achary’s Story It’s not easy to get someone in the jewelry industry to admit that there is something more precious than diamonds. Diamonds, the hardest naturally occurring substance, are as intricate, beautiful, and complex as the commitments they symbolize. The one thing that is more precious than diamonds... is time. The Zachary’s story started almost 40 years ago with just two men. All these years later, surrounded by dozens of people, Errol and I still marvel at how far we’ve come. Zachary’s may be part of every team member’s story, but they are the Zachary’s story. This idea, this business, this family, has grown into something that’s not measured by the 4C’s. It’s measured in smiles, pride, and giving back. In this, our magazine’s 9th year, we’re embracing family and generations. Within these pages, you’ll meet Catherine, Constance’s mother and a devoted “Yay-Yay” to eight grandchildren. You’ll also see a familiar face that’s been a fixture in our store for 17 years – My niece, Katherine. From lemonade stands to gracing the cover of our magazine, her journey is just beginning. In another nod to time gone by, we’ll share a resurgence of nostalgic jewelry trends from decades ago. As the days and months and years roll on, it’s comforting to know that what we’ve built will continue. Hopefully even longer than myself. Time may be a thief, but it is also an honor. And as I reflect on my life, I’m most proud of the hearts that Zachary’s has touched. And the hearts that have made Zachary’s not only what it is today, but what it will continue to be for precious generations to come.

I have started a hope chest for my niece which holds precious items from my grandmother, mom and myself. With each piece that I place in the chest, I am filled with a sense of pride and love, knowing that these pieces not only hold value but also a deep sentimental worth. When she opens the lid of the hope chest, I hope that she can feel the weight of our family’s history and the love that has been passed on through generations. I hope they will remind her of love that has been passed on to her from all of us. I hope that as she wears and uses these items, they will allow her to pass on the stories and the traditions of all of us to her future family.

CHERYL I wear my grandmother’s tennis bracelet every day and think about her every morning I put it on. I think that’s why I have so carefully chosen pieces from my jewelry collection for each of my girls and future grandchildren. My hope is that one day (a long time from now), they will have the same feeling when they wear their special piece. It feels good to know that something beautiful and near and dear to me will bring a smile to those I love the most in this world. Through that I will live on for generations to come.

ERROL Jewelry often tells a story that becomes part of your legacy. Forty years of jewelry sales and all the stories shared with me by customers, I could write a book. I made an ID bracelet for my youngest son, Brandon, when he was a teenager. He’s now an adult raising his own children, my grandchildren. He was proud to tell me that this bracelet has traveled all over the world with him as he fulfilled his military obligations. I’m positive that he will share the bracelet’s history with his son, Brandon Jr., when he passes it on to him one day. I was pleased and surprised that Brandon still wears this bracelet today.

CADINA My first piece of “real” jewelry came from my sister, Constance, the woman of whom I look up to the most. As long as I know the value, it does not have to be bold and flashy, but a whisper of confidence definitive to me. It is a symbol of my self-worth and that as long as I know it myself, those who see the subtle value will respect it at any capacity.

KATHERINE My first piece of really special jewelry was a gold charm bracelet from my great aunt. All of her favorite things were included as charms which is why it’s so close to my heart.

HANNAH I received my first piece of special jewelry when I was 16. My mom and dad got me a sapphire and diamond ring that I picked out as my “sweet sixteen” gift. My dad has worked at Zachary’s my entire life, and now working at the same place is such an amazing bonding experience.

Fifteen years ago, when Katherine was just two, she was our very first toddler model, advertising our "Little Rocks" story time at Zachary's. I still see that same smile every time I look at her! I think every mom can relate that time goes by too fast. We know, one day, they will be ready to leave the nest and we do what we can to help them navigate the next stages of their lives. Katherine has always been my witty, fun-loving and independent soul. I think she's been ready to fly since she was a little girl! I can't wait to see what the world has in store for her but she's my one and only, so this bittersweet journey leaves me feeling a little sad. By the same token, my heart swells with pride as I watch her grow into a beautiful, strong young woman. I marvel at her determination and sense of self and admire how she explores her own sense of style and individuality. Within the world of jewelry, I love how much she cherishes each piece that's been gifted to her and also how she chooses to reflect her personal style. Our shared love of jewelry intertwines both the past and the future. My love for family is mirrored in my daughters adoration for symbolic heirlooms passed down through generations. A MASTERPIECE IN GOLDSMITHING A true icon of Italian craftsmanship, Marco Bicego designs are inspired by the organic forms of nature and the beauty of 18K yellow gold. After their beloved grandmother, Sandra, passed away, Sarah and Zach Feldmann each received jewelry from her estate. Rather than tucking the pieces away for safe keeping, the siblings decided to keep her close to their hearts through re-imagined designs using her precious gifts. Living in San Francisco, Zach trusted Zachary’s, his mother’s longtime jeweler 3,000 miles away, to help him create the perfect engagement ring. When it came time to design a wedding band, he decided to honor his grandmother by creating beautiful accents using her diamonds for his September nuptials.
