I was feeling depressed so my wife put her hand on my shoulder, and said “Earth”. That meant the world to me.

No wonder everyone’s attracted to the sun. It IS pretty hot.

Scientists have discovered a planet populated entirely by robots. They call it Mars.

I hired a private investigator but he spent two days staring at my hedges. Turned out he was a privet investigator.

I own an innovative gardening supplies store. We sell cutting-hedge technology.

I’m pretty bad at building fences. Oops, wrong place for this post.

I got banned from the secret cooking society for spilling the beans.

I am very concerned about the environment. One look and I can tell those trees are up to something.

Would you like to run your own licensed daycare home business but don’t want the clutter in your own home or to perform the renovations needed to get licensed?

The community of Coleville has a home ready for lease to an individual qualified to become a licensed daycare home operator. All utilities except phone/internet/tv are included in the monthly lease amount at a very reasonable rate. Child sized shelving, tables and chairs, high chairs, crib, sleeping cots, toys and more are already in the house. The home would qualify to run up to 12 spaces with a helper. The home has been renovated to pass the Fire and Heating Inspection. We are looking for a candidate with ECE Level One or experience in childcare and willing to obtain Level One. Candidate must be confident in running their own business. Candidate must be willing to implement an engaging program for the children in their care.

Candidate must respect the work, time and money the community has put into the home to get it set up properly. The Daycare Property Committee will continue to maintain the normal upkeep of the physical property.

There are several start up grants available through the Government of Saskatchewan to assist with licensing costs. Candidate is required to carry $5 million in liability insurance and pass all record checks. Candidate must be licensed or almost licensed at the end of a three month period.

If you or you and a helper are interested in checking into the opportunity, please contact Kathy Sproule at 306-460-8320 and forward a resume to colevillecef@gmail.com

Annual General Meeting THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 2025 11:00 AM

Q:Why did “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” kill off Nikki? She was one of the leads on the show. Who will replace her? — J.M.

A:It was definitely shocking when the producers of Fox’s “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” decided to kill off their female lead, played by Dania Ramirez. This usually doesn’t happen unless the actress wants to leave the show, but nothing has been reported that it was Ramirez’s choice.

Executive producer Carla Kettner explained to TVLine that the biggest factor in the decision to write out the character was their “commitment to keeping the show fresh and surprising.” The plot twist happened a month before the finale because Kattner wanted the members of the investigative unit to cope with their grief over several episodes so that it would feel real.

There’s still a question of whether “Alert” will get renewed. Ratings have been trending downward, but the network might be more inclined to renew the show if a big name is cast as Ramirez’s replacement.

Q:How is Christina Applegate doing these days since her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis? Will she ever return to acting? — D.W.

A:ChristinaApplegate essentially had to retire from acting on screen once her hit series “Dead to Me” wrapped up. Filming the final season was extremely hard on her body due to her MS, and she told the press that she’s “probably not going to work on camera again.” However, never say never!

Shortly thereafter, she started a podcast with actress and friend Jamie-Lynn Sigler (“The Sopranos”), who also has MS. “MeSsy” provides insight into their daily lives of living with the disease, with the hosts sharing their vulnerability and adopting a sense of humor about their devastating diagnoses. Special guests on “MeSsy” have also included Applegate’s “Married ... with Children” parents Katey Sagal and Ed O’Neill. Since making an announcement about her possible retirement, Applegate has committed to two television projects. First up is an animated reboot of “Married ... with Children,” where Applegate

will do the voice of Kelly Bundy, but the second project, a TV movie, is one that will really test her physical endurance. In Lifetime’s “Your Time Is Up,” she’ll star as a “disheveled psychologist” who has a “unique approach” in how she conducts her therapy sessions due to her unconventional upbringing.

Q:Since the show “Lucifer” isn’t coming back, what can I see Tom Ellis in next? — E.H.

A:Welsh

actor Tom Ellis became a huge star in America after he starred in the series “Lucifer.” Actually, it wasn’t until the show was revived by Netflix after being canceled by Fox after three seasons that Ellis really hit it big. He co-starred in the Hulu series “Tell Me Lies,” but it’s his next series that should give you a heavy dose of him. “CIA,” the upcoming latest installment in CBS’s “FBI” franchise, just announced Ellis as a “rule-breaking, loose-cannon CIA case officer.” However, his co-star, who will play a by-thebook FBI agent, has yet to be announced. Look for “CIA” as part of the 2025-26 TV season.

Serve Berry Delicious Meringues for Mother’s Day

I am always looking for a way to showcase the bright colors and naturally sweet tastes of fresh berries. Sliced, whole, or mixed together with a light sauce, they make a quick dessert option when piled high over a scoop of ice cream or a slice of angel food cake.

And for a dependable showstopper, nothing beats topping serving-sized crackly, meringue shells with berries, a dollop of whipped cream, and a sprig of fresh mint from the garden. They look fancy, but they are easy to make, especially when your school-aged kids lend a hand.

Put these “Berry Delicious Meringues” on your Mother’s Day menu this year for a memorable celebration! First, make the meringue shells ahead of time.

BERRY DELICIOUS MERINGUES

8-10 servings

— 3 egg whites

— 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar — 3/4 cup of sugar

Preheat oven to 275 F. In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until frothy and foamy with an electric mixer set at low speed. Add the cream of tartar. Increase speed until soft peaks form. Let

one of your kids begin adding the sugar slowly, a tablespoon at a time. You’ll be amazed to see how dramatically the mixture expands and changes. Once all the sugar is added, keep beating until glossy, stiff peaks form.

Use an ice-cream scoop or large spoon to drop 1/3 cupfuls of the mixture onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. With the back of a spoon or with wet fingers, spread each portion out into 3-1/2-inch circles, building up the sides slightly. You may space them quite close together since they won’t rise.

Bake 1 hour. Turn off the oven and leave meringues in the oven with the door closed for an additional 1 1/2 hours. Remove and cool.

To serve, fill with your favorite whole and sliced berries, then top with whipped cream and a sprig of mint or a whole strawberry — stem and all.

Extra Tip: Is Mom a chocoholic? Drizzle some chocolate sauce over the top! Or get fancy like restaurants and make a few simple dots or swirls directly on the plate around the meringue.
