《Itahashi》Piano Suite
Time flows like water through the land of Banqiao. As a child, I spent my days with my grandparents, listening to their mix of Japanese and Hakka, feeling the warmth and comfort of the familiar land. These memories form an invisible river, quietly flowing in my heart.
Like the river, the city has undergone continuous change—from a bustling port during the waterborne trade era to a planned urban center in the Japanese colonial period, and finally to a modern city. “Itahashi”, the old name for Banqiao, reflects my personal connection to this land. The piece is divided into three movements, each capturing different phases of its history: the port, the rising city, and the enduring bridges. Through music, I aim to evoke Banqiao’s century-long transformation and my own deep emotional ties to this land.
