|03/2021-now •Working on cometitions. The types of projects are various such as office buildings, k-12, schools, and mixed buildings. The scales of the projects in China are huge, which also need to be done very fast. I participated three competitions from design phose to SD in 5 months.

•Coming up with concepts with sketching and making physical models was the beginning part. Then, in design phase, making those sketching and physical models in rhino and sketchup, starting modeling, editing over and over. Also, I worked in a team with 3-4 people on one competition, and each of us comes up with several design options. The next step would be producting all 2-D drawings and diagrams. Finally, we produce renderings , brochure, and animations. I participated all the processes.

WORK/ Group work Project Type: Office Tower Year: 2021 Company: DLR Group

The site of Shanghai SIPG building is located at the most developed financial district-Lujiazui, which bordering the Huangpu River and facing the Bund and North Bund across the river, is a window and symbol of the development and opening up of Pudong. The overall coordination is to merge the building with the surrounding buildings, not higher than 100m.

Our concept comes from an artist, whose name is Lucio Fontana. The goal is to break ghrough the two-dimensionality of the traditional picture plane, and bring new energy to a space. What we inspired from him is : open up space, create a new dimension, tie in the cosmos, as it endlessly expands beyond the confining plane of the picture.

INTERN WORK/ Group work Project Type: Museum Year: 2017 Summer Company: Shanghai Jiuyi Architectural Company The museum is at Jiaxing, which is a beautiful town around with rivers and mountains. The site is beside by "Xiuhu," which is a lake with a triangle. Also, the museum is consititued by three parts, which are theater, library and art center. So, we combine those three parts as a unified building, then round the corners of the triangle.

This is a public library, which is a proposal for a new Martin Luther King, Jr.Branch library.

My proposal was to create two systems that intersect with each other. One system is solid and enclosed for quite study rooms, meeting rooms, and auditorium . And another system is an outdoor space covered with light material, and arounded with trees that the system also acrosses the solid enclosed part.

The project is improve current house type. The site is located at St.louis Botanical Heights, which was a neighborhood known for high crime rate and many multi-family buildings. However, with the redevelopment in decades, it has less crime now.. I found that there are three types of houses in the area that distributed in different blocks. Each type has varying relationship of public and private spaces, and connecting to the street, alley and between neighbors.One is the old traditional house type with non-attached garage enclosed with fences. And the porches allow connections between neighbors. The other one is the new UIC house with non-attached garage but enclosed with nice walls. And the porches give chance to connect between house and street but not between porches. The third one is a very new house type with attached garage and bigger lots, most of this kind of house are for single families. However, the disadvantage of this very new house type is the less chance for neighbors to meet. This project is for the middle class family. How can we redesign the newer models to meet the market preference, but provide same of the chances of interaction that the old houses provide?So, my project uses idea of creating a central courtyard, connected porch and shared attached garage, but each house has their own back yard and balcony.

To extend the Combo idea from the “urban” project, in this project located in exburb that the single family treats part of the pipe line as their yard, which the public such as maintenance culd drive through as well. The house itself has fourbeds on one side, and living spaces on another rectangle shape space. One strip is for four bedrooms including one master bedroom, Another one is for living room, kitchen and dining room. People who live in exurburb might want to have more private spaces, there is no shared space between neighborhood. However, they could see each other in their back yard on pipe line.

In conclusion. pipe line is the shared zone that they could hangout.

08 Hybrid Intersection

Hybrid Intersection Artist residence, market, and gallery.

WUSTL Degree Project / Solo Project Project Type: Mix-use building Year: 2018 Fall Instructor: Eric Hoffman Saint Louis as a city, is very empty. To gather people together doing more cultural communication is the purpose of my degree project. So, I decided to create a market with art gallery and artist residence.

The site is located at the intersection between Hanley Rd and Clayton Rd. The site is a loped rectangle space with many residential buildings all around it. The market such as restaurants and artist shop can be on the first floor shaped as terrace along with the slope of the site, and the artist residence is on the second and third floor. Since the site is a long rectanglular shape, I designed two long bars following the shape of the site to create an open space between. The open space is a purely open space with trees, ben ches, and some green landscape. The shop on the two sides have different height. The building is structured by steels with glasses and concrete. The market, gallery, and restaurants on the first level are structured by steels, walls are made of concrete; and the upper level are concrete. The columns go all the way from top to underground level.

In conclusion, I wish this project could make this city more vivid with cultural background.

WUSTL Optional Studio / Solo Project Project Type: Library Year: 2016 Spring Instructor: Jaymon Diaz This project was to build a library around with a highway and a church at Saint Louis.

I was supposed to design a library for books about gardening stuff. Therefore, I cut a central courtyard in the library that people could hangout or plant there. Also, the first floor has gardening tools can be borrowed so that people could take practice of how to planting.

Furthermore, the natural light could across the courtyard, and light up the interior of the library.

Polykatoikia Apartment buildings at Athens

The studio fucoses on the typical Greek apartment building. This Urban unit, found in many morphological variations, was repeated almost infinitely to rapidly form contemporary Greek cities. The notion of private construction, however, neglected to address the importance of public spaces that seem to only occur as left-over spaces in the city fabric.

Current living trends, as well as changes in everyday lives, due to the economic crisis, suggest new modes of living and inhabitation. The studio not only addresses the private dwelling/ apartment (size, layout, interior and exterior space), but also the way these buildings evolve in the city. The site, a plot in the middle-class area of Sepolia, is large enough to accommodate multiple projects, thus allowing for proposals to address collective issues on a neighborhood scale.

The new buildings we built as a group were trying to create a open space(garden) in the center arounded with three buildings, which one of them is mine. In addition, the weather at Athens is hot, and the sunlight from the south is strong. So, I created a shaded focades for the balcony that the residences could get enough light while using the balcony efficiently.
