European School of Architecture Since graduating from the Welsh school of architecture I have enrolled at the European school of architecture, a school of architecture that has a focus on teaching students the methodology behind how to produce high end professional renders.

Artificial Intelligence in Architecture As part of my final year project I started exploring the uses of AI in architecture. Using a combination of hand drawn concept sketches with AI to provide an alternative perspective, widenening creativity and challenging workflows.

Hyper-Realistic 1:50 Model A hyper realistic model from my time at the WSA of a 5mx5mx5m area within Coventry City, modelled at a scale of 1:50.

Techniques used include: Hand carving and painting brickwork Pencil\shade work Gloss painting signage and metal Acrylic paint.

This project embraced the concept of my year 3 selected unit “Repair”, taking on the repair and re-adaption of a 5-story retail and office block in Coventry city centre south which became derelict in the early 2010s. Repair is something the city of Coventry has been familiar with for a long time now due it’s extensive history with bombings and the Blitz during WWll. These very bombings allowed for the city to be rebuilt from the ground up by architects Sir Donald Gibson and Arthur Ling, resulting in the city becoming a beacon for very distinctive 1950s-1960s post-modern architecture.

However due to lack of maintenance and the way in which society has progressed many of these post-modern dwellings have become derelict and are perceived as ugly by the public, resulting in a £450 million scheme which plans to demolish all of Coventry city centre south and its historic post-modern architecture.

My scheme is a counter argument to the demolition of Coventry city centre south and a precedent to other alike dwellings of the era within the city that wholescale demolition is not required, and that gentle repair can be more than satisfactory.

Locating the building:

Shelton Square Coventry “A space that never achieved its potential as a place to dwell and became merely a through way from New Union Street to the precincts and market.”

“Even by Coventry’s record of chop-and-change architecture Shelton Square is in a class of its own, it’s seen more revamps than a Hollywood plastic surgeon.” ”Orange pavers in a circle giving the impression of a theatre-in-the round meets suburban semi’s drive, where the performers are mostly a few feral pigeons.”

Coventry City of Culture Coventry, winner of the “city of culture” award, is all about expression and acceptance of cultures through the means of dance, drama, music and food. As part of coventrys’ city of culture, the city has pledged to rehome 120 refugees a year and assist integration into society.

“Light Touch” Section 1 shows the intended uses of the dwelling and how it has been re-adapted in a light touch manner, making gentle changes to the dwelling to ensure the identity of the building is not lost. Light touch methods include using existing materiality, adapted stepped back facades, to repurposing of existing spaces.
