elcome to the 2016 YRF Darca Gala. We are thrilled to celebrate another year of excellent education for underprivileged students in Israel. Your support of Darca schools strengthens the unique social fabric of the State of Israel and ensures the country’s long-term prosperity, one student at a time. We deeply appreciate you joining us tonight in support of our mission and tonight’s honorees, Allison and Bennett Rosenthal.

Our success wouldn’t be possible without the exemplary leadership and vision of our dear friends Allison and Bennett. As longtime supporters, Allison and Bennett have dedicated many years toward advancing the scholastic excellence of Israel’s underserved populations.

Tonight, we are honored to recognize their extraordinary commitment to transforming the educational landscape in Israel. On behalf of your fellow Board members and the thousands of students whose lives you’ve impacted, thank you, Allison and Bennett, for your enduring dedication and generosity.

We look forward to partnering with you for many more years to come.

Working only in disadvantaged communities where the need is greatest, Darca currently operates 25 schools and two learning centers serving 15,000 students of Jewish, Arab and Druze heritage in 16 cities across

Israel. In just 5 years, Darca schools have narrowed Israel’s education achievement gap between poor and wealthy students by providing social and academic support and by bringing cutting-edge pedagogical innovation to under-resourced communities.

In the past year, Darca has piloted several new initiatives in select classrooms, many of which are now ready to scale within our network.

As we prepare for the 2016/2017 school year, YRF Darca is committed to ensuring that every student within the Darca network will experience and benefit from these innovative teaching methods in their study of math, science and English. We believe that every child – regardless of socioeconomic background, ability, or religion – deserves an equal opportunity to compete in the global economy; we are confident that with your help, and the continued leadership of our distinguished honorees, we can meet this challenge and more.

2016 Honorees

ALLISON & BENNETT ROSENTHAL

A

llison graduated from Tufts University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Since retiring from the practice of law, Allison has been active in the Parent Association at Sinai Akiba Academy and the Parent Guild at The Windward School.

Allison is on the board of NuRoots, an initiative of The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, which works with unaffiliated and inactive Jews in their 20s and 30s to create inspired local experiences and engaged Jewish communities. Allison is also working with JQ International, an organization whose mission is to build a community that nurtures a fusion of LGBTQ and Jewish identities, to expand their teen program to the Westside of Los Angeles. Additionally, Allison is developing The Period Project LA, an organization to provide feminine hygiene products to homeless women.

Bennett graduated from the University of Pennsylvania earning both a B.S. in Economics and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School. He is a Co-Founder, Director, and Senior Partner of Ares Management and Co-Head of its Private Equity Group.

Prior to co-founding Ares, Bennett served as a Managing Director in the Global Leveraged Finance Group at

Merrill Lynch & Co. Bennett currently sits on the Board of Directors for a number of public and private companies, ranging across various industries, including Nortek, Jacuzzi, NVA, CPG Building Products and Dawn Holdings, the parent company for Serta and Simmons. Bennett is also an owner of the Los Angeles Football Club and a member of its Strategic Ownership Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Windward School in Los Angeles, and the Graduate Executive Board of the Wharton School of Business.

Allison and Bennett are the proud parents of Brooke, 19; Miles, 16; and Tess 15 and reside in Beverly Hills, California.
