Town plans treats for Winter Wonderland anniversary EAGLE STAFF
Town councillors agreed to offer hot chocolate and hot dogs when the Winter Wonderland lights are turned on around this time next year. Amanda Bors, the interim chief administrator, suggested the town “do something” to help organizers celebrate the 25th anniversary of Winter Wonderland. A host of characters from storybooks, cartoons and movies
appear under strings of lights shortly before Christmas, transforming Lovett Park into Winter Wonderland. Mayor Trevor Hay suggested supplying hot chocolate and hot dogs, as has happened in the past. “It might be cold out, but there will be warm hot chocolate and warm hot dogs,” Hay said. Bors also noted that people can purchase mittens bearing their names, which are displayed in the park around the Centennial Library, to help raise money for
new displays. People can buy the mittens at the town office, she said. “It all goes to buying new stuff out there.” Hay also expressed appreciation to the organizers — Char and Glenn McNally, and Marge and Brian Champion — who were assisted by Simplot staff, councillor Jan Coffey-Olson said. “It looks so good,” Kimiko Otterspoor said. “And it snowed the next day,” Greg Carlson added.
