Paint the bus

Artist Carrie Boucher has long brought her NOMAD art bus to communities in Florida for locals to paint. The bus is now part of the Skyway 20/21 exhibition, a joint project between arts organizations in Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and other areas. To mark the occasion, the bus made its way to The Ringling on Aug. 2 for a free family day where families were able to paint the vibrant bus themselves.

Meeting Hamish

Sarasota children’s author Robert Heron has written about Hamish McHamish, the St. Andrews cat. The legend goes that the wandering Scottish street cat could bring good fortune to the businesses that he passed. He even got his own statue in the Scottish town. Heron had never seen the statue, but recently he and his wife, Diane, visited the Scottish town to do a few book readings. The couple of course took the time to take a pic with the titular cat’s statue.
