I’m a new architectural science graduate as of May 2019. I particularly enjoy small residential and other small-scale design projects, but I am also excited to work with larger-scale design projects. I’m creative, open-minded, and hardworking, and I work well both alone and collaboratively. I’m excited to begin my career in architecture.

EVANESCE_LAS VEGAS PAVILION 1000 SCENIC LOOP DR, LAS VEGAS, NV 89161, USA FEBRUARY 2019 | INSTRUCTOR: VINCENT HUI

SOFTWARE: Rhinoceros 5.0, Grasshopper, V-Ray 3.0, AutoCAD 2019, Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC EVANESCE is a viewing tower, to be found along or at the end of hiking trails in the desert of Las Vegas. Hikers are invited to ascend the stairs and gain views towards the surrounding desert and Las Vegas strip in the distance. The pavilion draws inspiration from the barrel cactus of the Mojave desert. Seen in the overall form of the pavilion is a ribbed structure, with a concertina-like paneling system between. Much like the barrel cactus, the structure provides stability as well as selfshading to protect from the harsh conditions of the desert. The panels that make up the facade are a perforated mesh; in conjunction with the overall shape of the pavilion and the oculus above, the facade allows for ventilation to generate a cooling effect within the pavilion.

SOFTWARE: Revit 2019, Rhinoceros 5.0, AutoCAD 2019, Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC The market of the future, caters to both the in-person and digital market. Users are invited to journey through the market, which generates an experience that is not possible to be had whilst shopping online. The market is divided into individually categorized market PODS. The PATHWAYS between the PODS are defined by the angled walls, creating varying PATHWAYS between each POD. Situated under a polycarbonate and structural steel canopy, the market is both indoors and outdoors. Circulation within is continued as an extension of the exterior circulation – the envelope covers, but does not enclose, allowing the market to be independent of the structure.

SOFTWARE: Revit 2018, Rhinoceros 5.0, AutoCAD 2018, Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC The design concept of this distillery divides programmatic elements into different masses which are detached from each other. They become connected through smaller masses that are extruded off of the cross axis. Where the axes meet, vertical circulation is centralized. The cross axis demarcates the entrances into the building, and has a continuous skylight that brings light into the building. The connecting masses that are extruded on the exterior are further accentuated on the interior by changes in floor and ceiling heights, as well as a continuation of exterior materiality that is brought down into the interior. The east side of the building holds the distillery. Vodka and whiskey distillation take place in the connecting masses that branch off of the atrium. On the west side of the building, the connecting masses are accessible to the public and open up visual access through the cross axis to opposite sides of the building. These connecting masses allow one to understand the exterior massing through interior experiences.
