You’d better watch out . . . In the middle of all this summer heat, it’s good to have a little holiday cheer, complete with St. Nick a half-year early in July. That was the case when Santa Claus (played by Eldred Brown) made a stop at the Bazaar on Apricot and Lime during the business’s Christmas in July event. Families took photos with Father Christmas and had breakfast early in the morning. That’s probably for the best — Rudolph’s red nose is proven in fog, but might not be so effective in a Florida summertime thunderstorm.

SMH rises to the top of another list Fresh off inclusion on a list of the nation’s top 100 hospitals, Sarasota Memorial Hospital took multiple spots on U.S. News’ Best Hospitals list, including ranking No. 1 in the Sarasota-Bradenton area and No. 6 in Florida. The 2022-2023 ranking placed SMH in the top 50 hospitals nationally for people recovering from serious injuries and diseases as well as for specialized urology care. It also received high-performer marks for gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery and 15 other specialties.
