ZHS Track State Champions
The Zachary Girls Track Team won the State Championship during the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Indoor Track at LSU’s Carl Maddox Field House last weekend. The Boys squad was the State Champion runner-up. The Lady Broncos won the meet’s final event, the 4x400-meter relay, to win their third Division I indoors title in four years with 66 points, ahead of 2017 champion Lafayette High (56). While the boys squad finished with 43 points. Notable runs included Zachary sophomore Sean Burrell set a mark in winning the 400 meters in 48.29 seconds. The Zachary girls had a double-winner in Orsciana Beard, who won the triple jump in 37-11 and the 60-meter hurdles in 9.35. Indya Jackson (400) and Kristian Jackson (shot put) were other winners for the ZHS girls. March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month Lane Regional Medical Center

EZ DETECT™ is the most advanced home test available to detect hidden blood in the stool which can be a sign of a problem in your digestive system, such as a growth, or polyp, or cancer in the colon or rectum. The screening kits are for use in the privacy of your own home and are simple to use. Individuals who have a personal or family history of lower intestinal disorders, colorectal cancers, or other cancers should perform this test at least once a year. 2018 Pack the Pantry Gumbo Fundraiser
On Thursday, March 15, friends of the Zachary Food Pantry will once again host their chicken and sausage gumbo fundraiser benefitting the Zachary Food Pantry. The gumbo will be cooked on-site at the City of Zachary Parking Lot, located at 4650 Main Street by Paul Mier of Chris’s Specialty Meats and Cajun Catch, along with his volunteer team. Sales will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. for $5 per take out order. Upon request, orders of 20 or more pre-sale gumbo lunches can be delivered at your designated time. Deliveries must be within the city limits of Zachary. Tickets can be bought in advance at the City of Zachary Utility Payment Office, located at 4650 Main Street. The Zachary Food Pantry volun-
