The Studio project aims to design a space that accommodates both the site and a body of water, creating a Hub for shared public space and a private Studio for the environmental activist Greta Thunberg. It is located in a rural environment in Sweden, where the land gently slopes downward towards the lake in the south.

located above, is a simple, minimalistic retreat for reading, researching, or meditating alone. The room engages with nature through the green roof and the transparency of operable OSB board fins that filter the light inside. The spiral staircase connects the two levels, flowing towards the ground and leading to a path that goes to the lake.

It plays organically with the landscape without interrupting the tranquility of the place. The choice of humble materials is inspired by Greta’s ascetic lifestyle and passion for a sustainable world

This studio brief aims to design a home for a retired couple transitioning from the leafy inner suburbs of Adelaide to the inner city. They’ve committed themselves to a social hosting project, necessitating a home that accommodates their needs as well as provides space for weekly guests—recent arrivals to the city. The couple enjoys gardening, cooking, and hosting small events like talks and house concerts (also known as porch sessions). Their desire is to continue these interests in their new compact urban home.

nearby, the site consists of two parts: a single-story private section as the main dwelling and a double-story wing for guest accommodation. These spaces converge into a spacious shared ground area, offering privacy when needed and fostering connectivity during social events. To address specific site conditions, such as significant trees, multiple compact garden areas are integrated, catering to the owners’ gardening interests and softening the surrounding multistory environment.

The new home requires a private, permanent space for the couple and an additional area for their temporary guests.

The design should facilitate connectivity between these spaces, allowing for shared meals and social interactions, both indoors and outdoors.

Exterior materials primarily consist of concrete combined with aluminum panel cladding, creating a cohesive blend with the modern architectural context. Timber elements are strategically incorporated to add warmth and soften the overall industrial appearance.

KEEPING PLACE This studio project focused on themes that addressed the concept of Temporary and Tactical Urbanism in Architecture, as well as First Nation People Worldviews and the concept of ‘Country.’

Its purpose is to foster an understanding of specific socio-cultural and environmental conditions, specifically in the context of spatial programming and materiality. The client’s needs and values are centered around the repatriation of artifacts from various collections to the Warlpiri People in the Northern Territory. At a practical level, this involves moving a large number of objects, the majority of which are stored in museum collections, to a suitably designed keeping place for storage and display on Warlpiri Country, in the town of Yuendumu. Located on the edge of the Tanami Desert, it ranks as one of the larger remote com-

munities in central Australia.

The project proposal is a place for the local community to display, interact, and store significant cultural artifacts, share Elders’ knowledge and Warlpiri culture with locals and visitors. The footprint for the Cultural Centre required to be conservative and multi-functional where possible for budgetary reasons. Cultural requirements include men’s and women’s yarning spaces separated visually and audibly and preferably open to the outside. An important part of the brief is to take into consideration the Landscape as an essential part of the Aboriginal concept of living.

Elders have referred to ‘Country’ as their cultural center.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

The Fallen Tree Concept refers to Aboriginal shelters, offering an ethno-architectural response to the climate conditions in Yuendumu. These shelters are intricately linked to the changing needs of specific times, temperatures, wind directions, and sunpaths. The physical environment plays an integral role in the Aboriginal way of life.

Adopting a Temporary and Tactical Urbanism (TTU) strategy, timber was chosen as the primary building material. Prefabricated modules were designed to be constructed off-site and then assembled on location. This timber structure allows for elevating the building off the site surface, reducing scarring on the land, and safeguarding artifacts in the event of flooding.

KEEPING PLACE cultural centre The center is designed in three interconnected parts linked by a timber deck. Its shape reflects specific socio-cultural requirements, with men’s and women’s spaces and paths well-separated yet smoothly connecting to the communal space.

FREELANCE PROJECT Project type COFFEE SHOP Year 2023 Russia

DESCRIPTION: The project is the budget interior fit-out for a Coffee shop It is located on the second floor of the busy two story shopping center. The client vision is the casual but quirky spot to recharge with a quick coffee. It has panoramic view on the east and opportunity to extend the seating area to outside . The work included careful documentation of the existing place making sure the new design does not conflict with existing conditions. The desicion was to keep the existing structure of the ceiling but

replace diagonal gypsum sheets to plywood pannels which brought interesting geometry to the interior.The use of inexpensive materials in variouse interpretations, as well as a custome-made furniture pieses, made it possible to create an interior at low cost.
