PASTOR An Anniversary Pledge of Hope “And it shall be, when you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you possess it and dwell in it, 2 that you shall take some of the first of all the produce of the ground, which you shall bring from your land that the LORD your God is giving you, and put it in a basket and go to the place where the LORD your God chooses to make His name abide. 3 And you shall go to the one who is priest in those days, and say to him, ‘I declare today to the LORD your God that I have come to the country which the LORD swore to our fathers to give us.’ “Then the priest shall take the basket out of your hand and set it down before the altar of the LORD your God. 5 And you shall answer and say before the LORD your God: ‘My father was a Syrian, about to perish, and he went down to Egypt and dwelt there, few in number; and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous. 6 But the Egyptians mistreated us, afflicted us, and laid hard bondage on us. 7 Then we cried out to the LORD God of our fathers, and the LORD heard our voice and looked on our affliction and our labor and our oppression. 8 So the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders. 9 He has brought us to this place and has given us this land, “a land flowing with milk and honey”; 10 and now, behold, I have brought the first fruits of the land which you, O LORD, have given me.’ 4

“Then you shall set it before the LORD your God, and worship before the LORD your God. 11 So you shall rejoice in every good thing which the LORD your God has given to you and your house, you and the Levite and the stranger who is among you. Deuteronomy 26:1-11 New Mickle Baptist Church family has reached its CENTENNIAL milestone of Ministry and Hope. Sheila and I are privileged to find ourselves a part off the ministry that God has allowed to serve in His Name in this Community. He has used New Mickle to His Glory and Purpose. Today we face new Goals in serving and new opportunities to Present the Hope of Salvation in ways that we never would have thought possible. We as a church family must more than ever Strengthen ourselves In the Lord as He gives us this chance to be used by Him. I am looking excitedly toward what God will accomplish in this ministry to Him and for Him and we must more than ever talk to Him and allow Him to take us to the next level. I Praise God for Loving us and purposing to continue to use us to His Glory. Pastor Melvin N. Allen, Sr.

In the Precious Perfect Name of Jesus, Amen. Reverend Melvin N. Allen, Sr. & First Lady Sheila Allen and Family

ASSISTANT PASTOR Reverend Thelma Willis Miller daughter of the late Linwood and Julia Willis was born in Camden New Jersey, her love of the Lord was nurtured by her parents and extended family. Her spiritual journey began as a child at New Mickle Baptist Church where she accepted Christ and through the years used her spiritual gifts as Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, Missionary and Director of Christian Education. After accepting the call of God to ministry she studied at Cairn University and with her pastor and Rev. Dr. Raymond Thomas. Eventually she was licensed and in 2003 was the first woman to be ordained at New Mickle Baptist Church. She is currently the Assistant Pastor of the church. Thelma has been married to her childhood sweetheart for 48 years and is the parent of an adult son Gregory II and Mother in Love to LaTanya. Thelma is an educator who retired from the School District of Philadelphia after 35 years and has served as Executive Director of Lincoln Day Educational Center in Philadelphia, PA. for the last 11 years. Her ministry mission is to spread the gospel and be of service wherever there is a need. Her hands are available for God's use. Her mouth is dedicated to his call and her feet are commissioned to go where He leads. Preaching, teaching and serving are her passion. Her anchoring bible verse is " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".

HISTORY OF NEW MICKLE BAPTIST CHURCH Rev. Richard C. Aulstin along with a small group of Christians organized this church in his home on little Locust Street, Camden, N.J. In the spring of 1917, this group of Christians moved to 228 Mickle Street at the invitation of Rev. George W. Tanksley. There they labored together in Christian harmony for the erection for God's Tabernacle and this body became known as Mickle Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Mollie Blevins, the daughter of Rev. Richard Aulstin was one of the early pioneers of this church. She along with many faithful saints continued to trust God for increase. In September 1919, the church was incorporated at Camden City Hall. Soon after this, under the leadership of Rev. Aulstin the church continued to grow. There were struggles however through prayer, faith and God's eminent power they were able to overcome all obstacles. The founding members had a desire to proclaim Jesus, praise His name and tear Satan's kingdom down. There were stalwart faithful families who have generations still present in the church today. During the years, the church was located on Mickle Street it was pastored by the following men of God: Rev. Richard Aulstin Rev. Henry Berry Rev. Joseph H. Stafford

Rev. Dean Rev. Samuels Rev. W. Watt Sherrod Rev. J. W. Alston

The church continued to grow and soon there was a need to expand. A new pastor, Rev. Jessie Brady ushered in a significant era under which a new location at 4th and Benson Streets was purchased. The name of the church was changed to New Mickle Baptist Church. The Lord blessed New Mickle and over the years the following men became Pastor: Rev. J. H. Jackson Rev. Wallace Parham Rev. Donnie Garris

Rev. S. C. Miller Rev. Herman Camper Rev. Hilyard Knox (Interim Pastor)

Seventeen years ago the Lord assigned Rev. Dr. Melvin N. Allen, Sr. as pastor. We praise God for Pastor Allen, his wife Sheila and their family. We look to the hills from whence cometh our help as we continue to lift up the name of Jesus. For 100 years we have been blessed to minister in this South Camden area. We have seen changes to our neighborhoods, our community and city but there is one thing that we know will never change--that is our call to lift up the name of Jesus and to share the gospel to men women boys and girls. We have a blessed assignment and a blessed assurance. We shall be faithful to our mission. We have entered a new phase in our organizational structure; we now accept the expanded role of women in ministry and have ordained our first female in our 100 year history, Rev. Thelma Willis Miller who is our Assistant Pastor. Keep praying for us as we now have two ministers in training, Deacon Troy Bratten and Deaconess Sherrelle Jenkins. What a mighty God we serve!!!! We pray that we will continue to serve this community and build upon our firm foundation. “We have come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord, trusting in His holy word. He has never failed us yet.

We are proud to serve n the name of Jesus

TO THE ANGEL AT NEW MICKLE BAPTIST CHURCH CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 100TH ANNIVERSARY

I know your works that have • Fed the hungry • Clothed the naked • Given water to the thirsty • Visited the sick and prison-bound • Provided the word of hope to everybody Therefore my beloved brethren, as New Mickle has been over the last 100 years, continue to be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. Continue to. . . • Preach the Word • Be instant, in season and out of season • Reprove • Rebuke • Exhort With all long suffering and doctrine, Behold I come quickly; hold fast to that which thou hast, that no man take thou crown Because

time is at hand

May God continue to bless you as you share the glorious gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ

In Celebrating New Mickle Baptist Church 100 year anniversary we celebrate you both for your commitment to New Mickle Baptist Church and your family!

Deaconess Gail & Trustee Norman Branch Proverbs 31:10-2010 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. Thank you Mom & Dad for teaching us how to be Godly. Words can never express the love we have for you thank you for your selfless love and all your sacrifices Sherrelle Jenkins, Sharron Jenkins, & Michelle Branch.
