brushing your teeth).

Having one or the other coffee; spending too much time on the phone, trying to get more fit and I need to push myself more on that one… Q15: What publications do you regularly read? Spiegel; yeah never lost that German part. FT Q16: What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working? Quality time with friends and family Q17: What are some causes you care about? I did my civil service in Germany in a place for socially disadvantaged children; it was quite eye opening what happens around the next corner. I am trying to keep an open eye and help where I can to causes close to me. Also I support some startups as I believe these will create opportunities for people. Q18: What do you do with friends in your spare time? Keep it easy and chill. Q19: What would be your personal motto? Carpe diem! (seize the day, the moment).

Its exhibition time, make sure to pack the rain coats, the thousand layers of warm clothes, food from home and a comfortable pair of shoes. Don’t forget to prepare yourself mentally, it is probably going to be rainy not just cold and don’t let me get started on the endless taxi routes, and the waiting! Be sure to leave some space in the bag for the hundreds of business cards you will return home with but won’t actually use, they are meant to fill up the cupboard in the office that nobody knows how to decorate right! Good to see you guys again, but does it have to be here? P.S: Your words, not ours!

Oh my God! Bring on the sunshine, put away the overcoats! Elegant suits and a smile match perfectly with the sunny weather. Oh yes, the entire exhibition hall is located literally on the beach! Maybe I should take the family as well! Manufacturers? Check. Distributors? Check. Operators? Check. Retailers? Check. Traders? Check. Let’s not forget it is all digital, so no need to pack up the business cards, they are already on my phone! Now I just need to prepare my speech so I impress the other companies there. Great to see you guys again, of course and I will have a booth this time! P.S: Our gift to the industry!

2 days, 2 managers, 2 sides of the same coin 40 • GOLD EDITION

When I was a little kid, I always admired people who were “managers”. No matter what sort of manager he or she was, I was always into becoming one. Growing older, I soon realized that most people hate managers – even the ones that pretend to love them the most. However, there are always exceptions to the rules. And this article is going to prove you that the manager’s point of view is way more frustrating than the employee’s one.

The conversation started with the basics, getting to know each other. Evan Vidos is the Commercial Director of Infoworx LTD which is operating in all five continents. As we speak, he is probably talking on his phone, but that’s another story. If you ask his colleagues they will probably tell you that he is the most trustworthy, sincere, polite, and concrete but sort of quicktempered person on earth. If you ask his wife, though, she will tell you that he is the perfect guy, way more polite than he should be and workaholic to the bone. Who is closer to the right answer? If you spend a weekend with Mr. Vidos and his wife you will soon realize that both sides are absolutely right. But what about his wife? If you meet them separately, you will bet your salary that these two would never be together. If you meet them together, you will be jealous of the kind of love they share for each other. Two completely different persons sharing the same life. Two perfectly contradictory characters that when seen together they look like the incarnation of one another. A manager herself, Nafsika Bourma, can accurately be described as a workaholic as well, but in a way that she manages to fit everything she needs in her life, to make her days as bright as they can be. Dedicated to sharing this awe for “seizing the moment” with Mr. Vidos, when not at the office, her plans definitely exceed the 48-hour limit of a weekend. And here it begins… Before even waking up on a Saturday morning – usually by Mr. Vidos’ phone ringtone, “love, I’m sorry, it’s a call from Dubai” – she has made plans for the entire weekend. It’s summertime so the plans always include a couple of hours, or maybe more, per day on the beach. Match point! Will he answer the 10th work related call while on the beach? It’s always a “yes” and she is always upset. But it’s fine! She can handle anything when at the beach. He is struggling with his laptop and phone at the same time while she is putting on the water suit. Lunch plans? They are going to discuss this one for, at least, half an hour. You know.. This kind of “conversations” for the place, the menu, the location and so on. Lunch is over and her majesty wants to rest before the next meal. Or maybe, not. She has a major idea. Let’s go shopping. “You have meetings all day and I work in the fashion industry. We can’t wear the same clothes every day”. Yes, she has nothing to wear and he hates shopping. It sounds familiar, doesn’t it? But who would say yes to four hours of mumbling instead of two hours of shopping? No one! And here we go. They went shopping and now heading back home. She is happy. He is exhausted. His phone has run out of battery and he cannot talk for the 20th time with one of his suppliers. That’s a manager’s frustration in the electronics industry. Polka dots are back in fashion and I have to make sure that we promote it properly. That’s the frustration of a manager in the fashion industry. He wants to make the world a more convenient place. She wants to make the world a more beautiful place. You are jealous of her, aren’t you? GOLD EDITION • 41

The article you just cannot refuse! The electronics industry through the eyes of Mr. Jonathan Afrman When I think about our industry, “home” is the first word that comes into mind, after all I spend so many hours in the office, sometimes more than in my actual house! My wife suspects that I have an affair, but you know what!? I do have one… what can I do?? You caught me honey… The truth is that it looks really bad when my phone rings at all kinds of hours around the clock from people that always WTS (want to sell) or WTB (want to buy) something. Between WhatsApp, Skype, WeChat and all the good things that social network has to offer us there is no doubt that some offers I will simply not be able to refuse… Between sir, Boss, Dear, My friend and Bro and whatever else will be trending in a while, there is no other place I would rather be, because in the end, where your heart is, there is your family also. After almost 15 years in the industry I am still learning everyday something new, meeting with new people globally and always finding something exciting to do. I am without a doubt blessed to be part of the mobile industry. I made a lot of friends, built relations and even had the privilege to add few special people in my global family. Today being Vice president of the biggest distributor in Israel means that hard work, determination and believing that everything is possible is the path to success. I am Jonathan Afrman and I LOVE my job… But NOT more than my wife (my wife told me to write that) or my KIDS of course (Daddy loves you girls). Be part of my family and make me an offer I can't refuse… 44 • GOLD EDITION

Did you know your iPhone could do that? According to the most recent estimates the current world population as of June 2018 is 7.6 Billion people! Did you know that the approximate sales of iPhone devices until today have reached 1 billion? That means that approximately 8-9% of the world’s population is using an iPhone. What I bet my iPhone on though, is that you did not know that by tapping here, or clicking there your iPhone experience gets even better!

Tip Number 1:

Need to charge your iPhone fast because you are stuck at an exhibition or running for a very important business meeting and the charging percentage seems to be frustratingly stuck at 10%? Switch to Airplane mode! You are welcome

Tip Number 2:

Discover Exactly what your phone knows about you. Alarming enough, your iPhone is always gathering data on you in the background - be it the apps you're using the most, how much data you're burning through... or even, most creepily, where you are. To see what we mean, head to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Frequent Locations. Here you can see not just where you've been, but how long you've spent in each place. Big Brother really is watching...

Tip Number 3:

Set your music on a timer, unless you enjoy waking up around 2 am to a screaming solo of Ozzy Osbourne – that is unless you actually intent to! In the Clock app, slide along to the Timer options. Here under the 'When Time Ends' tag, you can switch out the alarm option for a 'Stop Playing' tag. This will turn off the tunes, be it through Apple Music or Spotify, when the timer hits zero.

Tip Number 4:

Tip Number 6:

Shake it off! Deal gone wrong, supplier or customer is really getting on your nerves and you suddenly find yourself typing away crazily, but wait, did they just write “confirm?” Not to worry, you don’t have to press backspase to get rid of all that book you wrote, just shake your phone a bit and a pop will appear asking you if you want to “undo” your most recent activity, in this case better press “undo”.

Tip Number 7:

Improve your battery life! You know you want to. Spotlight, Apple's connected quick-access for key data and services, is great for offering instant access to the latest breaking news, sports scores and social update. But that much stuff going on in the background can eat your battery life whole, unless you turn off Spotlight features for certain apps to save more life per charge, that is. Just go Settings > General > Spotlight Search and limit what's pulling in data behind your back.

take a photo whilst shooting video. You've undoubtedly encountered incidents when shooting video where you really want to take a snap as well. Thankfully, the iPhone allows you to do both at the same time. All you need to do is press the shutter button which appears next to the video button. The photo is taken by the video camera's sensors, so it won't turn out quite as awe-inspiring as your usual images, but it's handy nonetheless.

Tip Number 5:

Tip Number 8:

You need to close that deal and you are on the move, suddenly your data just doesn’t seem to cooperate! No need to hang out of a first floor window trying to discover where your iPhone's connection is best. Type *3001#12345#* into your iPhone's dialler and hit call to launch the hidden Field Mode tool. This sub-surface menu turns your bar chart-based signal indicator into a far more straightforward numericalbased signal signifier. Got a score of -50? Not only you get to close the deal, you'll also be enjoying HD video streams on the move. Down around -120, though, and you'll struggle to send a text. It’s all about the numbers really.

Siri I love you, said no-one ever! But wait, this time I might actually do. You're out late, you've had a few gin and tonics, and tapping through menus to order an Uber seems like a hassle. Thankfully, Siri allows you to run through the entire process hands-free. Just make sure you've got the Uber app installed, and that you've logged into an account with a valid card attached. Then all you need say is "Siri, get me an Uber", or "Siri, take me home in an Uber X" – ta da!

27 things that great CEOs should install in their daily life routine

“Once you stop learning, you start dying.” Albert Einstein Regardless if you are the CEO of an already successful company or the CEO of a start-up company, there are some common tips for both of you which if you intergrade in your daily life, you will not only take your company further but also yourself. Whatever your choices are, make sure that you are consistent, consistent plays a key role when it comes to being a great CEO.

1.Try one new thing each day.

Get out of your comfort zone, I know it is nice but nothing ever grows there. Like RaajaNemanu, CEO of Bucketfeet (a footwear brand with over 20,000 collaborations with artists in over 100 countries) who got out of his comfort zone and bought a one way ticket to Buenos Aires where he met his partner and Bucketfeet was created.

2. Don't do bad days.

Don't do doubt and don't do bad days. Running a company is really hard, and every day is different, but having a bad day is a choice.

3. Stay informed about what's trending.

Don't this needs to be a title obsesswith This does not mean you need to obsess over media but stay up to date, the core of each industry is influenced by so many factors (economy, politics etc.) stay ahead!

4. Accept invitations to as many meetings and events as possible.

The next time you are invited to an exhibition or a meeting (especially Z Empire’s Partners In Excellence), show up personally and do not just send an employee, you never know who will be there!

5. Experiment constantly.

Keep changing and evolving your company management skills and try out new techniques when it comes to managing or teaching employees, the world moves ahead daily so you cannot be stuck in one place – let your company grow.

6. Fight brain blocks with building blocks.

If your brain is stuck, take a breath, go do a puzzle or play catch (prefer an active break) as that would take your mind off the matter at hand and once back at it you will have a whole new perspective.

7. Never be afraid to email someone who is “too big.”

Big or small suppliers they all have something in common, they need to sell the stock so do not be surprised if they are quite open and welcoming.

8. Make punctuality a priority.

Regardless if you are the CEO of the company and your schedule is crazy busy, make sure to be on time for your meetings, events, happenings. There is nothing better than a CEO who keeps good on his word even on the smallest of things, like showing up on time.

9. Never ask somebody to do something you wouldn't do yourself.

Lead from the front, do not show your employees that once a boring task comes up you roll up your sleeves and pass it to them, trust me they will be very bored doing it as well. Instead, show them how it is done, that no task no matter how insignificant it could be is ever boring. You can thank us later.

10. Watch YouTube to learn from other great leaders.

You can actually do this while working really, if the speaker says something that sounds interesting to you, it will automatically draw your attention to what he has to say. Do not be afraid to learn from someone who has already “done it” or someone who is better than you at something. P.S: Don’t forget to follow our Youtube channel as well!

11. Exercise and meditate.

Healthy mind, healthy body, healthy life. Keep active it really does help you work better and faster.

12. Start each day with an infectious\positive attitude.

Kick start the day full of optimism, it is infectious and everyone wants to work in an office environment where everyone is just plain positive.

13. Make time for everyone on your team, no matter where they are.

Make sure you know the members of your team individually, know their names and some key things about them. Your employees will feel important and give you back that importance, try it and see how everything changes in a positive way.

14. Make the most of drive time.

Start your working hours from the time you get in the car, bus or train. There is no time to be wasted in long commutes and it will also help you arriving to office ready to get to work!

15. Make every meeting the second meeting.

Go to your meetings prepared, regardless if your reflexes compete well with those of superman a good research goes a long way and just like that no first meeting feels like the first meeting.

16. Surround yourself with people whose skills complement your own.

Come on, admit that at least once a day you feel that the old saying “it takes a village is so true! As a leader, it is understandable to feel that you need to know and do everything but you can never be the best at everything. Surround yourself with people more capable than you at something and watch your company grow.

17. Walk before bed.

Get those headphones ready, put on your favourite music, start walking and tune everything out. Even the CEO deserves some good night sleep so make sure you get some by clearing your head before going to bed..

18. Make time in your life for fiction.

It encourages your imagination, gives your mind a breather, and enables you to use new tactics on creating motivating, inspiring messaging. Don't be afraid to take time out to free your mind from the strictures of reality.

19. Focus on nutrition and appreciation.

Following a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy has been proven to help to reduce your risk of heart disease by maintaining blood pressure and cholesterol levels. High blood pressure and cholesterol can be a symptom of too much salt and saturated fats in your diet. You need to keep healthy so you stick around for as long as possible.

20. Leave your work out of the bedroom.

Think of it as your sanctuary, efficiently shutting out work, electronics (yes even the TV) from your bedroom has been proven to decrease stress levels which actually makes your office work more effective!

21. Use pictorial language to help people "see" the future.

“A picture is worth a thousand words”. If you are talking about the future you cannot provide your team with facts and figures so you can only rely on your skill in making others “see” the future that you envisioned. Your language should include metaphors and analogies in order to bridge the gap of present to future.

22. Exercise every day.

We cannot stress on this enough, exercising daily changes your entire mentality!

23. Don’t panic and don’t run.

Do not shy away from an angry customer or a frustrated supplier, it is something that your team has to deal with daily so show them that you understand and that you do not coward away from confrontation. In the process, your employees actually learn a great deal from your reactions in this kind of situations.

24. Make lists.

In addition to making a list of the top three things that must get done each day, make a list of the three things that must be achieved each month and each week to ensure the company is staying on track.

25. Encourage questions.

Provide opportunity for at least one employee every day to ask you questions about whatever they have on their mind. It is very important to make employees feel like no question is out of limits. It is often that such session help get the pulse of the company. It also becomes a forum for sharing ideas and discovering new ways of thinking or solving problems.

26. Talk to at least one customer every day.

It's by far the most efficient and productive way to gather feedback on [the company] and to understand the business more deeply.

27. Start your day with a clean inbox.

Make sure you go through your inbox well before you reach the office and the first meetings are due. Whatever can be answered in a short email or diverted to a member of your team needs to be done then and there. As for emails that require a lot of time then you can concentrate on them once the morning meetings are done so you can also be concentrated there as well. GOLD EDITION • 51

“Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and in the end, the Germans win.” Gary Lineker Do they Mr. Lineker? Surprised or not surprised the winning team of the Partners In Excellence was team Middle East! After winning the semi-finals during the penalty scores against the American team, our Middle Eastern friends got the opening to the final which they won with a striking 5-0 against the European team!

Among others, Mr. Tahsin Bulun, Mr. Lennaert Akkermans, Mr. Ahmed Gerar, Mr. Enis Ramadanovski, Mr. Reda Abd El Aziz, the entire XTG team were our industry’s finest football players and they could not help but shine on the pitch. 52 • GOLD EDITION

All team members pledged allegiance to their team mates which marks no transfers to other teams and an unbeatable brotherly spirit among them. ''The idea of joining a football tournament whose players are in the field of consumer electronics was extremely interesting and the main reason we joined was to get to know the people behind the companies: the people we do business with on a daily basis. This interactive experience contributed to building new and stronger relations between the people, who normally connect global businesses with each other. This event was a real game changer, which we really enjoyed.'' Lennaert Akkermans, CEO of Central Point Europe “Winning always feels good. Yes, in Greece we didn't play for winning, it was more for enjoying and fun. The idea of organizing the football tournament was awesome though. To be honest, after the football tournament I came closer to my team mates and yes, I knew them from before, but during the tournament, we became closer and I saw how they are in real life. Z Empire did a good job with organizing the awards ceremony and included awards for “the best football player”, “the best goal” and so on as it gave more motivation to the players. I think Z Empire was right in choosing football as it is full of emotion. Other sports are also fun, but with football it is different. I hope Z Empire will continue organizing these tournaments so that our team will continue winning :)” Musleh Muslihiddin, CEO of BM Electronics.

“I enjoyed the whole event, the trip, the meetings and the hotel itself. As for my football team they were great team players and in general it was perfect for sure attending next year as well. ” NecatCelik, owner of Rixos Mobile Phones The participation of delegates in the football tournament was exceptionally high, something which can only be rewarded with the continuation of the Z Empire football tournaments and who knows, maybe next year you will find yourself scoring a goal with an assist from a famous football player!
