How is it possible for ordinary, average, even good people to become perpetrators of evil ?

21st century, the peace, and prosperity we have are intimately associated with a series of movements, struggles, and conflicts that have occurred since the 20th century. Ironically, in the decades following the war, people have been attempting to escape from these historical memories, unwilling to face the past that we had encountered. And therefore, all of the memories are fading and fading..., turning into a dark heritage that no one wants to talk about.

THE LUCIFER EFFECT ]

" How is it possible for ordinary, average, even good people to become perpetrators of evil ? "

The Lucifer Effect is the phenomenon discovered by Phillip Zimbardo where people go from being individually moral to becoming evil, corrupt, and often brutal, toward other people as a result of pressure under specific group circumstances. Those in power commit terrible actions against others as a result of peer pressure, dehumanization, and pressure to conform to the actions committed by others in their group.

FOUR MAIN ISSUE IN POST-WAT SOCIETY

OF WAR FADING MEMORIES RIVAL SOCIETIES CYCLE OF VIOLENCE

Social issues surrounding war and its legacy continue to emerge, yet few reflect on the nature of war as collective violence. As a result, humanity remains ensnared in the aftermath of war. After enduring two world wars, today's world can be seen as a "society born from war." We must reconsider war as a crucial clue for understanding modern socie ty.

Take Poland as an example, having experienced World War II, This nation still grapples with several post-war issues...

ENVIRONMENTAL INTEGRATION

Integrating the topographical variations in the site's vertical axis by utilizing the newly intervening architectural space

By introducing narrative dimensions into the mobility, two distinct environments—the land and the sea—are brought into direct conflict and mutual echoes.

By nesting new and orginal structures together, new space can be intervened in to create contrasts and juxtapositions of different spatial axes.

The essence of this concept revolves around an individual's perspective during wartime. The psychological state of an ordinary person under extreme conditions can be broadly categorized into five distinct stages. During such times, individuals endure immense pressure, often resulting in a loss of self-control and subsequent disorientation. This phenomenon, known as the Lucifer Effect, illustrates how ordinary people can undergo significant transformation.

This entire process can be seen as a journey of escape and clarity, with the aim of dismantling the illusion of a utopian post-war society.

Welcome To Utopia / The Journey

[ Expedition | Unkown | Impulsive / Eager | Curious | Ambitious ]

It's a phase of unknown and idealistic, where people are chasing the utopia created by the authority.

However, they cannot capture the big picture but mindlessly follow their lofty fantasies, when they finally take their steps to pursue the chaos, they will then realize that what seems flawless and perfect is not what they initially expected.

CHAPTER 03 | 04

Shattered / Escape From Utopia [ Lost | Confused | Fearful / Escape | Hasty ]

They are stucked in a shattered dream and enventually lose their self Being lost and disoritened, individuals decided to escape, escape from the utopia established by those in power. Trying to reawaken their awareness, and at the same time try to bring everthing back to where it belongs.

CHAPTER 05

[ Contemplation | Peaceful | Reconciliation ]

Eventually, people managed to escape from Utopia, regained awareness, and escape the loop of the "Lucifer Effect".

We regain control of our own thinking and rebuild social harmony.

People reconcile, remember, and reunite.

" This is the true utopia we have built. "

Bus stops are the center of urban activity and a crucial part o f the transportation system. But ironically, those who take public transportation are typica lly ones who care the most about the environment, yet they are compelled placing them at r isk for exposure to PM2.5 and hazardous brake dust.

As a result, we intend to develop an urban purification system and the city's lungs.

BIOMIMETIC INSPIRATION

The pattern is based on the structure of the fish's gills. The bidirectional metal plate parts that are curved and overlap each other are placed to form a single b ody, which is then put together to create a stacked structure. The building is shaped like a bi onic fish with gills, suggesting that city bus stops are like our lungs and help us breathe cons tantly.

Operation

The temperature change can readily allow pollutants to be taken to high altitudes and disperse, generating a temperature inversion layer in the sky, due to the noticeable differences in vertical temperature difference between day and night. The temperature inversion layer is more likely to emerge throughout the night, morning, and evening hours of the day, resulting in air pollution.

As a result, multiple operation modes are employed at different times to adapt to the present environmental circumstances.

The dots will connected down the road ” “ - Steve Jobs

With the advent of the post-pandemic era , the distance between people and the sort of human habitation has altered.

In order to reshape the social relationship between people, I i ntend to present the future architecture alongside the traditional way of living. And put greater emphasis on the connection, interaction, and co mmunication between the residents.

SACREDSERVICE

The site is situated in Glowna of Poznan , Poland. The amount of greenery in this area is widely distributed, and the vegetation cover andthe arbor is extensive. As a result, the plot can be defined as the center of the green distribution, which also creates a spatial medium of excess and visual flow.

The original definition of the word "GLOWNA" is "a village surr ounded by mountains", which not only captures the poetic ambiance but als o illuminates the region's rich historical background.

Dating back to the history of GLOWNA , this region contains one of the earliest communities in recorded history , and as time went on , the axi s of the neighborhood shifted , the area's growth also grew steadily more prosperous. Despite the fact that the war once completely destroyed this ar ea, it also provides Glowna a new opportunity to develop in the city.

Create spatial connections on the ground floor and extend outward

cut the volume at an oblique angle along the axis and push the volume inward to define the spatial function

Visualize and elaborate the volume into the entire design body.

There are various aspects to the plot environment's / urban des ign.

Street corner of the plot : The street corner serves as both a gathering place for people and the hub of activity, and the construction of the "laundry" makes th e crowding of people more engaging.

Park Square across from the plot : Establish the axis of the surrounding green belt and design the park's texture around it.

In addition to reflecting the wooden construction, the building's facade is built with the purest wood tones, which also symbolizes the "simplicity" and "purity" of the original living arrangemen t. Additionally, the distinction between public and private spaces is made evident by the contrast between the physical building mass and the virtual timber frame.

To improve connection and relationships between inhabitants, a bridge and interactive nodes are installed in the negitive space between the two buildings to create a chemistry among the inhabitants

MAO'AO . NEW TAIPEI CITY ACADEMIC . INDIVIDUAL WORK

Limitless and immortal, the waters are the beginning and end of all things on earth. ”

The sea is fundamental to the Mao'ao people's recollections and way of life. But as time has passed, migration and population aging have increased the vulne rability of Mao'ao's traditional fishing business. As a result, I intend to pinpoint the interse ction of the Mao'ao people's life and the origin of their memories to revive the traditional business .

The site is located in Mao'ao village, New Taipei City

The harbor's distinctive geography has resulted in a sea that is varied and abundant in marine resources. The local fishermen still employ traditional fishing methods, and drying sea veggies is a common sight in front of their homes and on the plaza.

As a result ,one may say that the sea is a collective memory for the residents of Mao'ao.

CONCEPT

DEVELOPMENT DAIGRAM

Defining the axes according to the base texture

Generating the volumes based on the axes

Slow Fish is the international Slow Food campaign committed to rediscovering the value chain behind fish. It is intended that by introducing the slow-fish culture, the gap between the dinner table and the ocean would be reduced and people will become more knowledgeable about marine ecology, which will in turn motivate locals and visitors to care about marine ecology.

EXPERIMENTAL THEATER

People can go through the space with a variety of emotions because of the non-specific orientation design, which enhances the area's imagination and thus creates an immersive experience that feels like being in a fish farm in Mao'ao.

The permeability of the space is increased by the space function's downward movement, allowing the interior space to frame the exterior natural landscape.

SLOW FISH THEME RESTAURANT

The restaurant uses fresh fish from the fish market as its main ingredient, and the spatial relationship's design helps diners comprehend the industrial chain.

THE INTERSECTION

EXTERIOR SPACE

In order to establish a connection between the users of the space and the sea as well as the traditional fishing industry, the building's massing was influenced by fishing boats and sampans, moreover, the vertical elements are used in the facade composition to introducing more natural light sources.

We exist to discover and invent.

This project was a collaboration between Architect Eui-Sung Yi and Sir Peter Cook, with my role as an architectural assistant contributing to its completion.

Located in Mount Washington, Los Angeles, the building benefits from stunning views and a unique sloped terrain. The design features curves and vibrant colors to harmonize with the environment. At the same time, a key element— the “deck”—serves a significant role, maximizing the horizontal usable space that the site inherently lacks.

“ - Sir Peter Cook

[ IDEATION ]

The image features sketches of Sir Peter Cook

In response to the unique terrain of the site, this project aims to create an intriguing architectural design with a distinctive character. However, due to the limitations of the gross floor area and the loose, sandy soil of the slope, Sir Peter Cook decided to construct the building horizontally above the hill. To address the issue of insufficient space, he incorporated cantilever decks, maximizing the usable area. This horizontal extension also creates additional external spaces that connect more seamlessly with the surrounding scenery.
