A Family Story Zagas is a company created more than 70 years ago built by the hands and dedication of Gonzaga Barros da Silva in 1948, at the height of the development of Industrial Design in a scenario of reconstruction of a post-war Europe. A family company that knew how to create its path and continues to do so.

Each piece portrays the know-how acquired through the years and a deep understanding of noble materials, aware of the social and environmental commitment assumed by the brand. A new era of design begins with Zagas with exclusive pieces of elegant and contemporary character, raising the knowledge of the furniture world to its maximum exponent.

Zagas’ Chronology

1971 The first furniture collection was created.

On the year that marked its 50th anniversary, the company also started exporting its pieces all over Europe.

1948 Created by its namesake, Gonzaga Barros da Silva was born as a chair and hangers’ manufacturer.

1998

2008 2001

Due to the exponential growth of the company overseas, a new and simpler name for the brand was needed. That is how ZAGAS was born.

2021 Zagas expresses its commitment to sustainability and invests in 300 solar panels to reduce the environmental impact of the production systems. It also launches its first exclusively digital catalogue.

Móveis Gonzaga attends its first tradeshow under the new management.

2018

Oblique Collection Oblique evokes a line that falls through a composition without being vertical or flat and portrays the unmistakable separation between two moments. The metallic base featured in most pieces reflects the contemporary style and elegance the brand is after. With a design marked by an oblique line in all of its furniture pieces and wooden slatted doors, this collection is the starting point to a new era of Zagas’ design.

Bohème Collection The Bohème collection was inspired by the famous Charles Aznavour’s song “La Bohème”, released in 1965, that tells the story of a young painter, during the Belle Époque: a glorification of the artist who suffers for his art.

Just like the song by Aznavour, the Bohème collection is an ode to art and to being inspired by the smallest details.
