Watersports Watersports in Tobago can be as active or relaxing as you wish. Days out on a glass bottomed boat or catamaran provide ample time for sunbathing on deck- but you can also jump in with a snorkel and explore further. Get even closer to the underwater world by scuba diving on one of the 60 established dive sites, or try your hand at stand up paddle boarding, wind or kite surfing. Kayak around coves or mangroves - or book a fishing tour.

Ringed with reefs, Tobago’s underwater rainforests provide days of endless exploration, with snorkel strapped to face, or peering through the goldfish bowl-like glass bottom of a tour boat.

Tobago has some of the Caribbean’s best scuba diving – expert divers will be charmed, and beginners will find this is a wonderful place to start. Stay on top of the water on a stand up paddle board, sea kayak or surf board – and catch the breeze by windsurfing or even kit surfing your way around the shore.

Travelers looking for an exciting way to explore Tobago's picturesque coastline can ride a jet ski, a powerful vehicle that allows tourists to enjoy an adrenaline-filled day at sea.

Tobago's dramatic shore features a wide variety of beautiful landscapes, from dramatic craggy rocks to lush mangroves to secluded bays, Tobago is the hidden paradise you've been searching for. By riding on a jet ski, travelers can experience all that the country's coast has to offer while simultaneously experiencing one of the nation's most exciting activities.

Tourists going on a jet ski expedition frequently begin their day on the beach, where they can rent their vehicle and learn to operate it. Once travelers have grown accustomed to their vessels, they can ride in the open ocean, feeling the wind blowing against their face as they power through the waves. Jet skiers can then navigate their way to calmer waters. While riding on serene rivers and through lively mangroves, travelers can try to catch a glimpse of exotic birds and fish before stopping their vehicle and going for a swim.

What to Wear When going on a jet ski excursion, travelers should wear a swimsuit and bring a towel, as they will get wet. They should also bring sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen, as the sun's rays are often more powerful on the open ocean, meaning that riders run the risk of developing a dangerous sunburn. Tourists riding on a jet ski should also bring a waterproof camera so that they can take pictures of the beautiful scenery and exotic wildlife they may see during their trip.

with: Ricky Campbell The Tobago Plantations Golf Club is the centerpiece of the Tobago Plantations Estate that includes Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort, luxury villas and accommodations in Tobago. The Par-72, 18 hole course has been woven into the landscape of an old coconut plantation. The landscape varies greatly throughout the course with lakes, woodland thickets, beaches, mangroves and wild grass providing each hole with a very distinctive character of true Tobago golf. The course is a good test of the game for golfers of all levels.

The flat terrain of just over 7,000 yards has been sensitively modified to utilize indigenous plants and increase the habitat diversity for wildlife.

There are characteristic pot bunkers sunk into the greensides, and a Par 4 that goes out onto the peninsula to enjoy panoramic views of Scarborough, the capital of Tobago, and the adjacent Atlantic Ocean. All the holes have four tee positions.

The Tobago Plantations Golf Course is PGA designed to Championship standards. It opened in 2001 and was updated in 2013. The course was designed by Bob Hunt and Marcus Blackburn of PGA Golf Management Ltd., the design, development and management arm of the Professional Golfers’ Association of Great Britain and Ireland.Â

Travel Tips 1. BE FLEXIBLE. We always plan for delays and try not to get upset when things inevitably go wrong. Patience is extremely important when traveling!

2. MAKE A LIST. About a week or so before each trip, I make a mental list of items I don’t want to forget — which I WILL forget if I don’t write them down. I’ve learned that when I think of something, I need to write it down.

3. LEARN COMMON PHRASES OF THE LOCAL LANGUAGE. A simple “Please,” “Thank you,” and “I’m sorry” in the local language goes a long way. I also like to learn the word for beer, but that’s just me.

4. DON’T FORGET AN EXTRA CAMERA BATTERY (OR TWO) Have you ever gotten to that epic sunset photo spot and realized your camera battery is dead and you don’t have a back up? I try to bring at least three camera batteries on all of our trips so that we don’t miss out on that perfect shot.

5. ALWAYS BRING A SARONG Sarongs can be used as a wrap when you are cold, a towel, a curtain, or a piece of clothing that can be worn dozens of different ways. Solid colors are great, but if you want something that stands out, I love this sarong.

6. ALWAYS BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE A medical emergency can wipe out your savings — or even worse. We use and trust World Nomads for travel insurance.
