Why Arts Education Matters
“Arts education is so much more than the name implies, and that’s saying a lot: of course you know that the TV you watch, music you enjoy, shows you see, visual designs that catch your eye, they’re all a result of someone teaching visual or performing arts. But even within schools, the arts provide a safe haven for students finding their voice, offer a broader world view & exercise empathy, and plainly make students smarter in every other subject. Many people you see tonight have had their lives saved by an arts educator. Your being here tonight affirms your belief that arts education matters, and we’re joined in a mission to make it accessible for all!”
Darrington Clark is originally from Raytown, MO and graduated from K-State in 2016. He has been a professional actor since then, completing the Emerging Professional Residency at Milwaukee Rep, and appearing regionally at Unicorn Theatre, Kansas City Rep, Coterie Theatre and more. Upcoming: Dreamgirls at New Theatre Restaurant as Jimmy Early.

Providing equal access to arts education for at-risk and disadvantaged youth of Kansas City through enhanced scholarship programs and community outreach programs.
We are excited to introduce the Youth Arts Alliance of Greater Kansas City to our community!
This non-profit organization was formerly known as the Stage Right Arts Foundation, which was established in 2010 to provide scholarships to arts education programs for young performers. Since its inception, more than $250,000 in scholarships have been awarded to children and young adults from across the metropolitan area.
As of February 2023, we are now known as the Youth Arts Alliance, which we believe better describes our expanded mission and more clearly represents our commitment to the larger Kansas City arts community. Since our founding, we have been honored to be part of pivotal conversations and efforts in the Kansas City community to connect at-risk and disadvantaged youth to arts education programming.
We all have witnessed the life-changing power that participation in the Arts can foster, a place where healing, hope, self-confidence, and resilience are learned each and every day. The Youth Arts Alliance is committed to provide those transformational Arts experiences to even more atrisk and disadvantaged youth across the Kansas City area. Over the last year, we have seen an opportunity to do even more – to provide not only more scholarship funding, but to also expand our mission and the contributions we can make through a variety of community outreach programs.
Community outreach will include, but certainly not be limited to, grants to qualified performing arts programs in the KC area to reach more at-risk and disadvantaged youth, funding to provide supplemental performing arts instruction at area schools through teaching arts, and job skills training/internships for young adults interested in technical or business careers in the arts.
