The Invisible Curriculum

Zamorano’s invisible curriculum provides experiences outside the classroom that have a profound and lasting impact on the students, giving them multiple opportunities to develop their skills and strengthen their values and character.

Discipline, responsibility, integrity and the work ethic are the characteristics demonstrated by our graduates.

These qualities are inculcated in our students through the invisible curriculum during demanding days of classes and work, a code of conduct with emphasis on personal discipline and responsibility towards the community and an environment characterized by order and cleanliness.

A formal component of the invisible curriculum is the Integral Student Life System, which improves our students’ quality of life by organizing dormitories to coordinate extracurricular activities, such as cultural groups and sports teams.

Our students live together in an environment enriched by many different cultures, challenges and experiences, making the campus a home they share with their classmates, who become their lifelong friends. Zamorano promotes the safety and wellbeing of every student during the whole year.

Internships

In addition to the 30 Learning by Doing modules that students participate in during their first three years of studies, internships provide an opportunity for students to do practical hands-on work in the field and in companies.

For 15 weeks at the beginning of their final year, students leave the campus to work in corporations, universities, international research centers and other public and private institutions, where they apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired during the previous three years.

For 70 years, Zamorano has worked for the benefit of young people in Latin America and the world, offering high quality education with the active collaboration of governments, organizations, international agencies, officials, diplomats, businessmen, Zamorano graduates and friends who believe in the University’s mission.

Zamorano is a university dedicated to the formation of high-quality professionals, who will be in the vanguard of research to meet the challenges of the modern world. Part of the support and donations we receive from our partners is targeted at providing financial aid to students of limited resources in our student body, which is made up of young people from 19 countries. The generous support also makes it possible to provide our university campus with the infrastructure and equipment necessary to give our students a high-quality cutting-edge education. Our partners and allies also join our outreach efforts to contribute to the region’s development.

Making their Mark

Our university’s greatest success is providing quality professionals to the field of nutrition and every aspect of the value chain, from production to transformation and marketing with the entire process conducted in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly manner. Many Zamoranos occupy key positions in areas of food production and policy design. Zamorano has graduated to 6,934 men and women from 29 countries.

INTERNATIONAL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION The Zamorano International Alumni Association is the official organization of our university’s graduates. It fosters Panamericanism, solidarity and camaraderie among its members. It also promotes Zamorano and identifies prospective students and funding sources for scholarships, as well as providing professional advice and job placement for new graduates.

There are 15 chapters of the Zamorano Alumni Association in the following countries and continents: Asia-Africa, Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, United States, Europe, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru and the Dominican Republic. The national chapters form part of the Zamorano International Alumni Association, which represents all of them.
