She grew up around wedding dresses, so working as True Bride’s creative project manager is a natural fit for Georgia. Here she shares her love of all things bridal with Your Scottish Wedding

Your Scottish Wedding: How did you first start working with True Bride? Had you always worked in bridal before or how did you decide this was the direction you wanted your career to take?

Georgia Flynn: I actually grew up around the bridal industry and wedding dresses, so it’s something I’ve always known. I never thought I’d want to end up working in the industry, though, until I tried it and just fell in love! YSW: How did the True Bride brand start?

GF: True Bride was born in Brighton in 2005 with the goal of creating designs for everybody. With a distinctive flair for creating original, stylish dresses we filled a gap in the bridesmaid market; the wide range of colours, designs and sizes captured brides’ imaginations and became the cornerstone for the brand. Today, we have four bridal and four bridesmaid collections that the True team believe have the versatility and charm to inspire a vision true to each bride and their unique love story.

YSW: How would you describe the True Bride style? What sort of bride wears True Bride?

GF: We create gowns that express the bride’s individuality with the use of classic silhouettes that always have a unique twist. We believe passionately that we are designing more than a dress; we are creating the experience for every woman to feel their most beautiful and fabulous on their wedding day. The signature True Bride look is encapsulated through the timeless but contemporary nature of our dresses, with a style that is always memorable and that you feel your best in.

YSW: The True Bride brand incorporates a variety of different lines; with True Bride, Nicki Flynn by True Bride, True Curves and Brighton Belle in bridal, as well as the different bridesmaid lines. Do you have a favourite?

GF: I will always hold a very special place for the Nicki Flynn by True Bride range. This collection was started when

our founder Nicki Flynn decided she wanted to create a selection of personal designs featuring the details, silhouettes, and styles she’d dreamed up over decades working and designing in the bridal industry. The dresses in this range all hold a special quality and are now designed and created with Nicki in mind.

YSW: How important is it to the company to have the True Curves line for plus size brides and are there any special traits or constructions tricks to make those dresses every bit as flattering as the other lines?

GF: We spent years developing the True Curves collection, talking with retailers and brides alike so we could create the dresses plus size brides actually want. Each dress is fitted with our luxury construction that was designed for this range to flatter, enhance and support where needed, and we also developed a specific size chart to ensure an unparalleled fit. We refuse to compromise on design – exemplary style, cut and construction are at the core of who we are as a brand, and this shows through more than ever in our Curves collection. Just because a bride is curvier it doesn’t mean she wants anything other than the look, and we make sure to deliver. From

Gatsby glam beading, dreamy waterfall style beaded cape sleeves, plunging V-neck fronts and dramatic lace trains, our True Curves collection has something for every bride.

YSW: Where did the inspiration come from for the 2022 collections?

GF: We really took little bits of everything! Some dresses are built around their movement and fluidity and the soft lines of the styles whilst others take that dramatic bohemian detailing and give it a modern edge. We’ve also been inspired by the simplicity people have talked about this last year, taking it back to basics and building it back up again. We’ve had the time to really look at what we want to create for our brides, and I think the passion of our team really shows through in every aspect of this collection.

YSW: Do you have a dress from the new collection that’s your own personal favourite? YSW: Who is the one celebrity bride you wish True Bride could have designed a wedding dress for?

GF: I mean, its’ got to be Grace Kelly, right?

YSW: What’s your all-time favourite True Bride wedding dress?

GF: Sardinia from the Nicki Flynn by True Bride collection.
