CULTURE TUBE .
| CONCEPT |
The Camperdown proposal includes the design of a contemporary pop-up pavilion to be used as a branding & marketing tool for the hotel. The new interior design scheme for the boutique hotel is to be inspired by contemporary, local, indigenous art and sustainable design. The aim is to attract more local customers and tourists to the hotel, which becomes the melting point for the community as a new landmark in the inner west.
Investigation of the inner west reveals an intriguing multicultural mix from archaeological finds such as ancient Chinese coins to strident social activism and political action.
The concept of Culture Tube explores the underbelly of the inner west culture in which from this diversity is forged a harmonious community. The popup store represents the Rainbow Serpent in indigenous art and culture, the beginning, the creation. The hotel accommodation is divided into four zones representing the seasons: Spring represents Indigenous purity, Summer, African passion, Autumn, Asian tradition and Winter, Australian multiculturalism.
