Design of the season The Sarasota law firm of Williams Parker has a tradition for the holidays. For the past four years, the firm, founded in 1925, has partnered with the Ringling College of Art and Design for a holiday card contest that allows students to submit their own unique designs. The winning card design serves as the law firm’s card for the holiday season. The 2021 competition’s winner is Samantha Zappola, a junior illustration major at the college. Zappola, originally from Hightstown, New Jersey, was given a cash award by firm partner and President Michael J. Wilson (above) to help with school expenses for winning.

We want to hear from you Life is full of roses — and thorns — that we experience every day. And in the Observer’s new column, Rants & Raves, we want to hear about both. But we need your help. This column will be an open, anonymous community hub where you can share what’s going great and also what you think is not so great. Want to give someone a shoutout for helping you change a tire in the rain? That would be a rave. Unhappy about the new traffic pattern to accommodate a roundabout in progress? That would be a rant — and probably a popular one at that. There are two ways to submit your rant or rave. The first is to leave a message with whatever you want to say on our voicemail at 366-3468, ext. 798. The second is to email us at RantsAndRaves@YourObserver.com. Call or email to help get us started. We can’t wait to hear what you have to say.
