SACANDO MÚSCULO Pretty much every single one of the principal market indices used to assess the health of the Spanish property industry, has revealed consistent price growth throughout 2017, with the Association of Spanish Registrars putting the figure at 6.82% compared with 2016; Idealista reporting 5.6%; Tinsa on 4.3%; and Fomenta going for a more cautious 2.7%.
Casi todos los principales índices del mercado que se usan para evaluar la salud del sector inmobiliario español han revelado un sólido crecimiento en los precios durante 2017. La Asociación de Registradores de la Propiedad ha arrojado un 6,82% de subida en comparación con 2016, Idealista otorga un 5,6%, Tinsa la estima en un 4,3% y Fomenta presenta un más conservador 2,7%.
Even the Notaries – who always publish their data much further down the line – suggest that house prices in Spain are 2.4% higher than they were in 2016.

And it’s not only prices that are on the up, but sales, too. In fact, Anticipa – another of Spain’s leading real estate analysts – predicts that no fewer than 526,000 residential properties will be sold nationwide in 2018, a very healthy increase of 9.3% on the 481,000 homes likely to have changed hands when the final figures for 2017 have been compiled.

Indeed, should that hugely impressive figure of 526,000 property sales be reached next year – and all the indications point to it being highly probable – then it will be the very first time that the halfa-million barrier has been broken since 2008… and would also be nearly double the total for 2013 when 285,000 homes were sold. Of course, the forecast for next year is still 42% lower than the recordbreaking tally of 900,000 residential property sales in 2006, but with house prices still 25% cheaper in Málaga province than they were a decade ago, it certainly wouldn’t come as a surprise!
