The design transforms an abandoned urban railway into a vibrant high-line park, integrating green landscapes, historical preservation, and community connection. Local vegetation is introduced to restore the ecosystem, enhance biodiversity, and create a tranquil urban oasis.
Iconic features like stone walls and railway elements are preserved to showcase the site's industrial heritage, blending history with modern design. Pedestrian walkways, slopes, and stepped trails reconnect communities once divided by the railway, fostering a healthy lifestyle and closer social ties. Beyond leisure and ecological bene昀椀ts, the park incorporates cultural and educational features, such as art exhibitions, enriching its signi昀椀cance.
This multifunctional design revives the site's historical charm while providing an ecologically sustainable and culturally diverse public space, improving community life.
The design aims to rehabilitate a degraded waterfront wetland that has su昀昀ered from logging, human encroachment, and illegal 昀椀shing, transforming it into a thriving ecosystem tailored to support the migration and breeding of the endangered Chinese crested tern.
By implementing ecological restoration strategies, the project revitalizes the tidal zone, enriching the area's topography and water environment to create a habitat that meets the critical survival needs of these rare birds.
Low-impact infrastructure, such as observation platforms and ecofriendly trails, ensures human interaction without disturbing the ecosystem. This approach fosters harmony between humans and wildlife, promoting conservation and sustainability while protecting a vital habitat for the Chinese crested tern.

2.SUPRATIDALZONE
The supratidal zone is high in elevation and not easily submerged by the tide. It is rich in vegetation and is an area for birds to live, forage, nest and rest. The intertidal zone is regularly submerged by seawater as the tides rise and fall, has high biodiversity, and is an important foraging area for migratory birds and waterfowl. Woodlands are places where birds roost, breed, forage and socialize, and they maintain groups or territories through singing and social activities.

The climate crisis in Mali has led to seasonal flooding, water shortages, land degradation and ecological deterioration, threatening the livelihoods of agriculture, 昀椀sheries and animal husbandry.
The climate crisis in Mali has led to water shortages, land degradation and ecological deterioration, threatening the livelihoods of agriculture, 昀椀sheries and animal husbandry. Farmers, herders and 昀椀shermen frequently clash over limited resources, and extreme weather has exacerbated food production and poverty, seriously a昀昀ecting community stability and development.
Through water storage and aquaculture in forest 昀椀sh ponds, 昀椀ltration in community rainwater puri昀椀cation zones, e昀케cient irrigation in agricultural canals, subsistence farming in rooftop gardens and family farms, and distribution of agricultural products in trade markets, the project establishes a sustainable development system that integrates water management, food production, and economic vitality.
The design utilizes agricultural landscape planning to reconcile production con昀氀icts between 昀椀shermen, farmers and pastoralists in Mali and to realize a symbiotic vision of community prosperity.

FISHERMEN: The dry land prevented us from fishing from December to March.
HERDERS & FARMERS: The floods prevented us from grazing and farming freely from April to October.
2 : FOOD SCARCITY
In the past, there was plenty of rain and a good harvest. Climate conditions are becoming increasingly severe. Every year, extreme droughts and 昀氀oods leave us with no harvest and starvation.
In the past, the community was harmonious and people benefited each other. Today, the population is booming and racial conflicts frequently. The habitats of farmers, herders and fishermen are becoming overlapping and scarce.

The abandoned malt silos of the Canadian Malt Company were once a symbol of the prosperity of local beer production. As the industry gradually declined, the site was idle for a long time and was gradually forgotten by urban development. However, these industrial sites full of historical memories are important carriers of beer culture.
The project renovation focuses on commemorating beer culture, cleverly utilizing the abandoned malt silos, integrating beer cultural space and roof gardens, integrating green space, lawns, water features, children's play areas and beer experience areas, and providing people with a multi-functional activity venue.
The design aims to transform the site into a vibrant multi-functional memorial square, promote community interaction through the integration of history and modernity, show the cultural charm of urban renewal, and reawaken its historical value and cultural signi昀椀cance.
MASTERPLAN
From the perspective of the perspective, the harmonious beauty of the overall spatial layout and the rationality of the functional zoning are demonstrated. From a bird's-eye view, it can be clearly seen that the designed memorial community square is organically integrated with the historical characteristics of the industrial structure, and the connection between the site and the surrounding urban environment is highlighted, re昀氀ecting the unique charm of the intersection of historical memory and modern urban life.
