Memories and Mishaps It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The family gathers to make holiday memories, but sometimes things go awry. If a batch of cookies has ever prompted a visit from the fire department or a family trip took a wrong turn, we want to hear about. We’ll feature the best (and funniest) of your holiday memories and mishaps in our Christmas issue. Email your submissions to abrugmann@yourobserver.com by Dec. 14 and you may see it in print.

The Ronto Group’s Echelon on Palm is one of at least seven luxury condo projects proposed in downtown Sarasota.
It wasn’t chewing gum that damaged Sift Bakery’s front window. Owners think it was shot out by a BB gun around 8 p.m. Wednesday. After discovering the damage, owners and employees decided some humor was in order and covered their window in the style of the 1994 movie “Clerks.” “We had to run with it and have some fun,” employee Emily Marable said. They still don’t know who is responsible for the damage, but the bakery is offering free cake for life to anybody who has any information.
