All fall down

Setting up dominoes takes planning and patience, not to mention a steady hand. Dominoes artist Nathan Heck is good at all that. The domino builder (and toppler) was recently invited to the Bazaar on Apricot and Lime to make a 10,000-plus domino landscape. Heck started the mammoth creation on July 15 and took time to teach youngsters about domino building basics along the way. But on July 16, it was time for the big show. Dozens of children and parents gathered to watch Heck — with help from 8-year-old audience member Liam Parker — knock the first domino down and send the entire structure crashing down.

1 million rides

The Siesta Breeze Trolley recently carried its 1 millionth rider on Siesta Key. The trolleys have been going almost nonstop since the free service’s start in 2017 — which helps bring down traffic congestion with the many tourists that visit the area — and there are numbers to prove it. The event was cause for celebration, featuring Sarasota Commission Chair Al Maio and Sarasota County Area Transit representatives. The service runs 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the year.
