Pre-Wedding Jitters

‘You have to start learning how to cook, what is your husband going to eat!’

‘You’re not a child anymore, you’re going to be married soon!’ Sound familiar?

Are wedding related issues such as these playing on your mind? If so, you’ve most likely got pre-wedding jitters.

Most of us who are married have been through it; your engagement period can be a highly stressful time for your family, your partner and mainly yourself, in the race to try and sort all the necessary errands before the big day. Due to these stresses in combination with the fear of what married life will consist of, your anxiety levels go through the roof.

Yes marriage is a huge commitment and it requires sacrifice but don’t get caught up with the negative factors, you mustn’t forget marriage opens so many doors to new opportunities, experiences and abundant happiness.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re reading this and thinking ‘easier said than done’, so I have compiled a few tips to help you on your way to lessen

How to fight your pre-wedding jitters the nerves and make you even more excited for the best day of your life!

Create a To Do List to stay organized, this will help you not only by knowing exactly what needs to get done but also writing it down helps you to remember them, some people say writing their schedules in a diary or list of things to do, relaxes their brain and they feel more capable of achieving those goals.

In continuation from my first tip, assign tasks from your To Do List to your fiancée, family members and friends who are willing to help. Remember, you do not need to do everything on your own.

Ask advice from your friends who are already married on how their wedding went and what married life is like for them, any tips they can give you?

Be around your loved ones be it your friends or family as they are the ones who will remind you to stay calm, help cheer you up and ensure your health and wellbeing.

If you’re finding it difficult to find the time to spend with your friends and family due to a busy schedule, it is important to step back from life and give yourself a little bit of time to yourself. Take a long bath, meditate or what I think is the best option – go for a jog. You’ll find it helps to calm the nerves and at the same you’ll be toning your body for all the wedding events, it’s a win-win!

It’s not as stressful if you remind yourself why you made the choice of getting married in the first place, it’s very likely your fiancée is experiencing ‘cold feet’ too so talk to each other and make each other laugh. There are countless events to be looking forward to after your wedding, for example your honeymoon.

On that note, a final tip to conclude, stop worrying, smile and have fun because when you look back at this period of your life you want to remember the happiness you felt not the stresses!

Purple Smokey Eye

Makeup Shade by Girl and Morphe Brushes

Makeup by Tamanna Here is a Purple Smokey Eye makeup look using the 35E – Its Bling Eye Shadow Palette and the 35C – Multi-colour Matte Palette from Morphe Brushes for this tutorial.

STEP 1 Firstly, apply a primer. I’ve applied Mac Paintpot in Soft Ochre all over my eyes as the base. This will ensure that the eye shadows do not crease and will help bring out the vibrancy of the colours more.

STEP 2 Using a flat paddle brush, apply a highlight colour on your brow bone. I’m using the matte white eyeshadow from the M35C palette. Then, using the B80 Pointed Crease brush from Morphe, apply the matte brown eyeshadow from the same palette into the crease.

STEP 3 Using the same B80brush, dip into the dark matte purple eyeshadow from the same palette and put that over the brown eyeshadow in the crease. BLEND, BLEND, BLEND

STEP 4 Using an M430 Duo Fibre Crease brush from Morphe, dip into the matte black eyeshadow and create a small “C” shape on the outer corner of the eyes and blend some more!

STEP 5 Now, apply a shimmery pink shade from the 35E palette to the remaining part of the eyelid, not going into the outer corner of the eyes.

STEP 6 Apply the same dark matte purple you applied earlier into your lower lashline. Then apply the matte black eyeshadow on the outer third of the lower lashline – connecting it into the “C” shape we created earlier. Blend out any harsh lines and apply a shimmery white/pearl shade on the inner corner of the eyes.

STEP 5 Now I’m applying Shades by Gal’s Super Gel Eyeliner in “Majesty” into my waterline.

STEP 6 Now for the finishing steps, apply mascara and false eyelashes! I’ve chosen to wear Red Cherry #523

I’ve chosen not to wear eyeliner for this look because I wanted to go for a bold lip too – and I felt like the eye look was already intense enough and having a bold lip would make it look quite imbalanced!

STEP 7 For the lips, I’ve applied Shades by Gal Transforming Lipstick in the shade Gigi and topped it off with Luxury Gloss in Ruby Slippers.

How to budget your wedding & stick with it

by Sheuly Begum The ring has just been placed on your finger, the tears begin to fall and you’ve got butterflies in your stomach; these feelings will last a lifetime as you relive your memories over and over again. As exciting as planning a wedding can be, the financing of it all is the daunting part. In this article, we will advise you on what we believe are classed as important or luxury decisions. We will be giving tips throughout and great tools that you may find handy.

It is often assumed a “Budget Wedding” is a fancy way of saying a cheap wedding, however we’d like to point out in no way does it imply the wedding is cheap. We are all very aware of peoples various financial situations and how it is uncommon for a couple in these tough economic times to be able to splash out.

We will be providing you with advice on how to spend according to your budget. Many couples spend more than what they can truly afford which is not the ideal way to begin your married life, however do not fear, your dream wedding can be made a reality by a few tips and tricks.

How to budget your wedding & stick with it

Communicate well with whoever is dealing with research and hiring; this can be your siblings, partner, friends, parents, etc.

Before you open up any magazine or log online for wedding ideas, you need to sit down and fill out a budget sheet (email: contact@yourpersonalbridaldreams. com for a FREE version of our budget sheet). Be realistic. Have a planned budget and an extra amount for flexibility, e.g. your budget for a Makeup Artist is £300 but maximum you will go is £350.

Once you have got your budget sorted, start searching for vendors, try and find roughly 4-5. Do find some that aren’t always listed in the top magazines/shows, allowing you to find a variety of vendors with quotes nearer to your budget.

Make a spread sheet of all the quotes you find and place your desired budget and maximum budget. Have links to each vendors website or leaflet if you have been given any.

Once you have collected all the information you need, discuss your options with your partner and look at all the vendors.

Try and narrow the list down to two per sector,then arrange a consultation with them.

When you do visit the vendors, DO NOT tell the vendors your real budget, stick with the desired one and try and negotiate with them. Some places are fixed price and as a client we should respect this and not try and negotiate, however luckily some of them are open to negotiation.

Once you have booked the vendors you like, make sure you have a confirmation email and contracts are signed. This is a really important part of your budget as some vendors can change their word last minute and the email will act as proof.

If you are planning a weekend away, keep in mind of the travelling & hotel costs. To keep costs low, find a location close to home, take part in local activities and suggest splitting airfare and hotel bills.

Unless you can find your perfect dress in your size, it’s more than likely you will need alterations.

Whether it’s hemming or taking it in (or out) you could see yourself spending few extra pounds/dollars.

You’ve put money aside for your professional hair and makeup for your wedding day, but remember to factor in trails you will need to get for your perfect look. Also, keep in mind any beauty treatments you wish to try out to get you ready for your wedding.

These could range from Mani/Pedi, facials massages etc. To keep this part of the budget low, you can visit sites like ‘Groupon’ to grab the best deals.

Many people may hire cars to travel to the wedding venue. This can make a sizable dent in your budget so do your research before on companies that hire wedding cars.

3. Invites When choosing your invites, factor in the size and weight as when sending them by post, it could cost you a lot more than anticipated.

Also finding the right shoes, bag or bouquet, will be an additional cost.

6. Wedding favours Favours come in all shapes and sizes, whether it’s a personalized gift or a time consuming DIY project, it will take a chunk out of your budget.

A final couple of tips, make sure you have backup vendors and keep aside at least 10% to 20% of your budget as an emergency fund.

by Muhaddisa Walji Your daughter, best friend and confidant is all grown up and the day of her wedding has finally arrived. The most joyful occasion for a mother to experience is her daughter’s wedding, an extremely special time filled with happiness and tears.

I’m certain those mothers whose daughter’s have tied the knot can vouch that you’re definitely in for a rollercoaster ride of emotions – no exaggerations!

You wonder where the years have gone to, the little girl you have nurtured by changing nappies, feeding and being a shoulder to cry on, is a grown woman who is there to wipe away your tears today.

Letting go of her is a continuous challenge you have always faced, giving her the freedom to live her own life but giving her away to create her own family is so painful as you increasingly want to hold on to her tighter, safe and protected. When feeling such emotions, it is important to focus on your daughter’s happiness as all she wants is for you to be pleased with her and her decision of getting married, (and she wants to see you smiling!)

Tears and emotions aside, one of the issues mothers face is the attire they must wear for their daughters wedding events.

Mother of the Bride For Asian weddings it is common to port a sari, as that is the traditional outfit that has been worn for countless years due to it’s timeless look and various styles. A mother should find the right balance of colour, modernity, and beading and especially how much of her skin is exposed for example midriff and décolletage.

Other outfit choices have more recently included lenghas, ghararas, anarkalis and sometimes western clothing.

Remember to enjoy your daughters wedding from the engagement preparations to her reception; try not to slip into those insignificant arguments that both of you get into over trivial factors, a perfect wedding will not be because of the décor but rather the presence and joy of all your daughter and fiancée’s loved ones.

Finally, although you are letting her go, your role as her mother remains, so even after her wedding, always

make the effort to be there for her but never interfere between her and her partners relationship. Continue creating memories and maintain the strong bond you have with her, this is the next step in your journey. Wishing you all the best for your daughter’s wedding.

Cut the thread to your desired length. Double it so it’s strong enough to hold the popcorn

Take the needle and pierce the popcorn in the middle.

Repeat till the garland is long enough to wrap around your hair.

What aspects should one think about when searching for the perfect bridesmaid outfit?

As a bridesmaid, look for a classic piece that you can wear again. I would advise bridesmaids to spend a little extra on an outfit that you will wear again.

Most bridesmaids are often required to move about during the wedding events, what style and material of outfit would you recommend?

My favourite would have to be the anarkali; the elegance of the flow of the cut reminds me of the regal attire the mogul queens used to wear, which

Ishrat Amin & Sayemz Riyad tie the knot

A chic photographer marries a cool drummer!

Bangladesh based Ishrat Amin finally ties the knot with her sweetheart Sayemz Riyad. A seamless perfect wedding was what they both wanted and that’s what they got. A fun intimate event that describes their personality and love!

YPBD has exclusive insight in their love story and wedding...

How did you both meet each other?

Well, we met through a mutual friend of ours. We became really good friends soon. Eventually one thing led to another and now we’re married!

Both of your careers are at two different ends, how do you manage to support each other?

Riyad: I started my band at a very

young age. She’s (Ishrat) always been very supportive and assertive about it. I had to work really hard to reach this point of my career and if I didn’t have her unconditional support and motivation all this time, I don’t think I’d have made it.

Ishrat: Riyad’s always been very serious about music but photography started off as a hobby for me. It was him who persuaded me into taking it seriously.

Who organised all of the events?

Riyad: We didn’t really get much time to prepare for the Nikaah. We both didn’t have much workload at that time so our families picked out a date and asked us to start shopping. It was more like a surprise. It was Ishrat who did everything. We all wanted to help but she’s so fussy about everything that she just HAD to take over!

We both are at a very stable position in our careers. We’re busy all the time and sometimes it gets so crazy but we have our moments. I think what keeps us going is mutual understanding and respect for each other.

When did you both decide it’s time for marriage?

Our families took that decision for us to be honest. Well, we can’t thank them enough for that. It’s quite a big decision and both the families being comfortable with it was very important.

Who proposed to who and how?

Ishrat: Riyad proposed. It was magical.

From décor to photography it was all taken care of by our very own event management firm, Dream Merchant Event Solutions. We planned our events in such a hurry that we didn’t get any desired venues. So, we picked our own residences. The Sangeet was at my place and the Nikaah was at

Ishrat’s. Ishrat’s makeup was done by Zahid Khan.

At YPBD HQ we fell in love with your attires. Who designed them?

Ishrat: We didn’t have much time to go abroad for shopping. So, we got everything tailored.

From Riyad’s Turban to his Sherwani, Riyad got them tailored according to his taste. My outfits were self-designed.

My mom’s a designer so she has her own team who made my ideas come to life.

Where did you decide to go for your honeymoon?

We decided to go to Cox’s Bazaar as

it’s the best place to go to in such a hurry. We’re planning to go to Europe after our Walima, Inshallah!

What are your future plans?

For now we both want to focus on our event management business and let’s see how things unfold.

Your Walima/Reception is next year, will it be bigger and better than your wedding?

Riyad: Ishrat and I both have plans that our Walima will be grand and worth remembering but only Allah knows what’s in store for us. If everything goes according to plan, it will be bigger and way better, Inshallah!
