Hello, from the beautiful Sebago Lakes Region. As president of the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, I wish to invite you to enjoy our lovely area, filled with mountains, lakes and activities for all ages. Our chamber is made up of 8 towns, 292 members and is growing every day. Our chamber participates in many events throughout the year. Events include Member Outreach week in May when we visit our members individually to thank them for being a part of our organization; the popular Golf Ball Drop event at Windham Summerfest and Golf Open both in June; the Sebago Spirits Festival in September where attendees can taste the top-notch spirits Maine has to offer; and monthly Business Breaks hosted by area members that give businesses the opportunity to network with other local business owners. You can often find our chamber members also raising money for local food pantries. In February at the Sebago Lake fishing derby, the chamber hosted our annual Polar Dip where fifty participants jumped into the freezing waters of Sebago Lake and helped us raise more than $11,000 for our Feed The Need campaign. In total this past year, we raised more than $25,000 for the eleven local food pantries in our region. Come visit our office at 909A Roosevelt Trail in Windham and pick up brochures and information on our region. Executive Director, Robin Mullins and Office Manager, Denise Dyer, are happy to assist in your vacation planning. Welcome to our beautiful region—I know you’ll enjoy it.

Ice fishing is popular —there’s even a midwinter ice fishing tournament for hearty Ansouls!8-mile long peninsula known as Raymond Neck juts into the lake. From Cape Road there is access to a car ferry (May-October) that services Frye Island, a large island populated with summer camps, a nine-hole public golf course, beaches and Frye’s Leap Café and Store.
. Six towns have shore frontage on Sebago Lake: Windham, Raymond, Casco, Sebago, Standish and Naples. Sebago’s watershed extends from Bethel to Standish and covers 436 square miles. It is a 35-mile drive around the lake via Routes 302, 114 and 35.
ADOBESTOCK
Long Lake, Brandy Pond, Crooked River and the Songo River flow into Sebago Lake and provide 43 miles of continuous waterway for recreation. Outflow is primarily by way of the Presumpscot River, which flows southeast to the Atlantic. Because of the lake’s size, large boats can cruise the waterway but there are also numerous coves and basins for quieter activities like canoeing and kayaking. The lake is known for great fishing through out the year. It’s the home of the land-locked salmon, as well as trout, bass and many others.
The Native American word Sebago means “great stretch of water,” the perfect description of Maine’s second largest lake. Sebago Lake is eight miles wide and ten miles long. Its excellent water quality is the source of drinking water for the city of Portland, which makes the southernmost part of the lake restricted from swimming, although boating is allowed
