Auction house Reeman Dansie in Colchester, England, announced that a slice of wedding cake from the marriage of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip has been purchased for $2,831, United Press International reported. The little slice of history, part of a 500-pound cake served at the Nov. 20, 1947, wedding, had been given as a gift to Marion Polson, a housekeeper at Holyrood House in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was preserved in a box bearing the then-princess’s insignia and included a letter from the bride. No word on how it tasted.

Mattel is scrambling after releasing its new line of “Wicked” dolls in packaging that included a link not to the upcoming movie’s official page, but to a porn website, United Press Internation-
al reported. “We deeply regret this unfortunate error,” the company said in a statement. It was unclear how many dolls carried the misprint, but the company said they were mostly sold in the United States. Mattel helpfully advises people who have purchased products with the misprint to dispose of the boxes.
Say What?
Semi-professional paranormal investigator Johnny Turnip of Abergavenny, Wales, has weighed in on the recent American election, the Abergavenny Chronicle reported on Nov. 11. “Trump isn’t the real enemy, leprechauns are!” he told the paper. “They have been using world leaders and royalty as puppets and distractions from their own diabolical schemes for generations. I don’t think either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris were ever aware that they were being used by these corrupt, gold-hungry, shamrock-obsessed, stove-pipe-wearing, alcoholic little pygmies.” Turnip went on: “Most people don’t think leprechauns are real, and neither did I until a wise man told me that I’d have a hard time finding a mermaid in this day and age because the leprechauns had systematically slaughtered most for them for their scales centuries ago.” Unsurprisingly, Turnip had MUCH more to say than we can include here. Consider yourself warned.
Least Competent Criminals
Four Californians were arrested for insurance fraud on Nov. 13 for an incident that took place in January, NBC News reported. Ruben Tamrazian, 26; Ararat Chirkinian, 39; Vahe Muradkhanyan, 32; and Alfiya Zuckerman, 39, filed insurance claims on three Mercedes cars, complete with video, which they said had been damaged by a bear. The Jan. 8 alleged attack took place while the cars were parked at Lake Arrowhead northeast of Los Angeles. “The investigation determined the bear was actually a person in a bear costume,” the insurance department said. The bear costume, paws and metal hand tools that simulate claws were found in the suspects’ home, officials said. Investigators said they had shown the video to a biologist from the California Department of Fish and
who “opined it was clearly a human in a bear suit.”

line during the early part of the week. You need time to study issues that weren’t fully explored. The latter part of the week might be more favorable for decision-making.
TAX TIPS
ARIES (March 21 to April 19) A project benefits from your organizational skills that get it up and running. Your success leaves a highly favorable impression. Don’t be surprised if you get some positive feedback soon.
TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) Spend time on practical matters throughout the week, then shift your focus to more artistic pursuits. Resist being overly self-critical. Just allow yourself to feel free to create.
GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) Restarting those creative projects you had set aside for a while will help provide a much-needed soothing balance
SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) A new development could snarl travel schedules or other holiday-linked projects. Some flexibility might be called for, to deal with problems before they get too far out of hand.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) Relatives seek your advice on a matter you’d rather not be involved in. If so, use your sage Sagittarian tact to decline the “offer” so that no one’s feelings are needlessly hurt.
CAPRICORN (December 22 to January 19) A shift in your planning direction might help you speed up your progress toward achieving a long-planned goal. Trusted colleagues are ready to offer valuable support.
effort to do what’s right and not taking the easy way out by running off. (July 23 to August 22) The Lion’s enthusiasm for a workplace policy review is admirable. But be sure you know who is really behind the resistance to change before pointing your finger at the wrong person.
AQUARIUS (January 20 to February 18) An unexpected demand for the settlement of an old loan could create some preholiday anxiety. But you might not really owe it. Check your records thoroughly before remitting payment.
VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) You can expect to have a lot of work throughout the first half of the week. Devote the rest of the week to checking your plans in case some need to be adjusted.
LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) Try to avoid signing on the dotted
PISCES (February 19 to March 20) It’s a good time to get involved with your social circle. Enjoy some wellearned fun and games with those closest to you before you have to resume more serious activities next week.
BORN THIS WEEK: Your ability to sense the needs of others makes you a wise counselor for those seeking help with their problems.

Forrest Gump has more CGI than Jurassic Park. When Forrest ran through a jungle in Vietnam, and showed his table tennis skills, that was CGI. Even the feather at the opening scene is computer-generated. Overall, Forrest Gump has more minutes of CGI screen-time than Jurassic Park. Another one of those funny facts that are hard to believe.
Cooking shows are almost always scripted. For most cooking contests, contestants would get the ingredients they have to use weeks earlier. For restaurant improvement shows, the restaurants they feature usually go bankrupt a month after their episode is aired.

There is a Starbucks cup in all frames of Fight Club. Move aside, Game of Thrones. David Fincher directed Fight Club at the height of Starbucks cafes popping up everywhere. He claimed it was “too much of a good thing,” and put a Starbucks cup in every shot of the film. Starbucks allowed their products being shown in the ‘90s cult classic, as long as their shop was not destroyed on film. For the cafe scene, Fincher used the fictional Gratifico Coffee instead.
Woody was supposed to be a ventriloquist doll in Toy Story. Woody was originally written as the antagonist of the film, a “sarcastic bully” trying to pit the other toys against Buzz.
The Great Reality TV Swindle is exactly what it sounds like. In 2002, 30 people were conned to join a fake reality TV show in the U.K. Nik Russian, a bookstore clerk at the time, posed as a TV producer who offered a 1-year show. Russian persuaded the participants to leave their homes, quit their jobs and partners. However, there was actually no program deal nor prize money. As a result, most of the 30 contestants went bankrupt. Since then, Nik Russian has not been convicted (since he did not take money from anyone) and nobody has been able to track his whereabouts.
Reality TV phone calls are almost always fake. Phone calls are a familiar reality TV template, but there’s not much reality to them, either. It’s relatively easy, since the fake conversation can be shot for each speaker and then edited together.
Saskatchewan Throne Speech doesn’t mention energy or oil
BY BRIAN ZINCHUK
REGINA – The first Saskatchewan Party Speech from the Throne in its new mandate is long on health and education spending, but says almost nothing about energy, and nothing at all about energy development.
The Saskatchewan Party found the election had largely revolved around health and education issues, and Premier Scott Moe, in his election night speech, noted this message had been heard. The Throne Speech maintains a sharp focus on those two areas in particular, but mentions little on the revenue side of the ledger.
The relatively short 11 page document, read by Lt.-Gov Russ Mirasty the afternoon of Nov. 25, does not use the word “energy” once. Nor does it use the word “oil.” “Natural gas” is only mentioned once, with reference to the fighting the federal carbon tax.
“Saskatchewan has one of the lowest inflation rates in Canada, largely due to my government’s decision to take the carbon tax off home heating.
“That exemption has already been extended by SaskPower for those customers who use electricity to heat their homes.
“During this session, my government will introduce legislation to extend the carbon tax exemption on natural gas through 2025, saving Saskatchewan households about $480 next year.
“My government will continue to ad-
tarnes.electric@sasktel.net
vocate for the carbon tax to be eliminated completely, but until that happens, we will ensure carbon tax fairness by exempting home heating from the carbon tax.”
And that’s it. There is nothing about energy development, energy transition, coal, nuclear power, uranium, lithium, wind, solar, renewable, helium, or climate.
Potash is mentioned once, in a list of Growth Plan goals achieved, stating, “Increasing the annual value of potash sales to $9 billion.”
It was mentioned in this portion: Saskatchewan is on track to achieve many of my government’s Growth Plan goals, including:
1.4 million people living in Saskatchewan by 2030;
$16 billion in annual private capital investment by 2030;
Increasing agricultural value-added revenue to $10 billion a year by 2030; and Doubling forestry sales to $2.2 billion by 2030.
Saskatchewan has already achieved and exceeded many of my government’s Growth Plan goals, including:
Increasing total export value by 50 per cent compared to 2018;
Increasing manufacturing value by 50 per cent compared to 2018;
Increasing Saskatchewan’s agri-food exports to $20 billion a year; and
Increasing the annual value of potash sales to $9 billion.

Safe Young Drivers Event coming to KCS
A Safe Young Drivers Event will be held at Kindersley Composite School (KCS) on Tuesday afternoon, December 3rd, for high school students who have obtained their driver’s license. This free event, sponsored by Kelly Insurance Brokers Ltd., is designed to increase driver confidence when navigating urban and rural roadways in Saskatchewan.
The Saskatchewan Safety Council recognizes the need to address statistics that report 100 collisions, 19 injuries, and one death per year in Kindersley. There will be no examination at the end of this informal open class event, which will cover numerous topics.
Those topics include best practices for driving in hazardous conditions and collision avoidance. Timely topics for this time of year
are winter driving, skids and hydroplaning, driving on gravel roads, and how to protect yourself while driving.
The curriculum includes rules of the road, emergency vehicles, work zones, and traffic guidance at intersections. It will also discuss acceptable amounts of risk while driving and impairment due to substance use, medications, fatigue, illness, emotions, and distractions.
Participants need to register with KCS for this informative class, which will be followed by a pizza dinner and refreshments, sponsored by Kelly Insurance Brokers Ltd.
The Safe Young Drivers Event will be presented in cooperation with the SGI Traffic Safety Promotion and Acquired Brain Injury Partnership.

Q:I watched the boxing match with Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. I didn’t know that Jake and Logan Paul were two different people. Did they both start out on YouTube? — D.E.
A:Yes, Jake and Logan Paul are two blonde brothers who grew up in Ohio and became social media stars. They can be hard to tell apart. Logan started up his YouTube channel 11 years ago and grew it to more than 23 million subscribers. He’s also a professional wrestler for the WWE and the owner of an extremely successful beverage company, Prime. Like his brother, Jake, he’s also headlined boxing events, including an exhibition match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2021.
Logan’s younger brother by two years, Jake, recently beat Mike Tyson in a boxing match on Netflix. Many feel it was staged, but both Paul and Tyson came out winners monetarily when they each took home a seven-figure payday. Jake originally was a child actor on the Disney Channel series “Bizaardvark,” then became a YouTube star like his brother. In the years before facing Tyson, Jake won boxing matches against several MMA fighters, but lost to British pro boxer Tommy Fury.
Q:
What is the new “Bridget Jones” project coming up on Peacock? Is it a TV series? — S.G.
A:“Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” is a film based on the fourth book in the series by author Helen Fielding. Renée Zellweger returns as the hilarious and relatable heroine, Bridget, who is newly widowed with two young children. The film also stars Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Sally Phillips and Isla Fisher.
Look for the movie in theaters and on Peacock just in time for Valentine’s Day, with a release date of Feb. 14, 2025.
Q:
Who is the actress with the long brown hair featured in the commercials for the new Bob Dylan movie? She looks very familiar. Also, does Timothée Chalamet do his own singing in the movie? — K.E.
A:You’re
probably thinking of Monica Barbaro, who is best recognized as Lt. Natasha “Phoenix” Trace in “Top Gun: Maverick.” She also co-starred in the Neflix series “FUBAR” opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and, prior to that, the ABC series “Splitting up Together” and Lifetime’s “Unreal.”
In “A Complete Unknown,” Barbaro plays folk singer and political activist Joan Baez, who was instrumental in the success of Bob Dylan early in his career.
You could also be thinking of Elle Fanning, who sports reddish-brown tresses in “A Complete Unknown.” She plays a character named Sylvie, who is loosely based on Dylan’s girlfriend at the time, Suze Rotolo.
“A Complete Unknown” is directed by the same person who directed the Johnny Cash biopic “Walk the Line.” Both of those stars did their own singing and learned to play instruments for their roles. Timothée Chalamet can definitely sing, as witnessed in the motion-picture musical “Wonka,” and he’s said to have done his own vocals in the Dylan film.
