Designed for a retired, active couple from California and their extended family, this home reflects their passion for spending quality time with loved ones while also providing a peaceful retreat for relaxation. The couple particularly enjoys unwinding in the upstairs loft, which offers panoramic views of Lake Travis, creating a serene escape with stunning vistas.
Situated near the lake, the home is strategically placed to ensure the upstairs loft takes full advantage of the breathtaking lake views.
The house is divided into three distinct zones: the right side houses the primary suite, the left side is designed as the “hotel” wing for the family, and the central common areas connect both sides. With grown children, the couple desired a layout that provides privacy for each while still allowing the family to come together in shared spaces.
Role
As Project Manager and Designer, Sugey, in collaboration with the Architect, led the entire design process, from initial concept through design development and the preparation of detailed construction documents. With a challenging timeline and strict budget, Sugey successfully managed the project, completing it in just five months and ensuring it was fully prepared for construction. She then worked with the client, builder, and contractors, and coordinated efficiently, the construction progress throughout the ten-month construction.

Design
Nestled on a hill in Westlake, this home boasts panoramic views of downtown Austin from its rear side. The design takes advantage of the steep terrain, with every room positioned to capture natural light and stunning vistas.
From the street, the left side of the house appears as a private and serene structure, with minimal window openings and imposing precast concrete walls that create a sense of seclusion. The exterior design is bold and architectural, with a sense of strength and privacy that contrasts with the openness and light found inside. As you approach the entrance, glimpses of the expansive downtown Austin skyline begin to emerge, offering a subtle preview of the breathtaking views awaiting inside.
Upon entering the home, you are greeted by an impressive two-story common area, where vast expanses of glass walls frame the stunning views and allow natural light to flood the interior. The soaring ceilings and open layout create a sense of grandeur, while the continuous flow of light and visual connection to the outdoors evoke a feeling of openness and serenity. This central space serves as the heart of the home, designed for both family gatherings and quiet moments of reflection, all while offering a direct connection to the vibrant city views that define the home’s unique character.
Role
As Project Manager, Sugey was responsible for overseeing the project from design development through construction documentation and administration. She worked with builders, interior designers, engineers, and contractors to ensure effective coordination across all phases. Sugey managed the transition of design concepts into detailed construction documents and provided ongoing support during construction, working alongside the Architect to ensure the design was executed to the highest standards.

Founded in 2023, BZ Florals brings my passion for design, sustainability, and inclusivity to life through memorable floral experiences. Named in honor of my mother, Bertha Zuniga, and her love of flowers, my husband and I launched BZ Florals as a way to provide accessible and sustainable floral solutions. Inspired during our own wedding planning, we saw firsthand the need for a floral service that balanced beauty with practicality and reduced waste.
Using premium silk florals that are long-lasting, reusable, and eco-friendly, BZ Florals allows us to create immersive event spaces without the waste associated with traditional fresh flowers. These designs are not only visually captivating but also promote environmental responsibility, making floral artistry accessible and sustainable for all.
BZ Florals has quickly become an extension of my personal values—connection, creativity, and authenticity—bridging my architectural background and my passion for floral design. In our first year, we have designed and executed 24 events throughout Austin and nearby areas, from intimate weddings to corporate events. Watching clients and their guests experience spaces uniquely tailored to them, with both beauty and sustainability in mind, is incredibly fulfilling and an exciting expansion of my design journey.
